Contract Marriage: Emperor CEO's Secretary Wife Novel

Chapter 38 - Lu Chen's plans

Chapter 38 – Lu Chen’s plans

Despite all the news, Xiu Mei decided to go back to report at Lu Corporation first before going home. She also wanted to ask any update on how the PR team would be resolving the issue about the news of her and Lu Chen. After all, they had to clarify that the marriage news was just a rumor and not true.

Xiu Mei could feel the eyes of all the employees on her. Some people tried their best to act normal while greeting her while some really stopped on their tracks and gawked at her. She even saw some hopeful gazes that felt like they were trying to have her spill some information about the marriage.

She sighed in defeat. Xiu Mei held back herself from telling all of them that what they heard on the news wasn’t true. She shouldn’t act too rashly and leave everything to the PR team else, it may cause more damage.

“Ms.Xiu.” The Head of the PR team greeted when they saw her enter the PR room. Almost everyone stood up from their seats to greet her so Xiu Mei just quickly held her hand up to stop the others from standing. She shook her head as she signaled the PR head that she needs a word with him.

The PR head quickly lead her to her office and served her with tea.

“Tell me what’s really happening.” Xiu Mei asked directly.

The PR head already knew that Xiu Mei would immediately ask for this once she returns to the office hence, she was already prepared and already had the materials ready. She handed over a couple of papers before further explaining what it was all about.

“Our team couldn’t find the person who spread this news however, it seems like it was done deliberately due to the fact that when we were trying to trace the news back from the first article, the writer seemed to be fully prepared. Everything pinged back to a nonexistent IP Address and that person had used a dummy email to send the information in various media publications before deleting itself in the internet.”

Xiu Mei read the paper and saw the IP address and dummy email they were talking about.

“What about the Cybersecurity team?”

“Umm,…”

Xiu Mei saw the PR Head was hesitantly answering her question. With her brows raised, she wondered.

“Are you not coordinating this issue with the Cybersecurity team yet?” She raised her voice quite a bit, akin to almost scolding the PR head for not immediately taking such actions.

Xiu Mei wondered why the PR team wasn’t coordinating with the Cyber team for resolving this issue since the news this time is too serious this time and they all need to take this news out of all the website as soon as possible or else, everything will become uncontrollable anymore.

“I’m sorry Ms.Xiu.” The PR head apologized. “Mr.Lu Shao gave a word not to do anything about to address this issue.”

Xiu Mei’s head snapped back up, her frows creased. “What?!” She couldn’t stop her voice from raising even further. “Lu Shao did what?!”

Xiu Mei stood up from her seat reflexively as she threw the papers down on the table. She stared with unbelief at the person in front of her, scrutinizing her whether she was telling the truth or was just making an excuse.

However, she knew it better than herself. These employees wouldn’t dare throw a shade at Lu Shao, who has higher position than them.

Xiu Mei bit her lip when she reached the conclusion. Lu Shao wasn’t going to stop the PR team if no one had instructed it.

Then it had to be him.

Lu Chen.

Xiu Mei was biting her lip too tightly that it drew blood. Tasting the tang of iron in her mouth, she grimaced.

She felt her anger rising after realizing the true of culprit of Lu Shao’s action.

Xiu Mei quickly stormed out of the office as she stomped her way to Lu Chen’s office.

She ignored all the people that were trying to greet her as she quickly rode the elevator and pressed the button to the president’s office floor.

Her hands were curled into fists as the elevator moved.

Damn Lu Chen.

What game was he playing?!

Why is he just letting this kind of news get more uncontrollable?

Instantly, Xiu Mei could think of the answer. And she wasn’t happy realizing the possible reason behind Lu Chen’s plan.

“Is he inside?” Xiu Mei’s voice was full of frost as she asked Lu Shao who was working on his own table.

She watched Lu Shao examine her with his gaze, trying to observe her current mood. He sighed before nodding, signaling her that the person she was looking for was inside.

Xiu Mei knocked on the door and opened it, not bothering whether the president was letting her in or not. She could care less about manners at this point of time.

“You’re here.”

Xiu Mei had expected him to be on his desk, signing doc.u.ments in the middle of the pile of work on his desk but contrary to what Xiu Mei was expecting, Lu Chen wasn’t working at all.

He was standing by the floor to ceiling glass windows, his back facing her. Xiu Mei suddenly felt an oppressive feeling from Lu Chen, like he really was an emperor overseeing his kingdom as he stood like that watching the people below.

She quickly shrugged off her thoughts as she quickly confronted him.

“What kind of game are you trying to play right now?”

“…”

She approached his table as she got a clear view of Lu Chen’s back from where she was standing. She quickly realized he wasn’t looking down at all, rather, he was staring from afar seemingly thinking deep about something.

Lu Chen just kept silent as she ignored her question. Xiu Mei fumed in anger.

“You–”

“Your heart has someone.”

Lu Chen’s voice was laced with poison as he turned his head to face her. His gaze was cold, similar to a deep abyss making Xiu Mei shudder in fear.
