After Raynare started to live with them it made the house pretty happy. She was a nice girl and it seemed his mother was thinking of how she would look in the future. Anyway, his days were mostly spent at Grigori training with Raynare. While Akeno was not really interested in power like them so she stayed at home with Shuri. He was kind of disappointed she didn’t go with them more, but it was her choice.
Two weeks had passed since Raynare moved in and she spent it with him at Grigori training. They had noticed that Azazel hadn’t been here for a few days and it was weird. He was usually around trying to make them improve as much as possible. Kurayami looked over to Raynare.
“So Raynare. Any clue about where Azazel is?”
She shrugged. “Nothing.. Not even Shemhazai knew where he was and he usually keeps tabs on Azazel.” Speak of the devil and he shall appear. In this case the Fallen Angel. He was back and entered the training room. He looked at the two of them and smiled.
“I am back. Did you miss me?” Kurayami launched a burning spear of light that Azazel dodged. He looked away. “Who would miss you? ” Azazel held his chest like he was hurt. “After all, I have done for you. I am hurt. I thought I was an uncle to you.”
Raynare raised her hand to get his attention. ‘Where were you? We were worried?” Suddenly Kurayami bonked her on the head. She held her head with tears pooling in her eyes. He coughed and denied it. “She missed you. I only felt it was quiet to have you gone.” Azazel grinned.
“Oh just admit it. You missed me. Anyway, The reason I was gone was him.”
He pointed behind him where a small kid about their age was. He had white hair and looked a little lifeless. Kurayami looked from him to Azazel while frowning. “You kidnap him or something?” Azazel shook his head. “No. He needed help so I took him in. Vali, introduce yourself.” Vali walked closer. “Names Vali. White Dragon Emperor.”
Kurayami felt his sacred gear want to burn into cinders and looked at Vali. “You’re a devil right??” Vali nodded. “How did you know?” Kurayami explained. “I own Incinerate Anthem. It wants me to burn you to the cinders.” Vali looked at Raynare who hid behind Kuryami.
“I am Raynare. I have Blaze Black Flames, a Vritra sacred gear.” Vali nodded before leaving. Kurayami looked at Azazel who looked a little troubled. “Where did he come from?” Azazel looked back. “His name is Vali Lucifer. A descendant of the original Lucifer.”
Kurayami’s eyebrows were raised. “So he is like me. I have a Longinus, but my father is a Cadre.” Azazel nodded. “You are right. He is the great-grandson of the original Lucifer, but he is like you, having immense potential. Raynare thought if she should say who her grandfather was. Also, she wanted to know more about him.
“Hey, Azazel. What do you know about Azrael?” When he heard that name Azazel remembered that guy. The angel of death himself was one of the strongest angels in heaven, but he fell around the great war for reasons no one knows and then he joined Grigori. “He was crazy strong, but he was not a monster as he kept to himself even after falling. I only met him once and he was a joker. Why?”
Azazel thought about the rumors of his wear about as he vanished after the Great War. “It is said he is in Cocytus or Tartarus, but those are just myths. He is alive for sure, but we have no clue where. Why?” Raynare decided to say it.
“He is my grandfather.” Azazel looked wide-eyed.
“Did you inherit his power? He could use death magic and it was terrifying.”
She nodded. “I am afraid to use it. Only Kurayami knows as I told him.” Azazel decided to ask. “How did your parents die?” She looked scared, but it was time to come clean. “I was 4 years old, so I don’t remember. However, it had something to do with my power and my flames.” Azazel knew that Viritra’s flames were some of the strongest around.
Combine that with Azrael’s power then what would be the effect he nodded.
“I will give you the other two sacred gears and you and Kurayami will have even direct training from me. How much luck did I have to have? I have three monster kids. Someone pinch me.” From Kurayami’s arm came his sword which tried to stab Azazel that he dogged it easily.
“What did I say to get her mad?” Kurayami looked at him. “You called us monsters and she took offense to that.” Azazel apologized. “I meant it in a good way. As in so talented.” The sword came back to Kurayami’s arm and Raynare looked at that with interest.
“Can I get one too?” Azazel was going to say yes, but he first had to know what would be the best weapon for her. “Come to a bigger training room. We need to see what would be the best weapon for you. This type will stay with you for life.” Both kids followed him to a training room with many weapons. Azazel pointed at the weapon racks.
“Even if you have never used one just try them and we will see what you have the most talent.” She got a sword first and swung it around the dummies with the basics of an armature. Azazel knew the sword was not the best for her. “Try another.”
She tried the hammer, flail, spear, whip, club, ax until she got the scythe they knew she found. She could move like she had one in her hand since she was born. Azazel looked like he was not surprised. “Old man Azreal was an expert scythe wielder, so it must run in the family.” She was sad and shook her head.
“Dad was not talented at all. He said that he was weak compared to grandpa.”
Azazel was a little surprised. Usually the more direct the relationship the better, but it seems the talent skipped a generation in her case. “Well in any case we are going to give you the other Viritra sacred gears. Are you ready?” She looked nervous. “Will it hurt?” Azazel shook his head. “You might feel a little overwhelmed as they all have parts of Viritra’s soul, but you will not feel a thing.” She looked at Kurayami and nodded.
