As Kurayami walked through Grigori many fallen angels bowed lightly. As he was the son of one of their leaders he deserved respect on top of being a Loginous user. Of course, there were those who looked at him with scorn as he was a hybrid, but it didn’t bother him. They were jealous of his heritage.
While he was not paying attention to his surroundings as he was in deep thought until he bumped into a small black-haired girl who was running through the halls.
She fell down and looked quite scared as she never spoke to others. He looked down at her and thought she was a pretty cute kid. He wondered who her parents were.
“You ok?”
He extended his hand and the girl took his hand. She looked a little jumpy and couldn’t look him in the eye. She muttered..
“Thank You.”
He looked over and thought she was a little adorable.
“What’s your name?”
She looked down to avoid looking him in the eyes.
“Raynare.”
(She is part fallen angel and part human and my Au.)
“My name is Kurayami, son of Baraqiel.”
She looked down and hid her tears. He was confused.
“Why are you crying?”
She turned around.
“I don’t have parents. They died because of me.”
He didn’t know what to say as he was not the emotional kind.
“What happened?”
She shook her head.
“No. It’s too painful.”
She shook her head as her tears fell down her face in droves.
‘Should I just sneak away? Yeah. She won’t even notice me leaving.’
However, Rebellion began to tell him to help her.
‘How? I don’t know how to express my emotions, or help with them..’
It also didn’t know, but it felt it was wrong to let this girl keep crying. He just patted her head. She looked up and into his hollow eyes while wiping her tears.
“Your eyes are weird?”
He shrugged.
“I can barely feel emotions and I don’t know how to help you.”
She looked down as he seemed weird.
“What is it like to not feel anything?”
He lifted his head and thought about it.
“Empty. You move like a machine and I can’t feel fear, and I don’t care about myself.”
He thought of his family, but he didn’t know what love was. Did he love them or was it a need to protect what took care of him? He did just not know.
“Well enough about me. What do you want to do?”
She looked down and also did know.
“I don’t know either, but at least you were nice to me.”
He and Raynare just began to walk around talking. She looked at his right arm and saw the red tattoo on his arm.
“Why do you have that tattoo?” He looked at the marks on his arm.
“My sword can become a tatoo for easier access.”
Raynare looked interested until he summoned Rebellion which he rested on his shoulder. She looked at it with awe.
“It loos cool.”
He just nodded.
“Cool? I guess it is.”
He put it away after a while she looked at it with awe.
“Can I get one like it?”
He looked at her and thought of it.
“If you get strong enough maybe. Azazel made it and he won’t waste materials of this quality easily, so you gotta earn it. Although it won’t be easy.”
She looked down and held her right hand.
“I will think about it.”
She looked a little nervous, but he didn’t know why. Maybe she had dangerous sacred gear or something.
“Hey, Raynare. Do you have sacred gear? I have a Longinus by the way.”
She looked a little freaked out but nodded.
“I hate it. It killed my parents.”
She was going to tell her that was stupid, but his sword shocked him.
‘Ok. You don’t have to shock me.’ He looked at her and sighed.
“You know. Hating your sacred gear is good and all, but it will be with you for life. Anyway, I should go.”
She looked at him leaving and ran after him.
“I have no friends as the other kids at the orphanage are our for themselves. Can I be your friend?” She looked down and he tilted his head.
“Me? You know I can’t feel anything right?”
She shook her head.
“That can’t be true. You helped me when I was sad, so you must be lying.” He was going to tell her he only helped because Rebellion told him to.
“Fine, but only if you tell me what your sacred gear is.” She was going to say no, but it was better than losing the only person who was nice to her.
“Blaze Black Flame.”
‘A Vritra sacred gear. Doesn’t Azazel have two others of the same type? Does he even know she has them? She might have hidden it in her self-hate.
“Well since you told me mine is Incinerate Anthem.” She looked at him wide-eyed as not only was he the son of a Cadre he had a Longinus of the level.
“Well, you want to meet Azazel?” She nodded like crazy.
“Who wouldn’t? He is the Governor-General of Grigori. I really want to meet him.” He motioned her to follow him. Along the way she blushed and asked him a question.
“How many wings do you have?” He looked over and saw her nervous.
“2 sets. Why?” She looked down.
“I find it hard to ask that. I only have 1 pair.” He looked her over and didn’t find that hard to believe. Growing more pairs was not easy, but training made it possible. However, most who grow more have lineage to back it up. He was a good example.
When he got to Azazel’s lab he knocked on it. Azazel yelled out a moment later.
“Give me a moment.” Azazel was tinkering with his metal stores trying to see what he would try to do next time with Kurayami’s flames. Soon he opened the door and when he saw who it was he smiled.
“So who is she?” Kurayami’s eyebrows were raised.
“I thought you knew every fallen.” Azazel broke out laughing.
“Are you crazy? How am I supposed to know all of them? Although is she, part human?” Kurayami nodded.
“Her name is Raynare. She wanted to meet you.”
When Azazel looked at her she felt like she just met a celebrity.
“Hi. I met Kurayami earlier. He said he knew you.” Azazel patted her head.
