Chapter 3: An Angry Kick to the Door

Ling Yun stuck his huge butt outwards. His obese body was completely flat on the ground. The fine grass pricked his stomach, making it tingle and itch but he was completely unaware of it. All his attention was focused on the Shichiyou herb.

Ling Yun, who never had to worry about any sort of treasures back in Cultivation World, was close to tears from excitement.

He had never expected this planet with dwindling spiritual energy to have a spiritual herb like this.

He felt refreshed immediately as he satisfyingly absorbed the traces of spiritual energy emitted from the Shichiyou herb. He did not have to count intentionally to know that this Shichiyou herb had seven individual plants.

The Shichiyou herb always grew as 7 individual plants together at the same time and every plant had 7 leaves. It relied on the essence that came from sunlight to grow, up until every single leaf had 7 yellowish-brown spots. This would be when it was considered fully matured. If one was familiar with alchemy, the Shichiyou herb could be concocted into a Shichiyou pill.

Medicine concoction was coincidentally Ling Yun’s speciality as an expert in alchemy. He was confident that he could concoct a total of 49 Shichiyou pills out of a fully matured Shichiyou plant.

Of course, if he wanted to concoct pills, he would minimally need to be in Qi Cultivation Stage Level 1. However, he was not even in Physique Tempering Stage Level 1 with his current condition. Therefore, the thought of concocting pills with the Shichiyou herb was nothing more than an outrageous dream.

Ling Yun determined that the seven plants of the Shichiyou herbs were still in the growing stage. It would take them approximately 2 more months to be fully matured.

The spiritual energy emitted from the matured Shichiyou herb would be five to seven times stronger. However, it would only be viable for seven days. If the herbs were not harvested in time, it would wilt completely after seven days. Once the spiritual energy disappears after wilting, it would be no different from any other normal wilted plants.

However, this posed no issue to Ling Yun. He could absorb the Shichiyou herb’s spiritual energy directly even though a large amount of spiritual energy would have already dissipated into the atmosphere by then. Even with the small amount, it was beyond useful for Ling Yun who was about to begin his intense physique tempering.

Only after a short while, Ling Yun completely recovered from being extremely weak after the excessive blood loss that followed the car accident. A healthy reddish glow washed over his pale face, he felt that his body was filled with energy!

It was just that this action seemed a little obscene.

Too bad this body’s bone potential is too poor, and it can only store this little spiritual energy.

Half an hour later, Ling Yun sat up unwillingly with his eyes still fixed on the Shichiyou herb. His heart was filled with reluctance.

This solidified his outrageous thought of intense training.

I must reach the peak level of Physique Tempering Stage before the Shichiyou herb matures completely!

Ling Yun promised himself as he caressed the green leaves of the Shichiyou herb carefully as if it was a newborn.

He strongly believed that with help from the Shichiyou herb, he would definitely be able to enter Physique Tempering Stage Level 9 within two months. It was the only way he could protect himself from the unknown expert who had rendered his Yang Heel Meridian useless.

Regarding his Yang Heel Meridian, he already had an idea on how to heal it completely. What he needed to do was to reach Qi Cultivation Stage Level 1 by absorbing the Shichiyou herb’s spiritual energy when it fully matured. Following which, he would need to consume a few Shichiyou pills concocted from the herb, along with a special Holy Healing Technique. After that, his meridian would be good as new.

Since he was unable to absorb any more of the Shichiyou herb’s spiritual energy, Ling Yun just stood up and said to the herb, “So long, sweetheart, I’m not going to be accompanying you tonight, I’ll be back for our rendezvous tomorrow after I’ve depleted all my spiritual energy!”

Those who did not know any better would even assume that he was bidding farewell to his lover.

Ling Yun sensed the changes within his body after he absorbed the spiritual energy, he felt twice as strong as before when he left the scene of the car accident.

He walked away with his head up high and flailed his fists around.

This is the amount of strength a normal 18-year-old should have!

As he walked along the riverside for a few hundred meters, Ling Yun saw a small bridge, which led him to the original road. The road was only a few minutes away from school.

Ling Yun soon arrived at the school entrance. The school gate of Qingshui High was unsurprisingly closed. He did not plan on entering from the main entrance, so he casually examined the door and walked forward.

He looked through the railings to discover a wide sports field that was quiet and completely empty. It was the perfect place for him to climb over the wall.

It was impossible for him to not feel helpless as he recalled the scene of the weak Ling Yun falling disgracefully after climbing over the wall a few days ago. He did a clean flip over the wall and walked straight towards the boys’ hostel.

The main entrance of the boys’ hostel was also closed, thus, Ling Yun had to make a turn to the wrought iron gate of boys’ hostel. With a loud *Dang!*, Ling Yun hopped into the hostel.

The boys’ hostel warden had fallen asleep long ago. He would not have cared even if he was wide awake anyway. In high school, it was more than common for students to climb the wrought iron gates and return to hostel past midnight, even for the girls.

After Ling Yun managed to keep his balance. He looked up at his own hostel and noticed several glimmers of light coming from a few rooms. He knew it was students burning the midnight oil for the upcoming college entrance examination!

He was reminded of his times in Cultivation World when he had to undergo intense training day and night to transit from an outer sect disciple to an inner sect disciple. He sighed.

Natural selection. Seems like every world is the same!

His thoughts stopped in its tracks. A wave of determination flashed through his eyes and he swaggered through the boys’ hostels’ side door that never seemed to be closed. He stepped into the hostel and climbed the stairs all the way up to the third floor.

