BIOLOGICAL SUPERCOMPUTER SYSTEM Novel

Chapter 36 A New Neural Link

When the feeling reached its climax, Erik felt the mana surging inside his brain and rapidly flowing through his body. It was then that the young man discovered that he had made another Neural link, the first one he had ever made.

Erik felt indescribable at that moment; he was obviously happy about the fact that he had a new neural link, but the feeling of accomplishment made him really feel happy.

He was happy and proud of himself for finally breaking free from the confines of his mediocrity. With this second neural link in place, Erik would be more than ready for anything; he would be able to handle any situation with confidence now.

The young man then concentrated on this new neural link; he had to understand to what brain crystal power it was related, the sharpening or the plant growing one?

After having tried channeling mana several times, he figured out that the new neural link was related to his original power.

<I wonder what kind of improvement this neural link will bring to my power,> Erik thought. b𝚍nov𝚕.com

It was clear that having more Neural links made mana flow more easily inside one body, improving one strength, but what about the power itself? Was it going to make the power more efficient? Stronger perhaps. He could only try it out to have an answer.

“Status,” Erik said. He was curious to see how things changed.

As he already knew, Erik’s strength increased, he didn’t expect dexterity and intelligence to improve too, but thanks to luck, they did. It was a happy surprise. Since Erik had nothing more to do and since the following day he would have to go to school, the young man went to wash and then to sleep.

The next morning when Erik woke up, he felt refreshed. The previous night had been very peaceful for him because he slept soundly through the whole night.

As soon as Erik got ready, he checked and accepted both daily quests and ate breakfast, completing the first of the two.

He then left his house to go to the train station, and after his usual trip on the train, he arrived at school. The gate was wide open, and multiple people were rushing in, usually coming from flying cars who landed on the ground to let the students go out.

Despite being usually jealous of such people, this time Erik didn’t care about them because he had something they didn’t, another power, and the biological supercomputer, obviously. As he arrived at the gate, he saw multiple people looking at him.

“He came; the trash is here.”

“He got awakened and still got an E-ranked brain crystal.”

“If I was him, I would be so embarrassed to die.”

“What a useless trash; not even an awakening could fix him.”

These were the comments thrown at him. Erik knew they were, in a sense, right. Usually, awakeners did get more substantial jumps in their brain crystal mana capacity when they awakened, but since Erik didn’t really awaken because he obtained the new brain crystal power through the system, he did not get that jump. Obviously, people didn’t know the fact. They believed that Erik was simply defective, despite being lucky to have awakened another power.

Erik ignored the comments and walked through the gate. On his way, he saw Conal, Orson, and Logan walking toward the building’s entrance but stopped to look at him once they heard people talking.

The three looked at him as if he was their worst enemy, which he probably was. They had to suffer a lot of humiliation since they were beaten by him, the school’s trash.

Erik didn’t mind them and entered the building and then went to class as usual. The young man had a peaceful day; people kept staring at him, and he felt uncomfortable, but besides that, he had no problems.

<I can finally go to the farm,> the young man said while leaving the class. Amber, Floyd, and Gwen left their classes, too, and headed to the cafeteria; while doing so, they saw the young man leaving the building.

“Hey, Erik!” Amber shouted, leaving all the people present astonished.

“Erik!”

But he couldn’t hear her; he was too far.

“Amber!” Gwen almost shouted.

“What?”

“Pay attention to where you are!”

Amber looked around and saw multiple people looking at her with disbelief; she, the school Goddess, was calling Erik the trash. When did they know each other? Why him and not them? Amber blushed and stopped immediately yelling. Then headed to the cafeteria with her friends.

A beast was moving through the bushes and trees in the forest surrounding New Alexandria.

The creature resembled a hedgehog, but its size was at least a couple of times greater. His spikes were green with some black tints at the edges, and its face resembled a cat.

Its legs were slightly longer than usual, but its spikes were definitely that of a hedgehog. Its stocky body didn’t give it much speed, but its spikes were deadly. It was a carnivorous thaid that lived only in forests, eating any living thing it found, including humans.

The creature was heading west toward the city. Its eyes glowed red like fireflies’ light. Soon, the creature reached a small clearing in the middle of the woods, and after several meters, it saw a huge golden field; it was wheat.

The beast approached the golden plants with slow steps and began sniffing the air, searching for prey. After a few seconds, it caught a scent and instantly turned into action.

The creature moved, but soon it collided with something making the creature grunt in pain. As it lifted his head to look at what it hit, the creature saw nothing, leaving it confused.

The beast tried to go forward again, but it couldn’t, it was like there was something in front of it that prevented it from going further in.

The beast started pressing his body against this invisible field and walked; it walked for several kilometers until suddenly, the weird barrier was no more.

The creature then went in; it walked inside the golden wheat field and slowly vanished among the stalks leaving no trace of his passage.