“Yup. This kid is my bro. Also, his sacred gear is quite nice to use for our weapons.” She knew it was a fire control sacred gear like hers. ‘Maybe I can be useful as well.’
“I have one too.”
He looked at her and was surprised.
“Come in.” They both entered the lab and he looked at her.
“Do you know which it is?” She nodded.
“Blaze Black Flame.” Azazel was impressed.
“What do you know? I own two more of the same type. If you want I can give them to you. You will help Grigori if you are stronger.”
She wanted to be stronger, but accepting her sacred gear was not easy. Not after what happened. Suddenly Kurayami patted her head.
“Trust me. Fearing your lifelong power will end badly, so try to think about it. You don’t have to though.” She looked down but decided to think about it.
“I will think about it.” Azazel nodded.
“Well you don’t need to accept them, but can you practice your current one. Can you control the flames?” She held her hand up and a small black flame lit up. Kurayami looked at that with jealousy.
“Why are my flames purple then?”
He held up his hand where light purple flames burned.
Azazel was interested in what would happen if he used both in his works.
“Hey, you two. Come here for a sec.” They both walked to him where he pulled out a small device.
“Place your hands on either end and send your flames in.” They did what he said and when their flames met they began to devour each other as they were direct opposites. They got stronger and more violent until Azazel told them to stop.
“Good news Kurayami. If your blade accepts it maybe we can imbue both holy and dark. Raynare if you want you will join his training until you feel you can accept the Vritra sacred gears. What do you say?”
She looked at Kuroyami and nodded. ‘As long as he is my friend.’ Azazel felt it was great. Hybrids with sacred gears were usually better than normal humans. As sacred gears use huge stamina drain and hybrids can use their sacred gears without the weakness of a human body.
After that Azazel started to plan a training plan for her.
“Hey, Raynare. Do you have anyone you stay with?” She shook her head and pulled out a card.
“My dad told me to use this to come here if something happened. I was just picked up by some Fallen and stayed at the orphanage.”
What happened was any Fallen child, hybrid or not who lost their parents in any way were taken to a special orphanage for them as hybrids they had quite a bit of potential. Any that had sacred gears were taken in with the best training, but some like Raynare hid that they had any.
“Well, I can ask Baraqiel if he can take you in. Two sacred gear users will be better for us. When you feel you can accept the other two sacred gears just tell me.” She nodded and walked away with Kuroyami.
“Hey, Kurayami. How strong is my sacred gear?”
He looked at her and thought about it.
“Vritra is a dragon king, but he was one of the evil dragons, so he was pretty strong. His soul was split into 6 sacred gears with one of them being yours. Azazel has two of them which could be yours, but pretty strong.” She thought about it as she wanted to be useful.
“Will I grow more wings in the future if I use it?” He looked at her and shrugged.
“I don’t know. Depends on who your parents were, but with your sacred gear you could grow more.” She thought of her dad. He only had three pairs of wings, but she heard stories from her dad that her grandfather had 16. His power was scary which her dad didn’t get, but she did.
“I will tell you who my grandfather is. I never met him, but dad said he was a great father.” She looked a curious to meet him, but no luck. He was intested.
“Who is it?” She whispered in his ear.
“Azrael.” His eyes opened up wide.
“The angel of death?” She nodded.
“He was cast out long ago, but he is not in Grigori. Dad said that at the start of the war he fought for heaven, but mid-way he fell and joined Grigori for a time. Now, some say he is on Cocytus or Tartarus. I don’t know.”
‘She has such a lineage and a sacred gear. This is great. Who better to be my first friend. Although I wished she was older, kids are a little annoying. How many times has Akeno bit me thinking I am food.’
“Hey. You don’t bite when you sleep right?”
She thought that was weird.
“No. Why would I?” He told her why.
“My twin sister bites at night. The number of times I wake up to her trying to rip off a chunk of me is more than I can count.” She began to laugh a little at him.
“Does it hurt?” He pulled back his collar to show his most recent bite. Raynare thought they were little bites, but it looks like she was determined to eat him.
“Is your sister a cannibal? She wants to eat you.” He nodded.
“I don’t plan to sleep in her room anymore. I will end up with a chunk of me gone. Well, let’s go see my dad.” She followed him until they found Baraqiel with a pondering look. ‘How do I tell Kuroyami that my night activities are not what he thinks.’
He has been thinking about this for a while. His son believes he is being abused and is worried for him. Suddenly he saw his son with a girl his age. “Kuroyami. Who is she?” He explained a little.
“This is Raynare. She has a sacred gear and stays at the orphanage.”
When Baraqiel heard about the orphanage he felt a little sad. Many Fallen wanted to just have normal lives, but their families were hunted down by exorcists. it ended in many orphans.
“Well, Azazel asked if she could stay with us.” He looked at the girl who reminded him of Akeno.
“I will talk to Shuri. Knowing her I don’t see why she would refuse.”
Raynare felt it was too nice to take her in and was going to refuse.
“I can’t. I will be a bother.” Baraqiel shook his head.
“You won’t be a bother. Besides, my son now has a friend. Have you seen his eyes?” She nodded.
“Well, you know what he is like. Be his friend won’t you?” She nodded. “Ok,” Baraqiel asked many questions, but they kept it secret who her grandfather was.
