“What do you guys think? Our goal was to enter the Nine Divine Heavens with Boss. But now, the boss does not want to anymore and had been acting strangely.” Una said.
“There is nothing strange about it. Boss’s biggest wish is to take revenge on the Ashura Empress. The only thing that would stop him from trying to achieve this is possessing insufficient strength.” Thanatos stated.
“Insufficient strength…”
The Dark Emperor was a man with deep secrets, but he did not hide everything from his generals. At the very least, they had some vague understandings of the Nine Divine Heavens and power structure.
“Boss is the strongest being in the world. I cannot imagine anyone being more powerful than Boss. You are very daring to say the boss lack strength.”
Polemos frowned.
“It almost sounds like you are implying that the boss has been—”
“Crippled? That is exactly what I am implying. Looking at him lying on the ground so pathetically.” Thanatos admitted.
“You—! Do you have any respect for the boss anymore?” Polemos scowled. He was the most loyal to the boss of the four.
Realizing the inappropriateness of Albion’s positioning, he propped Albion up and seated him on a clean crate with back support.
Albion did not speak a word. He simply studied the four generals as their bicker among themselves. He was curious to find out what they would do once they find out he is no longer the Dark Emperor they thought he was.
“I only respect the boss because he was strong. Is a cripple deserving of my respect?” Thanatos sneered.
“That is enough, Thanatos. You are speaking without proof. If you were not a Horsemen, I would have already cut you down where you stand for the insolence and disrespect you have shown to the boss.” Kasin spoke.
“You can try, but do you think you can beat me?”
Thanatos gave Kasin a long look while the surrounding atmosphere intensified. Conflict was no stranger between these two Horsemen.
Kasin was the leader of Conquest, a powerful faction with many underworld gangs under its control. He only needed one word to summon thousands of people to do his bidding.
On the other hand, Thanatos was the leader of Nemesis, the top hitman organization in the world. He was a true representation of death.
Whether it is removing rival businessmen or uncooperative and hard-to-hit politicians, all the dirty work was carried out by him.
If Conquest and Nemesis were to ever clash seriously, the world would be thrown into a chaotic mess filled with a bloodbath.
Thanatos averted his eyes with a sly smile after weighing the pros and cons.
The art of assassination is to kill swiftly and unexpectedly, giving the opponent no chance to retaliate. He was confident, but direct confrontation did not suit a hitman like him.
“You want proof? I will show you.” Thanatos stated.
Kasin looked at him with suspicion and asked with a warning tone, “What do you intend to do?”
Before anyone could react, nor could Albion react anyway, he was struck by a palm and sent flying. All the stacked crates behind him shattered under the sheer force, but Albion only felt tickled.
His True Immortal Body was no joke.
“How dare you!”
Polemos roared angrily.
No one expected Thanatos to raise his hand against Albion. The Dark Emperor was not a good person, but he did adopt and raised them.
Thanatos retreated with a calm smile.
“How dare me what? Raise a hand against the one that fed me? Take a good look at that person. I just struck him, but he does not feel anything! No shock, no anger, no nothing! That is what I always hated about him! No matter what we have done for him over the years, he just treats us as insignificant nobodies!”
Although Albion could not move, he had anticipated the attack, saw it coming in slow-motion, and even knew he would not be harmed by it. As such, his calmness was unsurprising to him.
However, it was such calmness that disappointed Thanatos for the last time. The final traces of his expectations disappeared and turned his heart cold as ice.
“From today onwards, Nemesis shall withdraw its affiliation to the Ashura Group and cut off all ties,” Thanatos stated coldly and left.
He had worked for the Dark Emperor his whole life. It was time he thinks for himself. He will reach True Immortal and ascend the Divine Heavens plane. There was no need to rely on the Dark Emperor to take him there.
Thanatos had always been ambitious, but it was only when the Dark Emperor was crippled that his hidden ambition revealed itself.
“Hold it right there! Don’t think you can lay your hand on the boss and just walk away like this!” Polemos barked.
“Just let him go. If anyone else wants to leave, they can also leave.” Albion calmly said. If they were not loyal to him, there was no reason to keep them around.
“Then, I will also be leaving,” Una said and left without hesitation.
“This…”
Polemos did not expect Una to leave as well. Everything they built together was quickly falling apart, not to mention Una was the controller of the Ashura Group’s finance.
If Future Tech’s funding is cut off, things will become troublesome. The cost of research was a never-ending pitfall.
“It seems I only have you two left.” Albion smiled.
“Now that Thanatos has revealed his grand ambition, it is no longer safe for us to stay here. Aurora continent is the main base of operations for Nemesis. We should leave, Boss.” Kasin suggested.
“Alright.”
Albion thought for a moment before agreeing. Nothing can harm him, but the same cannot be said for the others.
“Where do you suggest we go?”
“Polemos has influence in the Antares, but Antares is just south of the Armentia continent where Una’s influence is strong. We should head to Europa. It is a fair bit of flight pass the Asiana continent, but my influence is strong there.”
Of the seven continents on Earth, the Ashura Group had a massive influence on four of them. It was not farfetched to say they had ruled half the world.
It was only the Sahara, Glacia, and Asiana continent that they had yet to extend their influences. One was too hot, the other was too cold, and the last continent was too chaotic.
“I will arrange the aircraft immediately,” Kasin said.
“There’s a research facility in River City with some important technology there. I will head there to collect it first. It will be troublesome if it falls into Thanatos’ hands. I meet you at the airport terminal.” Polemos said.
“Alright.”
Kasin said.
Fifteen minutes later, they arrived at the nearby airport terminal where their private flight was arranged.
Albion did not give Kasin any instruction during this time. Everything was arranged for him as he sat down in First Class and waited for Polemos to arrive before they take off.
‘This is pretty nice. It is quite convenient to have capable subordinates arranging everything for me. I can just kick back and relax.’ Albion thought.
However, the world was full of surprises.
Four hours later, he was swimming with the fishes at the bottom of the Ganymede Ocean.
One might be wondering how this happened, you might ask? Well, we will need to go back to four hours earlier.
