Chapter 3 - Human Stupidity...

Kairen closed his eyes as he took a deep breath. The slightly cold wind of the night blew past his face. He could finally get out of that damn infirmary. His struggles finally worked out!

“We are here. it’s the dormitory.”

But it didn’t exactly end as he wanted. Kairen didn’t even want to think about what he went through to persuade Reyan that he would be fine even without going through the endless tests that the doctor had talked about. That he would be fine just by some rest. Kairen thought and actually wished, that he would really be transferred back home when he opens his eyes the next morning. And at the other hand, he was too tired to think and deal with anything more today. Maybe Reyan noticed that as well to finally let him get out of that place.

“Come, this way.”

“Ah… yes.”

And now he stood in the entrance of the dormitory of this academy or anything they called it. He had no other choice as he was homeless now so he just came with Reyan to the dormitory. No, he wasn’t acting thoughtless, he even considered sleeping in the streets this night… But.. you see, there was a really strong “friend” who didn’t let him do as he pleased.

They started walking towards the tall building in front of them. Reyan lightly greeted the watchmen as they entered the building. Kairen was greeted with a huge yard the moment he set his foot in.

“Wow!”

Even at night, the yard was illuminated with a massive number of lights that the whole place could be seen clearly.

The road from the entrance of the yard to the building was made with some beautiful stones he didn’t even know the name of. There were tall trees on both sides of the road accompanied by beautiful flowers. Neatly cut grass was spread throughout the ground and filled the spaces between the roads. And at the end of the main road stood a tall, gorgeous building, so eye-catching that no one could ignore its presence. A little past the building, he could see a big garden with lots of trees, grass, benches, tables, and even a pool in the middle spread out through the whole width of the yard. There were cats here and there, curled up and preparing themselves to sleep.

Besides the building in front of him, there was another building exactly the same as the other one. Kairen supposed one to be boys’ and the other to be girls’ dormitories. Other small and large structures could be seen in the yard as well.

Kairen was standing in front of the entrance, staring blankly at the building with his mouth wide open. He had only seen this kind of buildings on TV or the internet. The watchman and people around him were looking at him with odd expressions on their faces but Kairen didn’t notice it as he was carefully observing the buildings. Reyan, noticing the mood around him, came near his friend and polled his arm.

“Let’s head in…”

“Huh? Oh, ok!”

Kairen, who had finally snapped out of it, followed behind Reyan and entered the building. Just like outside, the inside of the building was not something you could call ordinary. The floor, stairs, and walls were made out of the same marble used on the outer design of the building, and the elevator was designed by it as well. Everywhere was so bright that his eyes were starting to hurt. He couldn’t even look at other details as his mind was filled with questions.

‘Is it really boys dormitory?’

It was too clean! Everywhere was sparkling! How is that possible?

‘Isn’t this place too silent?’

it was indeed silent.

Just like that, with his mouth wide open once again, he followed Reyan into the elevator. There were so many floors but Reyan pressed floor 6 bottom and the elevator started moving. Kairen couldn’t hold himself anymore as he asked a question that was in his mind.

“Isn’t it too quiet here?”

“Midterm exams are going on so there are few people with free time to play around.”

“Oh.”

understandable.

Ding.

The elevator stopped moving at the moment as they arrived at their destination. There was a wide corridor on the 6th floor with 2 doors on each side of it.

“our room is the second one on the right.”

Reyan said that as he walked forward. He stood in front of the said door and took out his keys.

The door on the left side opened at the same time and a boy exited it with a pile of books in his hands. He stopped moving the moment he saw Kairen. The boy looked at Kairen for a moment then opened his mouth.

“Hey Kairen, I heard you got into some accident in your exam? You fine?”

He said that with a mocking smile on his face as he stared at Kairen’s eyes.

“….”

Kairen didn’t know who he was and didn’t want to answer him either, but the guy kept staring at Kairen as if demanding an answer from him.

“…that’s right.”

Kairen gave a short answer and quickly walked to Reyan who was glancing at Kairen and the boy.

“Pfftt.”

He heard laughter from behind him. The boy then started walking again, entered the elevator, and left.

“What the… Who was that?”

“…don’t mind him. That’s not important right now.”

Reyan finally opened the door and they entered their… room…?

‘It is so big!’

This room was bigger than his house! There were two beds each at one side of it, a sofa, a small table, and a carpet under them in the middle of the room. besides each bed were a study table, chair, closet, and bookshelf. There was even a barrier to separate two sides of the room if they wanted to. With lots of other stuff here and there, this room was really better than his own house.

But wasn’t it a waste? Why make such a huge place for only 2 people? did they just want to somehow waste their money?

“Tch”

Kairen clicked his tongue as he shook his head. This place was unnecessarily big. And come to think of it, there must be a place as big as this one for girls as well. Kairen shook his head again after thinking about all the money these stupid people had wasted.

‘Just make small rooms, is this a hotel?’

Reyan was observing his friend who was standing in front of the door, klick his tongue and shake his head all of a sudden.

“What are you doing…?”

“Human stupidity has no end!”

Kairen said that with some unknown disappointment in his voice as shook his head again.

“My poor friend…”

The shock must have been too great.. Reyan was really feeling sad for his friend right now.
