Contract Marriage: Emperor CEO's Secretary Wife Novel

Chapter 9 - Sleep Here

Chapter 9 – Sleep Here

“Big Sister, this is yummy!!” Lu Qiang childishly exclaimed as he took a spoonful of the fried rice. Contrary to his stiff behavior with Xiu Mei when they first met, he was completely settled in at her home and ignored everyone in his surroundings except Xiu Mei.

Hence, the continuous drop of temperature in the room. Lu Shao and Xiu Mei’s backs sweated despite the cold temperature as they sat stiff on their seats. Xiu Mei was actually marveling at the fact that Lu Qiang was completely ignoring his father’s state.

Lu Qiang just kept on digging through his food and ate happily like the fried rice is the best food in the whole world.

“Big Sister!” Xiu Mei paused from her thoughts and saw a spoonful of rice being reached out at her in front of her sight.

Blinking, she glanced at the little smile that Lu Qiang was giving to her.

Her heart softened when she realized what he was trying to do. Was he trying to feed her?

She held her squeal and reached out to lightly pinch his cheeks.

The kid was a bit uncomfortable at her actions at first but still didn’t slap her hand away.

“Thank you.” She lightly said before opening her mouth to let him feed her.

Feeling accomplished, Lu Qiang revealed a smile of triumph before resuming his meal.

While Xiu Mei and the little one is having there sweet little alone time, the emperor CEO narrowed his eyes at his son who was warming up to his female secretary.

He was deeply confused as he thought about the actions of his son towards Xiu Mei.

Lu Chen took care of Lu Qiang from infancy and he knew that his son completely inherited the Lu genes—aloof and cold. The kid didn’t like strangers to the point that he’s not even close with his nanny and butler that he grew up with.

Lu Qiang especially hates strangers and would even lash out when a stranger would try to go anywhere near him or try talking to him. And Lu Chen thought it was a good thing.

Lu Chen thought that most people are cunning and a lot of people he had met before certainly have bad intentions as they tried reaching out to him. May it be male or female, most of them are the same. That’s why he only trusted a handful of people and he keeps them close.

Betrayal—it was the greatest stain that he could not erase ever in his whole life.

Hence, he became more cunning than them and fiercer than them.

And he had taught Lu Qiang the same thing whenever he has the chance to spend time with him. He didn’t want him to suffer from the hands of those dirty people.

But now, seeing his son getting comfortable with his female secretary that he has never met before, he felt weird.

Even though he knew that Xiu Mei is one of his most trusted subordinates, he felt a little bothered seeing them being sweet and friendly in front of him.

He didn’t understand why he was so bothered. Maybe it’s because he was kind of disappointed seeing his son suddenly warming up to a person that he met for the first time?

“Mr.Lu, was the food not to your taste?”

Xiu Mei’s voice broke his line of thoughts as he glanced at her. Their eyes met and it was the first time he was seeing a different expression on his female secretary’s face.

“Should I cook a different one?” She offered. He lightly shook his head before reaching out at the pair of chopsticks on the table. Removing his gaze from his son and Xiu Mei, he examined the dishes on the table.

It was just a simple fried rice and dumplings but somehow, he felt a bit of warmth from it.

Lu Chen’s chopsticks reached for the dumplings as he started eating his meal. Seeing this, Lu Shao followed suit.

Xiu Mei felt relieved when she saw that his boss didn’t comment about her cooking. She was kinda curious on what he thought of the taste but it was better not knowing than hearing him say that her cooking was bad.

As the four of them finished eating, Xiu Mei cleaned the table with Lu Shao and Lu Qiang offering their help. She then placed everything in the dishwasher and left it there before going back to the living room.

Once again, she saw the father and son ignoring each other as they say at the two ends of the sofa. while Lu Shao sat on the single seat.

Not knowing what to do, she glanced at Lu Shao and sent a message to him with her eyes acting like they have a telepathy.

Lu Shao understood her look and gestured with his eyes on the direction of Lu Qiang. Following where his eyes were looking, she looked at the little Lu Qiang pouting.

So what she understood was, if they don’t take this little buddha away then the emperor CEO won’t leave either.

She sighed as she rubbed her temples. Really, this day couldn’t be even more stressful.

Xiu Mei crouched in front of Lu Qiang as she rubbed his head. Kids are easily convinced when you gently talk it out with them after all. Or maybe, her nephew’s just more behaved than other kids.

“Did you have fun?”

Lu Qiang nodded with a sparkle in his eyes. She smiled upon learning that fact.

“Big Sister had a fun day with you too. But you know, little kids shouldn’t stay out too late.”

Xiu Mei watched Lu Qiang’s face crinkle as she continued.

“We can still have fun next time but right now, you have to sleep to grow, okay? So you have to go home with your father.”

“NO!” Lu Qiang crashed into her arms as his arms looped around her neck, fearing that she would shake him off.

“I don’t wanna go with father!”

Lu Chen’s face became darker hearing his words. Xiu Mei tried calming him down by patting his back instead.

“But little Qiang…”

“I’ll stay with Big Sister! I’ll sleep here with you!”

BLAG!

Weirdly, Xiu Mei heard something break as she was busy soothing Lu Qiang. She raised her head up and saw the towering build of Lu Chen that suddenly stood in front of them. He was looking down at Lu Qiang with a gaze that could kill.

Clearly, his patience had run out.

Xiu Mei understood. Ah, it must be the sound of his patience snapping.
