Chapter 99 - The Exam Results Out

Yun Qiu’s Spiritual Mind had already reached 90, and it would be strange if he couldn’t complete this written exam.

However, this exam is not something determined by the Spiritual Mind level.

It’s all about knowledge and a decent amount of experience.

After the examinees have collected their answers, they must wait in the lobby hall until the test results are out. The process usually takes two hours.

Meanwhile, within the hall, three Master Alchemists were examining the papers piled up on their desks.

“Lang Huang, the correct answers are only 50%. He failed!”

“Dong Yu, the correct answers are only 25%. He failed!”

“Hou Xinyi, the correct answers are only 89%. He failed!”

“Lai Wei, the correct answers are 91%. He passed!”

“Cai Yun, the correct answers are only 8%. Damn it, how did even this guy have the nerve to come here with this kind of score? He is just tiring us. He totally failed!”

“Hu Chao only got 87% correct questions. He failed!”

“Yun Qiu— wait, is that Yun Qiu from the Yun Clan? I heard that he’s a young genius Alchemist. I didn’t expect he would take the exam this early. His correct answers are 95%, as expected from the descendants of the Yun Clan. He passed!”

Before two hours had passed, the three Master Alchemists managed to check and assess the exam papers.

“A—h, I’m done~ This is too much work for me. I’d rather concocted a hundred pills instead of doing this laborious job.” The Master Alchemist, who was sitting in the middle, leaned back on the chair.

“Don’t complain too much, Chen Yazhu. We’ve already accepted this job, so we have to finish it to the end. However, this exam’s participants are indeed far more numerous than last year. I think the association should start opening branches in small towns.” The other Master Alchemy spoke suggestively.

“You’re right, Master Wu. But unfortunately, the association is short on manpower. Although the number of the examinee increases every year, there are never more than ten who pass. Just like now, only 17 people out of 250 have passed this written exam. I bet they will get more short out in the next round.” Chen Yazhu laughed lightly.

Master Wu smiled and said, “Well, it can’t be helped. After all, the requirements to become an Apprentice Alchemist are very high. Although there are many people who have the potential to become an Apprentice Alchemist, very few people are capable of it.”

The Apprentice Alchemist Exam screening process was very rigorous. Some geniuses may be able to pass the exam in one try, but some can only stay stuck in the first round of exams for years or even for the rest of their lives.

However, this could not be blamed on the Secondary Profession Association. After all, to become a qualified Apprentice Alchemist, one must have a fundamental knowledge of theories of alchemy.

Although these written exams are extremely difficult, the questions written on the exam papers are the necessary knowledge that the Apprentice Alchemists must master.

If the examinees can’t even achieve this much, they should have stopped dreaming of advancing to the next round of exams.

In the spacious lobby area…

Unlike most people who are worried about their exam results coming out soon, Qin Yi, on the other hand, was casually walking around the people and doing extractions here and there.

As a result, he got all kinds of alchemy ingredients that he didn’t have before. He also got many books related to alchemy, formation, talisman, artifact refining, and even cooking.

After all, the ones gathered in this lobby were not only the examinees who were proficient in alchemy but also in four other fields.

Even though Qin Yi did not have the talent to become a Talisman Maker and Spiritual Chef, he still appreciatively received these knowledge books from the system.

At this moment, Kang Yi suddenly came over to him.

He begrudgingly said, “You sure are so calm about this.”

Qin Yi shrugged and said, “No way, I’m pretty nervous right now~.”

Kang Yi snorted and said, “You don’t look like one!”

Unlike Qin Yi, Kang Yi was very anxious about his exam results this time.

This is already his third time taking the exam for Apprentice Alchemist Exam. He did not even get fifty percent of his answers correct in the two previous times and still had five papers undone. He had already versed himself with things that he was unfamiliar with and came to get himself tested again.

Before coming, he secretly vowed to himself that he would pass it this round!

However, he never expected that this test would be even more complex than the previous ones.

