Noah did not have to wait long for the opportunity to arise. Even though the Boss still managed to use his ability to dodge the most dangerous abilities, the humans realized that he needed to work hard for it. While before, the Boss only had to think to turn invisible, now, tired and injured, he needed to concentrate to achieve invisibility, which made it much easier for the humans to know when he would use the skill or not.
It didn’t take long for the group to leave the monster’s body completely wounded, be it some arrows still stuck in his body or some big sword cuts that left a big tear in the monster’s skin, not to mention the various injuries caused by the magicians.
In the meantime, the Boss was not the only concern of the group. The little assassins were still constantly coming to attack anyone who was unprepared, but to the frustration of the little monsters, Noah was always there to prevent that from happening. Even though he sometimes failed to make it in time and the assassins sometimes managed to leave a few cuts on whoever they were attacking, Noah always arrived in time to at least make sure the monsters didn’t kill any humans.
This, in addition to yielding some extra exp points for him, also became a small source of energy for Noah’s abilities. Burning these corpses made it possible for Noah now to at least be able to use the teleportation ability a few times, which he only did if someone was at great risk of death and Noah was unable to get there in time.
This whole situation made Noah notice something: the [Hell Flames] ability turned out to be the only source he currently had of regenerating energy. Even though the [Hell Tunneling] ability was a very strong ability, which probably multiplied Noah’s strength and his combat potential a few times, unfortunately that ability only consumed his energy. If he had no monsters to burn and use as fuel, he would really run the risk of running out of energy and leave himself unprotected. ‘In the end, the [Hell Flames] skill is still my cornerstone.’ Noah thought.
Realizing that the Boss was panting and walked with weak steps as he moved to dodge the attacks, Noah decided to end the battle now. Using [Hell Tunneling] again, Noah felt as if for a fraction of a second he was embraced by something extremely comfortable before appearing beside the Boss.
According to the skill’s description, in that split second he probably went to hell and came back. ‘Perhaps it is because of my being Lucifer’s Descendant that I feel hell as comfortable?’ Noah created a hypothesis.
Leaving that thought aside, with his right hand holding the dagger he stole from the Boss, Noah took advantage of the fact that the monster was no longer as attentive as at the beginning of the battle and had not yet noticed him appearing nearby. Despite the brilliant explosion of flames that happened when he appeared, Noah managed to make a big cut on the monster’s belly that continued to open across a large part of his back. Without giving the monster a chance to react, Noah waved his other hand and a large amount of flames engulfed the Boss, penetrating through the cut that Noah made, making the boss finally scream horrendously in pain as he fell to the ground.
Even before when the monster’s skin was resistant and intact, for him these flames still had hurt a lot. Now that his skin was already full of cuts and the flame could enter directly into the Boss’s flesh and muscles, he could no longer bear the great amount of pain and fell to the ground writhing.
Unfortunately for the monster, the pain was so great that he was unable to concentrate enough to use his own ability, which only caused the humans to take advantage of him lying on the floor and end his life.
When the Boss finally stopped breathing, Noah’s flames still continued to burn the monster until all that remained were ashes. The only thing that Noah controlled the flames to keep them from burning was the strange and powerful wooden bow, as he believed it was also a blessed weapon.
“Phew… good personal work. Unfortunately we still had some deaths. It was hard to imagine that a boss in a Rank E Fortress would have so many blessed weapons,” Jasper said to the group as he sat on the grass to rest.
Hearing what Jasper said, the Blesseds’ gaze immediately shifted to the three blessed weapons the Boss had with looks of desire on their faces. Even for the mages who could not use either type of weapon, they still had the greed of wanting the weapons to at least sell. But when they looked at Noah and saw that he had no intention of separating himself from the dagger that he took from the Boss, and after they remembered how many times their lives was saved by this Blessed young man, the men and women stopped looking at Noah’s dagger and just coveted the other blessed dagger and bow.
Jasper, who was resting, looked at Noah and realized how wrong they were before they had invaded the Fortress. Because of Abigail’s comment, the group treated Noah as being weak, someone who just came to the Rank E Fortress to do nothing and make a lot more money without difficulty by just depending on the group, but what happened was exactly the opposite.
He was sure that Noah didn’t spend time alone in the Fortress just hiding after seeing how strong he truly was. If it wasn’t enough for him to be agile and have good control of the knife, he still had that strange flame that made the monsters cry out in pain and despair as if they were being mutilated. And if that weren’t enough, he also had that strange teleportation ability that made him move freely on the battlefield, just like a snake in a lake, just harvesting the lives of countless weaker beings with speed and absurd agility.
Jasper has heard of Blessed with more than one ability bestowed by a god, but this was somewhat rare since generally the gods only granted a person a single skill. But it was not entirely unheard of; over the years after being Blessed, Jasper had already met with some Blessed who had two abilities granted by a god during their Blessing, even once meeting a Blessed One who had a Rank B Blessing that gave her three skills, not to mention the variations that she had developed through practice.
Jasper knew he was strong himself. He had a Rank C Blessing and his strength was already at the top of Rank E, almost reaching Rank D, but when compared to Noah, even using his Blessing to the maximum, almost doubling his speed, Jasper had no confidence in being able to beat Noah in a head-to-head fight. He knew that if he was not prepared and using his own Blessing on himself, then he would have no chance to survive at all, since he probably would not be able to react in time if Noah teleported to his side.
Seeing the strength he had at apparently 20 years old, Jasper began to speculate that Noah had a Blessing at least Rank C, but with that combination of skills, maybe when he reached the top of Rank C, his battle potential would be greater than some Blessed Rank B.
Seeing how talented Noah was, Jasper came to a decision. Upon rising from the floor, Jasper went towards Noah to discuss something with him.