Snores that came from every hostel room filled his ears, along with voices from sleep talking and sounds from teeth grinding. Ling Yun walked towards Hostel 305 and gently pushed the door.

However, the door did not budge, it was obvious that the door was locked from the inside. His facial expression darkened into a frown and he gently knocked on the door.

The door still remained shut after knocking for a long time. Ling Yun furrowed his eyebrows and started knocking harder on the door.

Right then, there was already a boy inside the hostel who was awakened by the knocking. He even sat upright, and he knew it was definitely Ling Yun who was outside the door and he wanted to open up the door for him. However, he sat there contemplating his decisions.

His name was Chai Hanlin.

Yesterday night before lights out, the leader of Hostel 305, Wei Tiangan, suggested teaching Ling Yun a lesson. As long as he did not return before lights out, they would lock the door shut, forbidding him from entering.

This evil suggestion immediately garnered the approval of three other hostel mates, who usually think lowly of Ling Yun. They simply couldn’t wait to see him embarrass himself.

Only Chai Hanlin, who usually pitied Ling Yun weakly refuted the idea, “I think that’s not that nice, isn’t it? We’re all classmates, and the college entrance examination is right around the corner…”

Wei Tiangan glanced at Chai Hanlin with disdain and said, “That b*stard? Taking the college entrance exam? I’d be thankful if he didn’t screw up our college entrance exam!”

Gu Yuanlong, who slept on the bunk above Ling Yun laughed and joined in, “Chai Hanlin, has your brain gone haywire? Ling Yun has always been one of the bottom three in our class for his results, and the college entrance exam is only two months away! What results are you expecting him to score?”

The four students exchanged looks and knew what one another was thinking as they burst out laughing. Chai Hanlin wanted to defend Ling Yun but he himself knew that even if Ling Yun worked extremely hard for the last two months, he would still be unable to enter any university.

Wei Tiangan was extremely pleased with Gu Yuanlong’s compliance as he continued, “After tonight’s self-study session, that fat Ling Yun followed Cao Shanshan out. He has the audacity to pursue the campus belle from our class with that ugly face of his? He should take a good look at himself!”

Everyone knew Cao Shanshan was one of the three campus belles from Qingshui High. It was only natural that many boys from Grade 12 Class 6, even the entire school had a crush on her, the goddess of their dreams.

Something clicked inside Chai Hanlin’s head. He knew that Ling Yun had offended Wei Tiangan by having a crush on Cao Shanshan since Wei Tiangan had previously mentioned in the hostel that he wanted to woo her.

Even though Wei Tiangan was from a nearby town, his family was pretty well-off and his results were consistently within the top five in class. With that kind of results in Qingshui High, which was notorious for producing scholars, it was considered pretty amazing. In addition, he was rather attractive. Thus, it was reasonable for him to be interested in courting the campus belle.

He would have written Cao Shanshan a love letter long ago if it was not for the self-realization of his inability to match up to her family background, or his fear of offending her.

The fact that Ling Yun dared to secretly follow the goddess of his dreams, Cao Shanshan, after school, definitely angered Wei Tiangan immensely!

“Chai Hanlin, let me tell you, I know you pity this helpless fat pig. However, this door is definitely going to be locked shut for tonight. If you really do open the door for him, don’t say I didn’t give you a chance!”

Since Wei Tiangan had already threatened him, and the other three classmates looked beyond excited, Chai Hanlin knew that it was useless for him to fight back. Hence, he just kept quiet and sighed for Ling Yun. He returned back to his bed and continued reading.

Kind horses get rode over and good people get bullied! Ling Yun was honestly too weak!

The knocking got louder and louder. Wei Tiangan and Gu Yuanlong naturally got woken up by the knocking. They all knew it was Ling Yun knocking outside. However, they all just sat on their bed and looked at the hostel door with a smug expression.

However, Wei Tiangan also felt puzzled. Based on Ling Yun’s cowardly personality, if he knocked on the door and no one answered after a long time, he would rather stay outside the hostel door rather than knock again. Why was there no sign of him giving up this time?

Chai Hanlin felt the knocking got louder and louder as if it was knocking directly onto his heart. He could no longer stand it and was about to get off his bed.

“You dare open the door?!” Wei Tiangan who was high above on the top bunk gave Chai Hanlin a side-eye and threatened him.

“Hell! It’s the middle of the night, stop knocking!” The boys from the opposite hostel were also woken up and were complaining loudly.

Ling Yun clearly knew that his hostel mates were all wide awake by then, but they intentionally kept the door locked. He could not help but feel slightly angered. His good mood from getting the Shichiyou herb was completely destroyed.

“I see you guys are used to bullying me, huh…” Ling Yun mocked himself and stopped knocking, but took three steps back instead.

He took a deep breath, rushed towards the door in two steps and kicked the door with his right leg.

*Dang!*

With one kick, the door opened up!

“Who locked the door?!” Ling Yun went right into the hostel in an imposing and intimidating manner. His eyes darted across the room and finally, he fixed his gaze on Wei Tiangan who was sitting on the top bunk!

Even though he could not recall these people’s names, Ling Yun could still clearly feel that the person who harbored the most hostility against him was the fella who was sitting on the top bunk with a face filled with disdain!

There was pin-drop silence in the hostel. Wei Tiangan, Gu Yuanlong and the rest, including Chai Hanlin, were all stunned by Ling Yun’s abnormal behavior!