“Only if Kurayami is with me.” Azazel grinned and teased Kurayami. “Hey, kid. You’re gonna put a ring on her.” Raynare was obviously a child and tilted her head. “Ring? Do you have one?” Kurayami shook his head.
“No, I don’t. Azazel means if we are going to get married.”
She looked a little surprised, but it didn’t seem too bad.
“I won’t mind marrying you. I bet no one else will.” He nearly coughed out blood.
“What do you mean no one else will?” She looked at him and pointed at his eyes.
“You look creepy and mean. I know you so, I guess I will be your wife.”
He shook his head. “You are a brat. Why would I marry you?” She smiled. “Because I am the only girl you know.” He sighed, but couldn’t deny it. Azazel looked at that with a big smile. “Hey, Raynare. Make sure your future husband does not leave you.” She gave a thumbs up. “He won’t.” He did really care, so whatever. Let’s see where things take him.
He was not in love with her and was a virgin in both lives. He was a killer and never thought of women much, so he ignored a love life. Plus who would date a mass murderer. This life is giving him a chance to feel love, so he can try. “I guess we will see where it goes.” Azazel looked at that with a weird look.
“Did you two just get engaged just like that?” They both looked each other in the eyes and shrugged. “I guess, but it’s not official.” Raynare looked at him with squinted eyes. “Too late. Take responsibility for getting my hopes up.” Azazel broke out laughing. “Careful kid. A heartbroken girl is dangerous anyway, let’s go.”
They both followed him to his lab where they were going to give her the other sacred gears. When they got there the sacred gears were stored in two black lanterns as they were not physical. “Hold these.” She held both lanterns and he pushed two buttons on them.
The two black burning willow wisps entered her chest and made her pass out. She was caught by Kurayami who got worried for her, but he heard her snoring.
“She will be fine. It’s just a side effect of the soul of Viritra fusing together. She will wake up in a few hours.”
He laid her on a couch and looked over her. “Which were those?” “Delete Field and Shadow Prison. We will look for the others and give them to her. You already know how it works right?” He nodded. “I could care less how it is done. I rather she be stronger.” Azazel smiled and ruffled his hair. “Look at that. Already caring for her like a husband.”
He slapped his hand away. “No. I am her friend and if she wants me to marry her in the future I will do it.” Azazel smiled. “As for Akeno, she does not really desire power like you and Raynare. Anyway, you two are the next generation. I wonder what kind of kid you two will have.” Kurayami rolled his eyes.
“You know the birth rate of Fallen. I bet if we do get together we would be 30 to 40 when it happens.” Azazel shrugged. “Well, you got a new rival here. A fallen angel hybrid and a devil hybrid with Longinus. Don’t fail your dad you hear.”
Azazel left soon after and Kuroyami stuck around waiting for Raynare to wake up. She was snoring loudly and seemed really peaceful. ‘Kids? Me? I would be a terrible dad.’ Rebellion appeared on his lap. She said he was exaggerating. He couldn’t be a bad dad.
He held his weapon and looked right at it. “You are connected to me. You can see my past lifes memories right?” The sword said it could, but it didn’t care. He had good parents and he could learn from them. “Maybe you’re right, but it will be a long time in the future.” The sword agreed. “Well let’s leave that for another day.”
He just stared at Raynare for nearly 4 hours until she woke up. Dull yes, but something about it made it worth it. When she woke up she stretched and yawned. She felt a gaze on her and moved her eyes. She woke up right to Kurayami’s hollow fish eyes.
She would have freaked out if she hadn’t been around him for two weeks. “Hey. Stop doing that. Smile.” He tried to smile, but it came out crappy. “You really can’t smile on command. You only smile when you don’t notice.” She got up and felt great.
“What did you see?” She thought about it. “I had a dream where I saw black and purple scales, surrounded by flames. I don’t think it is enough to wake up Viritra, but maybe in the future he will.” He nodded. “Maybe, but you have great potential without him anyway.”
Suddenly her stomach rumbled. “I am hungry.” He nodded. “I know. Let’s eat spicy tofu.”(Get the reference.) She was curious as she never had it. “Is it good?” He nodded. “Let’s go.” When they went to get something to eat and got some she looked at it like it was the spawn of Satan.
It was bright red and looked so spicy, but he got a spoon and just began to eat. . She watched as he just ate it spoonful after spoonful like it was nothing. However, she saw he was sweating and his face was rosy red. She sniffed it and felt her nose just burned.
“How can you eat this?” He looked at her and pointed at the rice. “Eat it with rice. It lowers the spice.” He kept eating and she did as he said. When she tried a little she felt like crying. “IT BURNS.” She ran away in tears while he stayed back. “More for me.” He took her food and began to take his time. She came back in 3 minutes with a cup of ice cream.
She looked at him like he was evil for tricking her. “Hey. Happy that you tricked me?” He looked at her while eating. “I didn’t trick you. It’s not that spicy.” She looked at him while he was steaming. “Yeah. Not spicy.” After he was done she just ate her ice cream while pouting. They left and walked around while she tried to get her mouth to stop burning.
