Arranged Marriage: To Hear Your Voice Novel

Chapter 2 - She's Mute (F)

Marga entertained Gabriel but he showed no interest towards her. He kept glancing in the direction where the eldest daughter of Alvarez went, but she’s not showing up. “So, she’s an introvert and had the gut to have a one night stand with him?” Gabriel murmured to his mind The woman was a virgin when they f-cked and he wasn’t able to find her anywhere in New York after that.

Enzo came from that direction whistling. Disappointed, Gabriel let out a sigh and smiled very businesslike toward Enzo. He almost mistook him as Ethan, which he realized that he’s the twin brother.

“Mr. Lawson, I heard that you opened another branch in Global City,” Janine asked.

“I did. It was under my company, but I let one of my directors handle it. You are welcome to that spa.” Gabriel replied.

“Dad!” Enzo called and sat down. “Sabrina doesn’t want to eat with us, as usual.” Ferdinand immediately understood him.

“I’m so sorry about that. Sister Sabrina doesn’t really eat dinner with us. So, I hope that it is alright with you if she’s not present.” Marga said politely. Enzo just bit his lower lip and looked at Gabriel’s face to search for his reaction, but he was calm and collected.

Ferdinand called the maid. “Yes, master.” The maid came half running.

“Prepare Sabrina’s dinner, tell her to meet us in the dining room in half an hour. It’s an important family meeting.” The maid bowed and went to Sabrina’s chamber to relay the orders.

“I will be pleased to meet Sabrina properly,” Gabriel said and sipped his tea. Though he wasn’t used to it, he felt the tea tasted funny but still it’s fine. “So, what’s Sabrina’s work? Does she work in the company?”

“Yes and no. It seems like that, but she only comes to office on a few days to intimidate people and then will leave. But she’s efficient and she helped the company a lot through her assistant. Ethan was more into the family business than the two.” Ferdinand replied.

“We are triplets but it doesn’t mean that we share the same liking,” Enzo said. “I am more into nerd things, my sister is more into both nerd and business.”

“Interesting. It’s my first time meeting triplets in real life. So, who was born first?”

“Ethan, then me and lastly Brina.” Enzo answered with a little frown. Gabriel nodded. Gabriel Lawson is surely interested in her. He wouldn’t ask such things like this if he’s not interested in Sabrina. Now, he wondered what he didn’t like about Marga.

Enzo glanced at Marga. He wanted to laugh at Marga’s face. He really doesn’t hate Marga but when Marga bullies his baby sister, he can’t stand it. She’s a two-faced bitch just like her mother and he wondered if his father knows about it.

“I thought you wanted to marry Marga,” Enzo said.

“I haven’t made up my mind. My parents told me to marry one of the heiresses in this family but never indicated who. So, maybe it’s up to me on whom I will choose.”

For Enzo, he’s 102 percent positive that Lawson wanted to marry Sabrina. He has no interest in Marga, since Marga is like most other girls. Gabriel can have any woman he desired but he won’t let him have his only sister.

He excused himself and went out to call Ethan through the phone.

“I know that you will call. Gabby is there.” Ethan said from the other line.

“You know that he’ll marry Brina, not Marga right?”

“I am sure of that,” Ethan said from the other line. “His interest in women is rare. He f-cked anyone but he will surely want to marry someone who’s more interesting than anyone at all.”

“Asshole. Get back here.” Enzo said with gritted teeth.

“Bro, just chill out. Our sister isn’t little anymore. Let her handle this thing. We’ll have a meeting tomorrow about the Service.” Ethan replied back as he understood him clearly.

“Copy that.” He hung up and walked back inside and looked at Gabriel’s direction.

Gabriel is a powerful man but their father never knew that their businesses are more powerful than their family business. He’s been slacking off and doesn’t care about family business because he has a business of his own. Though he owns 15 percent shares of the company just like Sabrina, he cared no less about the family business. Her older brother was the successor and it’s fine that he owns a 30 percent share, since he bought a few shares from the stockholders.

It is more than the 16 percent that Janine owns as the new Mrs. Alvarez. But the truth was there are another 20 percent shares from his deceased mother and it went to Sabrina, it’s a secret that Janine and Marga don’t know.

Their mother’s lawyer presented a will to put the thirty percent share from the company and few villas to her only daughter. And the share from her family business was also separated for the three of them and Sabrina is the only one who has trust funds. Their mother planned it well for her daughter.