For the exam this time, he had even prepared some small cheat sheets on his sleeves. But for some reason, one Master Alchemist kept staring at him and prevented him from cheating.

In the end, Kang Yi could only finish fifteen papers. It was even worse than the exam last year.

Needless to say, Kang Yi knew that he definitely failed the test.

He knows that this can’t be blamed on anyone but him. However, when he accidentally saw Qin Yi nonchalantly walking around in the lobby like there was no burden in his life, for some reason, he felt irritated.

Could it be this newbie is doing well in this written exam?

Kang Yi refused to believe this. Hence, he decided to approach Qin Yi with slight ill intention.

“Qin Yi, how many papers have you done?” Kang Yi asked.

Qin Yi replied casually, “All of them.”

“All of them?” Kang Yi felt like he had just heard a joke.

“Be honest, brat. There’s no need to be embarrassed about it. I bet you can’t even finish ten papers, right?”

Qin Yi shrugged his shoulders helplessly, “I really got it all done. It’s just; I’m not so sure that my answers are all correct.”

Kang Yi still couldn’t believe that someone who was much younger and more inexperienced than him could do better in this written exam than him.

Thus, he shorted and said, “You’re right. You may actually finish all the papers, but you’re just haphazardly answering the questions. However, you must know, one should better leave the questions empty than answer them with nonsense and pretense theory…”

“Your bad actions will only provoke the nerves of the Master Alchemists. Once they get angry, you’ll be late for regrets. Not only could you be disqualified from this exam, but the Secondary Profession Association could also permanently ban you. Therefore, I advise you to be careful with this joke of yours before it reaches the ears of Master Alchemists.”

Hearing Kang Yi’s speech, everyone immediately looked over. Even Yun Qiu and Xue Chan couldn’t help but turn their heads towards the two of them.

Qin Yi frowned. He didn’t expect their conversation to escalate to this point.

Only then did he realize that this Kang Yi was actually this type of person: a loser who couldn’t accept that other people did better than him.

Qin Yi has no patience with this kind of guy.

He usually respects his seniors, but when his seniors have no respect for their juniors, what’s the point for him to maintain their junior-senior relationship any longer?

Qin Yi is an easy-going person, but he can still get angry when others throw cheap slander against him.

However, just as he was about to open his mouth, Master Wu came out of the hall. He walked over to the bulletin board and posted five pieces of paper on it.

Everyone immediately jostled to see their exam results on the bulletin board as if they had completely forgotten about the affair just now.

The atmosphere in the hall, which had been quiet due to Qin Yi and Kang Yi’s one-sided dispute, had now become clamorous.

“A—h damn it, I’m only 1% away from passing!” Someone said lamentably.

“This is the tenth time I failed the written exam. How should I deal with my grandchildren? I guess it’s time to retire…”

“How is that possible? I can’t even pass 10%…”

At this moment, Master Wu suddenly shouted: “For the examinees who get results of 90% and above, follow me!”

Qin Yi saw his test score was 91%.

Honestly, he felt a bit proud of his exam results. After all, he didn’t cheat at all.

Initially, he thought that he would need a little cheat in this written exam. But the questions turned out to be easier than he thought. Although some parts were too hard to answer, most of them were still within the range of the knowledge he had learned.

The corner of Qin Yi’s mouth rose slightly.

He took a glance at Kang Yi beside him.

Kang Yi’s mouth opened wide as he looked at the bulletin board; it could even fit an adult’s fist.

Kang Yi saw that his own score was only 60%, which was even lower than last year. However, when he saw Qin Yi’s score, he almost fainted on the spot.

Qin Yi smiled as he patted Kang Yi’s shoulder lightly, “I have to go. I’m sorry for being younger and more inexperienced than you. I guess I don’t have the qualifications to talk to you anymore, Senior Kang. Farewell~”

Kang Yi did not respond.. The people around him could see his soul about to leave his body.
