The number of safety camps on the first floor was unknown.
It’s the big world after all. All of them varies, but the one Kyoya was going to was known to be indomitable. Its walls were tall, looking sturdy. There were archers with good eyesight put atop it constantly looking around.
Below, a few adventurers were patrolling the lands near the gate that was always ready to close upon a call. Those adventurers were loyal to the leader of this safety camp meaning their equipment was strong.
Kyoya was not aware, but there was another reason for those people to be so rich in the equipment.
It was to make sure that no one leaves the safety camp. Once you sign in, you are forced to stay within the camp at least until the chaos calms down. The constant battles and stressful environment affects the adventurers who are trying to profit here yet they get caught up by the stronger people.
If one wants to leave the floor, then one has to be in a proper, calm state.
“This is a recruit.”
“I will take him then. The rest can go inside.”
“Thanks.”
There were strict rules and even the gate had a careful identification process.
When the adventurers provided enough information, they left Kyoya alone with one loyal dude. He was loyal to the leader of this safety camp – Bruno. A new identification token had to be made for Kyoya, so both of them ventured inside.
The insides of the safety camp were filled with a lot of tents.
Those tents were variegating from the small plain ones to the big ones! Each of such a big tent could cover at least two houses size-wise. It was this big and it was mostly occupied by the parties who had a strong belief in each other.
Even so, they had to enter the safety camp and become loyal to someone else.
Regardless of that, the trust could be only between them so they were all close.
Kyoya was naturally followed by the goblin from the third floor. His wife was also floating on his back yet the robe was not enough to cover her legs, so a little could be seen. It was pretty bad, but Kyoya just wanted to learn more about other people here.
There might be some key to his problems too.
The answers can be found everywhere after all.
It was not hard to silence Xaya as no one was bothering them. The appearance of the ‘guide’ was enough to tell that Kyoya is going to give something valuable just to stay in this safety camp meaning that Bruno is the one to receive those.
No one was stupid enough to fight against this man.
“Mister! Help me! Please… Help me!”
There was a sudden ‘event’ unfolding before Kyoya’s eyes though.
He was looking for the answer to his problem, and this very answer bumped into him as she cried for help. It was a small girl around ten years old. Her body was wounded and there were some scars and fresh wounds on her!
The small girl didn’t evoke any ‘cold’ emotions out from Xaya, so Kyoya knew that the girl is the key. There is no way for the children to have any ‘filthy’ feelings towards her and Kyoya, but just pure emotions.
She was crying and deeply begging for help yet the guide quickly grabbed her hair.
“Ahhh!”
“Hey, this is just a child…”
“A meat shield you mean?”
“…”
Kyoya inhaled deeply when his ears recorded that cruel term. He couldn’t believe his ears even after that… The children were treated as ‘meat shields’ which is way too cruel. The only reason for them to be here is because their parents wished to live on the first floor, that’s all.
Why no one tried to calm them down and just allow them to go to the ‘normal world’ outside the pillar with someone else?
“No! I don’t want to go here! No! No!”
A small lady threw her hands around trying to reach Kyoya. Her eyes let out more tears while doing so causing Kyoya to unconsciously step towards her. There were other loyal men though, so she was being carried away at a rapid pace.
Nevertheless, Kyoya still went after her and found out the huge tent which should belong to one of the ‘big parties’.
Yet this tent was the place where the meat shields were gathered.
Kyoya could peek a little as the loyal men had to shove the small lady inside. His eyes spotted a lot of children being held like slaves with the food being in front of them on the ground… This was a treatment that shook his heart way too much.
There is no way for so young children to survive alone without the guidance of an adult.
There was just no way yet the adults were worse than the monsters. The grotesque monsters eat the flesh, so if a person can die in the pillar, then this person dies… It’s different when one is the resident, but still…
It was worse.
“Why are you so bothered by those brats? They have no one, so their lives are going to end up with quick death whether here or in the normal worlds.”
“…”
“If you want to live, then better behave here. Remember where you are.”
The attitude of the guide was already different.
His voice was emotionless when Kyoya was still outside the safety camp, but within their territory, Kyoya was no longer the adventurer who could pose them any threat. He was as if naked here and so his techniques were already theirs.
He has no way of leaving, but only joining in and becoming the slave of their safety camp.
“Are you serious?”
“If we will be able to use your taming skills, then we might be able to widen our influence around. More and more brats should fall into our hands by then… All of those brats will be given to you then and so you can be their nanny. Haha!”
The guide laughed, then raised his voice.
“Mr. Bruno is waiting for you. FOLLOW ME!”
“Don’t order me around… Filth.”
“Haha! Filth? Every adventurer is filth! All for survival! Ugh! What is this feeling?”
It was taunt skill.
Anoke was using his taunt forcing the guide to look at him. The new skill was useful here as Kyoya already had enough of this place. He found his answer and it was enough… He turned around and took out his bow.
His wife delightful passed an arrow, then the bowstring met its comrade.
“What is he doing?”
“He can not kill him anyway… A guide and Bruno’s people don’t have any desire to go higher… All they seek is luxury.”
Onlookers commented quietly, but then their eyes went wide. The utmost silence swallowed up the place as Kyoya had that power to kill everyone here. No matter whether one was a resident or not, their bodies can turn into EXP.
Becoming EXP means death.
“”””…””””
“He died? B-but why? What?”