It’s been ten years since Sabrina stopped talking. That’s when they lost their mother. Their father never expected that to happen. Lots of psychiatrists came to check on her but she never spoke, they thought she’ll kill herself. But that too never happened.

He also knew that Sabrina has more money than they have because of his mother and father who made fixed deposits for their safety if anything ever happened. But surely, once Sabrina is dead, Janine might forge documents to transfer it to her daughter and herself. No one knows what will happen if Sabrina is dead. But the most important thing is, Sabrina is like a cat and she has more than one life.

In the dining room, Enzo sat down with others, next to him is a vacant chair for his sister and he settled her tablet next to the food that is specially made for her. Only one butler prepares her food. It is the trusted butler that their mother hired back then. Sabrina might be poisoned or something that’s why Enzo also helps by checking things.

They waited for Sabrina’s arrival and she finally showed up with wet hair, wearing a turtleneck sweatshirt and sweatpants.

“Let’s eat then.” Ferdinand finally said. Sabrina stares at the food and Enzo tasted it first, after a few moments passed she started eating. Gabriel sat in front of her and smiled trying to charm her. She glanced at him and ignored.

“So Brina, what’s your hobby?” Gabriel asked. Sabrina didn’t reply. She glanced at him without any response and continued eating her food. Marga cleared her throat to get Gabriel’s attention and she spoke for Sabrina.

“My sister doesn’t speak.” Marga answered. It took Gabriel’s attention and he turned to Marga with knitted brows. “She’s muted.”

“Oh, I see.” Gabriel nodded which made him more interested toward Sabrina. Marga thought that she saw disappointment from Gabriel’s eyes but there’s none.

“Sorry, I didn’t know. I apologize, Brina.” The way he calls her name was casual like he had known her before. She didn’t react but just ignored him.

Enzo wanted to laugh out loud about it, but only smirked and proceeded to his food. He looked at his father who wasn’t impressed and seemed like he wanted to hide Sabrina from Gabriel. He sometimes doesn’t understand his father’s intentions. But he seemed like he wanted to hide Sabrina from Gabriel or was it the other way?

Her phone started playing unique piano music which is only settled for classified work. She stopped eating and her phone vibrated at the same time.

She answers the call and listens to the voice from the other line.

“Boss, we found where Tequila is. We will stand by and wait for you. I’ll send you the location.” She put down her phone after hanging up and typed on her tablet showing it in front of Gabriel. Then she bows her head and left.

“She has a big emergency.” He said. “Apologies.”

“It’s alright,” Gabriel said. “I was about to announce who I wanted to court.” He chuckled as he faced ferdinand. “Let’s settle the first date this week. I will marry Sabrina.” He said it was like settling a business contract.

“Why Sabrina?” Enzo asked Gabriel, face serious and wanted to wring his neck.

“Because I like her.”

“She’s muted.” He highlighted the muted word for him to understand. Gabby sneered.

“I don’t like a nagging woman. I like the quiet one. So, Sabrina is suited.”

Enzo glanced at Janine’s direction, she’s holding the knife tightly and Marga’s face was sour. She badly wanted Gabriel since he’s super-rich, super handsome, super sexy—those words are from the exaggeration of socialites around. Enzo laughed aloud and held his stomach.

“What do you say, dad?” Enzo asked, looking at his father’s direction.

“I’m so sorry, Mr. Lawson, you can marry my daughter Marga but Sabrina is an exception.”

“Why? She’s your daughter. I thought you and my parents had already arranged this marriage. And I choose Sabrina. I won’t marry anyone but Sabrina.”

“Then why Sabrina?”

“Let’s say that Sabrina and I have a special thing back then,” Gabriel said with a little smile. Ferdinand frowned and was curious. “Well, she might deny it.”

“I’m sorry that this happened. By the way, did my daughter seduce you?” Janine asked.

Enzo stopped laughing and glowered at Janine. Gabriel was surprised at Janine’s choice of word. Ferdinand as well was trying to hold his anger from Janine’s question. Sabrina is not a whore like yourself. Ferdinand wanted to scold Janine for indicating that Sabrina is indeed a whore.

“Everything is final. I’ll leave now. Thank you for the tea and dinner.” His assistant stood as well.

Enzo pushed his chair back and stood up, taking the tablet away and excusing himself to ready for his work.
