Chapter 20: Girlfriend
Yuki didn’t need to supervise the twins.
It would take them some time to learn the swordsmanship skills she had given them, so she decided to follow Reylin and check on him.
His decision had been excellent so far.
He didn’t reveal his identity, checked his skills with guards, and then invaded the noble house.
After that, everything turned out rather as she expected… “He is too loud.”
From the report she had received before, Yuki had her own thoughts about him. So far, he had been very talkative and composed but also astute. That was because the flames were by his side.
In the infiltration route, Reylin was too silent and clearly bothered by the lack of his companion.
He was a pyromaniac, but just a little different.
However, in the noble house, he couldn’t stop himself from revealing his flames, which perfectly fit his personality.
“…” Yuki’s ice eyes rippled with surprise a few times after Reylin’s outburst.
“Why did he change his battle style?” She thought loudly while looking at Reylin’s battle against the noble.
He did well and used all his cards, leveraging the black robes and threatening the noble with dark matter experiments. That was well done, but the close fighting was what surprised Yuki the most.
He learned too fast.
Did he know he would learn it that well?
Or was the strong opponent the factor that sped up his growth?
Yuki stared at the low-level player with high interest, then Reylin faced the first and only life-threatening move.
In that close distance, he wouldn’t be able to defend himself.
Yuki whispered, “Cold Age: Snow Tear.”
A sturdy snowflake conjured itself before the rapier and stopped it from killing Reylin.
From his reaction, Yuki inferred that Reylin knew it was her. She smiled and looked forward to his next moves.
And that was when Yuki learned about Reylin’s singing talent.
“Hahahaha!”
He sang while punching the despaired noble, his fire release coating his hands. Each punch cost him a few mana points, but that was no problem from what Yuki could see.
He then spread his arms, summoned fireballs from both hands, then joined these, “Fire Release!” His two skills merged together, and a powerful bomb exploded on the noble’s face, utterly melting his skin and flesh.
He died soon after from excessive bleeding and a high lethal wound.
“Do you feel sad?” Reylin asked.
Yuki exposed herself and looked at the unrecognizable face, “I don’t. What about you?”
“I feel too good. I just learned one of the best skills, you know? It’s on par with my pyromaniac passive one.” He smirked and faced Yuki, “Thanks for the help. I will repay that in the future.”
“All for the Blue Rose Kingdom.” Yuki closed her eyes as she replied.
But once her ice hues greeted the world again, she saw Reylin shaking his head, “I will repay you, got it?”
“Got it.” Yuki didn’t argue, though she felt a little weird inside.
“I will be on my way now,” Reylin smiled and patted off his robes, “As you could see, I am not that good at infiltration, but if you don’t mind your enemies getting blown up by me, then don’t hold back and call me.”
“I will keep that in mind,” Yuki nodded and turned around.
After she disappeared, Reylin scoured the whole mansion!
–
“You came back without the quest done!” Layla rolled her eyes, “Give me something interesting, he said,” She mimicked Reylin’s tone, then sighed.
Reylin was back in the beginner city, so he decided to visit the high mage and her shop.
It was evening already, and just a few players visited the shop.
At this point, Layla didn’t mind putting on the door ‘Closed’ sign. She did it just now, then turned around to look at Reylin.
He was sitting behind the desk, next to Monica, his hand brushing her brown hair.
The lazy woman’s eyes slowly opened, and she looked at Reylin with a thoughtful expression, “Your hand is warm, so patting is good.”
“Oh, thanks. It’s still warm after I’ve killed some evil noble.” Reylin chuckled.
“It’s warm and clean anyway,” Monica replied and leaned closer to him.
She ended up putting her head on his lap and exposing her whole face to him. Her eyes closed, and she returned to her nap while Reylin just played with her hair and face as if experimenting with something.
“Don’t taint my Monica,” Layla said, then went upstairs to bring a chair for herself.
After she returned with it, Layla put it before the counter and leaned down, supporting her head with one hand, “So what happened in these two days? You are level 20 now… Isn’t that fast?”
Reylin pinched Monica’s cheek before explaining, “I told you I have a talent for flames. I leveled up fast because I fucked up a lot of people with my talent… and then I got caught up by Blue Rose.”
“I knew it! That conflagration in the forest was you! Oh my god…” Layla shook her head, her hands on her chest as she inhaled deeply. “I am glad no one died… Wait… Why are you here then?” She pondered, bringing out chuckles from Reylin.
“Haha! Why am I here? Guess?” He just laughed more, his eyes looking into Layla’s.
“I don’t know? Some deal with Blue Rose?” Layla replied, a little interested.
“Well, you are halfway right,” Reylin didn’t reveal much.
Instead, he fished out a few pieces of jewelry from his inventory and spread them on the desk. Those were jewelry level fifty noble gathered and treasured, so their value was high.
Although Layla had seen many treasures, once she went independent, her values changed, and she looked at those seriously.
She raised her eyes at Reylin, “What do you want for these?”
“Money, of course,” Reylin replied, then picked one jewelry, “This one will be for free, however.”
“For me? Why?”
“I have to give presents from time to time. Especially for you since you will be my girlfriend soon,” Reylin nodded a few times, leaving Layla speechless.
She was forced to agree that this youngster had galls!
In an instant, Layla changed and spoke as an adult, “First of all! I have to reprimand you. Think twice before you use your flames! Killing innocent people is no good, and you won’t get anything for it, you reckless player!”
“I had a different view. My bad.” Reylin instantly replied.
Layla got flustered from that fast response and belatedly reacted, “If you know, then fine… Secondly, I am ten years older than you. Girlfriend?” She crossed her arms beneath her ample chest, “I am not interested in kids. There’s nothing you can give me… And you would only make me worried with such a crazy personality.”
“You are pretty serious about it… I find it cute, to be honest. Anyway, kid? What’s the legal age in this world anyway? Not like it matters as, in three months, I am 18. Don’t worry about that, Layla.” Reylin chuckled.
“I don’t care,” Layla looked to the side, then peeked at the jewelry, “It’s stolen, isn’t it? I must be careful with it.”
Reylin yawned, “Don’t change the topic, Layla.”
Layla glared at him, saying no word.
“And here I wanted to tell you what exactly happened… All I can tell is that Roses here have a lot of colors, don’t they?” Reylin tilted his head and looked deeply into Layla’s eyes.
She just stood silent, and a slight worry transpired on her face, “Whatever deal you’ve made, don’t give them too much, Reylin.”
“Don’t be so worried about me. It’s them giving me now… So want to know more?” Reylin said.
Layla was indeed interested, both naturally and due to her worry, but she wouldn’t just go with this youngster’s flow. Therefore, she didn’t say anything and just glared at him with a slightly wronged expression.
Reylin ended up laughing, “Become my girlfriend for the rest of the day then. It’s just an hour, isn’t it?”
“Why are you so stubborn? Am I not that beautiful, and it’s been just a few days? You want to score me?” Layla asked.
“It’s like business, really. And if you let me do you in that one hour, it would be you scoring me instead, wouldn’t it be?” Reylin reversed her words and made Layla’s face contort further!
She looked both a little too annoyed but still cute.
“What business?”
“You have talent since your quest gives me S Reward. I have flame talent too, so I can help you with your business. Who knows? Maybe I can make some good flame skills for your shop to sell, and make it prosper. This is business.” Reylin explained.
“So why do I have to be your girlfriend?”
“Because I am not a businessman.”
For the first time, Layla became loss at words, and her lips parted so much her chin nearly hit the desk.
“Come again?”
“I am not a businessman.”
