Chapter 38 - Hospital!

CHAPTER 38

“She left with my friend,” Jay informed her.

“Why?”

Jay and Sky were left speechless by her question. What did she mean, why? Obviously he took her somewhere safe and better than where they were now.

“To keep her safe obviously or did you want her to remain and be engulfed by those little sharks?” Sky asked, shocking both of them with his question and remark.

Jay was tempted to say something again about his friend’s tone of voice but then he swallowed his words and let Sky do the talking.

Besides, even if he wanted to say anything, they did not know exactly where Xander was. That overgrown man could be anywhere at this point in time!

“And how can I be sure that he is not the one who is going to eat her up,” Macy stated, crossing her arms in front of her chest and looking at both of them.

They couldn’t blame her, Macy just got harassed and that alone was enough for her to keep her guard up around any guy present in this club right now. Unfortunately, they were not any exception.

They felt she was being careful. What they did not know was that Jade up till that moment, never told Macy about her encounter with Xander and was definitely not aware of his surprise kiss.

“I understand you are being careful and all, but trust me,” Jay had not finished speaking when Macy attacked his words.

“Trust you? I don’t even know you.”

“I know, she is in safe hands.”

“Safe hands, where?”

At the same time, Sky’s phone started ringing, disturbing the already tense atmosphere and giving everyone a breather.

“Hello, yeah. Where are you?”

Macy let out an exasperated sigh as she turned her head to the side to avoid Jay’s flirtatious gaze.

‘Why do they look oddly familiar, these two? I think I may have seen them before.’ Macy thought as she waited for Sky to end his call.

“Okay, we will be there in a short while.”

“Be here in five,” Xander corrected while dishing out his order.

“As you wish.” Sky replied and dropped his phone in his pocket then shifted his gaze from Jay to Macy. “Hey, your friend is okay.”

“Where is she? I would be the judge of that.”

“In the hospital.”

“What!” Macy exclaimed, forgetting she was outside and that her yell would attract onlookers. “How come, why? What happened? I thought you said he rescued her so why did she end up in a hospital? Where is she?”

“Relax, when we get there, you can lay all your complains if you meet her in a not so good condition, okay?” Jay arched his eyebrows at her while both hands were in his pocket as he waited for her to respond.

Macy nodded her head at him and replied, “Okay.” Then she looked over to where Sky was standing as though she was looking for assurance.

Sky gave her a tight-lipped smile before averting his gaze from her. “Drive.”

“Where?”

“Moon’s Heaven Hospital.”

“Okay. Are you coming?” Jay asked when he noticed both he and Sky had moved and Macy still stayed there rooted to the ground.

She blinked twice then looked over at Jay before nodding again and moved to where they were.

Sky opened the back seat for her to sit while Jay entered the driver’s seat with so much glee in his eyes like someone going on a killing spree.

At exactly five minutes, they arrived in front of Moon’s Heaven Hospital and made their way up to the room Xander told them Jade would be in.

In no time they were already at the door to the ward and waited for Macy to go in while they lurked around.

Little did she know that in actual fact, they decided to stay outside to look for Xander.

Soon Jay got a call from Xander, asking them to come downstairs and they left without a word to Macy and Jade.

***

Immediately Macy got to the ward, she was shocked stupid to see her friend lying down on the bed with a drip attached to her hand.

“Oh, Jade.” Quietly she went to her side to look at her friend and at the same time, Jade opened her eyes.

“Macy?”

“Yes, Jade. It is me”

“Oh, Macy!” Jade exclaimed weakly as the effects of the drug had not yet warned off and she still looked drowsy.

“I am sorry for leaving you.”

“It is okay. I know it wasn’t your fault.”

“Don’t be like that. It hurts me that you had to even go through that in the first place.”

“Go through what? I was only drugged and then he came and threw away the glass of wine.”

“By the way, who is this guy everyone keeps talking about?”
