Cain put his arm over her shoulders, drawing her closer as he whispered into her ear, “Yeah, and it’s personal. But if you’re really interested, then we can talk more about it inside our room.”
“That tickles,” Kimmy giggled, feeling Cain nudge his nose right below her ear.
“Let’s go,” Cain said, leading her towards their bedroom. However, Kimmy stopped them in their tracks, looking at him suspiciously.
“Why does it have to be in the bedroom? Why can’t we talk in the living room instead?” Her eyes widened as she saw the naughty grin on Cain’s face, “Stop that! I know what you’re thinking, and it’s a big NO!”
She shook her head. She couldn’t believe how… voracious he was acting in terms of having her hands all over her when he should be resting!
Cain let out a long sigh as he murmured, “But I’m perfectly fine. I know my body well, Kimberly. If you want, we can go to the hospital right now just to have someone give me a clean bill of health. Honestly, I have a few questions for Calvin about my condition.”
“Why? What’s wrong? Do you feel something different or weird?” Kimmy immediately asked with worry. Dr. Calvin had told her earlier to call him if there was something unusual with Cain or if he felt any symptoms. However, he had also reassured that Cain’s condition had more surprisingly positive outcomes than expected.
Cain smiled, “No, sweetie… I’m perfectly fine. It’s just that I feel more… Hmmm, how do I describe it… Invigorated than usual?”
“Alright, fine. Let’s just go to the hospital anyway, just so that we can both stop worrying about all this,” Kimmy sighed, before they soon left the house to see Doctor Calvin at the Lewis Hospital.
Upon arriving, Calvin was surprised by the sudden visit.
“Chairman… Is something wrong?” he instantly asked as soon as he saw Cain and Kimmy enter his clinic.
“Nothing like that. It’s just that I want a full briefing about my condition,” Cain commented with a smile.
Calvin nodded and showed Cain his CT scans alongside the results of other tests on his computer screen. The doctor use his pen to point at the scans.
“You see this? You had an extreme case of hemorrhaging hern in your head. You were as good as dead when you arrived here, and yet your pulse was normal along with your vitals. Looking at all of that, we decided to do the surgery,” Calvin explained.
“To be honest, we usually don’t have a very high success rate on surgeries with your condition. It was actually weird, and we couldn’t even explain what happened in the operating room on that day. I mean, everything went surprisingly well, and the large-scale bleeding seemed to have subsided, making it easier for us to do damage control. It’s really a miracle that we somehow saved you, since we can’t really scientifically explain it,” Calvin stated.
“I see…” Cain whispered with a frown as he stared at the monitor. “Can you do a full check-up on me now? Kimberly’s worrying too much about me doing strenuous activities like… ‘bed exercises’. Still, I feel perfectly fine, as if I’ve fully recovered already,” Cain requested, making Kimmy blush hard out of embarrassment that she elbowed Cain on the side in retaliation.
Calvin chuckled at the couple’s antics. With a teasing tone, he said, “Sure, no worries. Let’s check on you then and see if you’re as perfectly fit as you think you are. Maybe you really are for all kinds of… ‘exercises’.”
Kimmy was so embarrassed that she wanted to pull out Cain’s hair right then and there. The doctor assisted them, and she accompanied Cain all the way throughout all of his laboratory tests.
“Why don’t you just wait for me in my office?” Cain asked her, but Kimmy shook her head and muttered, “It’s boring there. I’d rather just stay with you here so that I can also hear what Dr. Calvin had to say. I mean, what if you tricked me?” ᴀll ᴏᴠʟ Fuʟʟ.cᴏm
Cain chuckled and pinched her cheek, “You’re so cute when you’re worried. Fine. Stay with me then.”
Before long, they finished all of the laboratory tests the doctor needed. They just simply needed a few more minutes for the results to come out. Since it was lunchtime already, Kimmy pulled Cain out to have lunch together inside the hospital restaurant while they waited for the results.
“By the way, where do you want to stay once we got married?” Cain asked.
Kimmy had a pout and murmured, “Why ask me? You know that I’m basically homeless, so I’ll just stay where my husband wants me to stay.”
Kimmy then realized that she had achieved absolutely nothing with her own efforts. All she had right now was because she was born into it… She had no career at all, and as usual, she had no particular goals in life. What did she even want to do for herself?
Cain noticed her sudden change in her mood, so he asked, “What is it?”
“Nothing… It’s just that aside from being a member of the Royal family… I’m basically nothing,” she dishearteningly murmured.
“That’s not true. You’re the most precious thing in my life, so don’t say you’re nothing…”
Kimmy sighed, “I mean, I haven’t achieved anything at all besides being a pain in the ass for my family. Up till now, I don’t even know what I want to do with my life. Like I don’t have a goal. I’m still the same as before,” she murmured.
“But you did achieve something very important… Being Cain Lewis’s wife… Mrs. Lewis… That’s something too, you know,” Cain encouraged. “It’s a great achievement to be a good housewife, so don’t overthink things that don’t matter too much and just focus on your husband alone. I mean, who needs achievements when you have me? Our future family? That’s the greatest achievement of all, I think. So how about making that your only goal?”
Kimmy’s face reddened as she mumbled, “Stop that… Stop teasing me… Don’t you want a wife that you can be proud of? Like, look at Brione? She was something big aside from being the Queen that she is now.”
“Well, I don’t need a wife with a big name or any great achievement attached to them, Kimberly. What for? What makes me proud is having the love of my life loving me back, willing to create a family with me… How about considering bearing me lots of children as one of your big achievements aside from being the Princess that you are now?”
Kimmy’s blushed as she gently hit Cain’s chest, “Stop teasing and making jokes. I’m serious!”
“But I’m serious, too, Kimberly. I’m dead serious right now,” Cain answered, pulling her into a tight embrace as he added, “Just stay by my side. Be a good housewife and a mother to our future kids while you can’t think of things that you want to do yet. And when you finally decide on what other things you might want to achieve, I will always be right here to support you. I’ll always have your back, okay?”
Kimmy felt so utterly blessed. It got to the point that she honestly questioned if she deserved such a great man like Cain. But even if she didn’t, she would definitely not let him go ever, no matter what. She would do anything to be someone deserving of his love.
