“Your Uncle Eric finally seems a little satisfied with me,” Shui Xian had already noticed Uncle Eric’s attitude toward him. Although he was respectful to him yesterday, he didn’t seem to really like him.
Shui Xian believed that most people in this estate did not think that he was worthy of their princess whom they watched growing up. By now, from the attitude of the servants in this place, he understood what kind of a status Raelle really had in their hearts. Despite the fact that she didn’t talk to them much or didn’t like their disturbances, they all had great respect for her in their hearts.
And from this, one could understand that Raelle’s reputation of being cold-hearted was not trustworthy. If she was so cold-hearted, how would she be liked by everyone here? He had felt plenty of scrutinizing gazes falling on his since yesterday as if everyone was evaluating him.
But once these people saw Raelle’s closeness with him, they would smile kindly and stop paying attention. It was actually a surprising situation even for Shui Xian who did not expect his wife to have so many protectors in the form of house help too.
He really wanted to find the person who always said that Raelle wasn’t a good person.
“Don’t worry, Uncle Eric is a reasonable person,” replied Raelle. Even if she wasn’t as keen about others’ emotions before, her understanding of some emotions was quite good now. Just like she could see Uncle Eric’s concern for her clearly now and even didn’t dislike it at all.
“I also think he is a reasonable person,” If he wasn’t, he wouldn’t have been so kind to him since they met despite not really finding him pleasing to his eyes.
“Yue, eat some more,” said Mu Chenyan when she noticed how her best friend wasn’t eating much. “Are you feeling sick again? Or is the food not to your taste?”
Yue Yue weakly lifted her head and shook her at Mu Chenyan but paused when she felt dizzier with this action. “If I remember correctly,” started Hyson. “Mum used to say that seeing my face always makes her want to eat an extra bowl. Now, she is barely lifting her chopsticks even when her son is sitting right in front of her. What happened? Don’t worry about your Mr. Zhai, he’ll come with Uncle Xiang a day before the wedding.”
Yue Yue glared at her son who shrugged. Who asked his mother to ignore him? Couldn’t he even say anything? She used to send him so many caring messages but since she got together with that big idiot Zhai Kuijun, she had forgotten all about her son. Hyson felt like she might even care more about little idiot Zhai Yanjun even more than him these days.
He was a poor little cabbage abandoned by everyone.
He took a bit of egg pancake with force. Sёarᴄh the Novёlƒire.n(e)t website on Google to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.
Even his best friend didn’t care about him. He took another forceful bite.
“Hyson, hurry up!”
Hyson looked at Raelle and asked, “What now? I can’t even eat in peace anymore?”
“Don’t you want to go for a horse ride? Don’t wanna see your princess?”
Hyson perked up instantly and started eating hurriedly but paused. “Mum, are you really okay?” He wasn’t really an unfilial son who didn’t care about his mother at all. He went to her side to check her temperature and frowned, “Your temperature seems normal. What exactly is wrong with you? Did you get air sick again? But how is that possible? It has been such a long time since you got air sick.”
Yue Yue waved her hand at him weakly and leaned her body against him. Hyson naturally supported her body but then bent down to pick her up, “Let’s take you back to rest first. Uncle Eric, call a doctor.”
“There is no need for that,” said Mu Chenyan. “Let Zhao see what is wrong with her. He also helped her recover when she was sick before coming here. So, he is familiar with her condition.”
Xia Zhao didn’t even take the pulse before saying, “Yue Yue is experiencing acclimatization. Her previous illness isn’t acting up now. You take her to the room. I’ll find something for her to take which will make her feel better.”
“Uncle, my mom is fine, right?” Hyson didn’t even know that his mother was sick in the past few days. This gave rise to a nameless anger in his heart but he had to suppress it in front of everyone for now.
“Weren’t you very dissatisfied with your mother just now,” joked Xia Zhao with him as he found it quite amusing to see the worry etched between Hyson’s brows. This careless guy always found reasons to throw a jab of words at his own mother but he still loved her the most too. “What can I do? I only have such a precious mother. I can only complain occasionally but can’t really abandone her, right? She can forget her son but the son can’t forget her.”
Yue Yue hit his head but she was feeling too uncomfortable to have any energy. It felt more like a pat on the head to Hyson and it made him frown again. He’d rather she start jumping and calling him annoying than being so weak in his arms.
He took her back to the bedroom and helped her lie down. He pulled the blanket for her and looked seriously at her face which was turning pale at a fast pace. He squatted down beside her bed and held her hand, “Why do you feel so light? Haven’t you been eating well these days?”
Yue Yue couldn’t lift her hands to make any hand signs so she mouthed at him, ‘I am eating well. Don’t worry about me.’
“If you don’t want me to worry then don’t look like this. How am I supposed to not worry about you when you are sick? And why do you still keep it to yourself? You have been sick but I knew nothing. Now, you must have started feeling uncomfortable the moment you landed here but you continued to endure until now. If Yanyan hadn’t noticed would you even tell anyone? What do you even think of me? Am I such an irresponsible son in your eyes that you can’t even depend on me?”
Yue Yue was startled when she noticed the seriousness in his eyes. She also realized that he was mad about her hiding her illness from him. But it was just a minor fever what was there to tell him when he was rushing to finish his work? The corners of her eyes reddened as she felt like crying whether it was because of the uncomfortable feeling or because of seeing her son like this, maybe even she didn’t know for now. ‘It’s not like that,’ she tried to touch his face but Hyson turned his head away, avoiding her hand.
“Mom, I might be careless and look really unreliable but you can’t be so distrustful of my character. If you are in pain, tell me about it. What am I to do if you don’t say anything? Just because you couldn’t speak, I learned sign language. Thinking that your hands might get tired, I learned lip reading too. When all failed, I even learned to read your eyes. And yet, you still have a way to hide things from me.”
Yue Yue sighed and tried to sit up.
“Just keep lying down. Don’t you dare get up.”
Yue Yue really didn’t move as she really couldn’t face her son like this. When this guy really got serious, she had to always bow her head in front of him. But it also proved that he grew up now. ‘Silly, I know I have you. How do you think I got here?’ Hyson wanted to avoid looking at her so that he couldn’t understand what she was saying but she held his face and made him look at her. ‘I know I can always depend on you. I have such a capable son. How can I not have any trust in you? I wasn’t feeling that uncomfortable when we came and I thought I’d just bear with it and it’ll pass. Why would I endure? Do I have a reason to do so?’ She pressed on the creases between his brows and went on, ‘Don’t frown. It doesn’t suit you. I like to see my son smiling.’
“Just because you like seeing me smile, I have been smiling like a fool all my life,” he retorted.
‘Are you tired?’
Hyson shook his head, “No. But I really don’t like seeing you in pain. It makes me feel like I am not a good son.”
‘How is that possible? When did you become so unconfident in yourself? You are the best son in the world.’
Hyson rubbed his face against her hand and said, “Then next time, don’t hide even the minor headache from me. If I learned it from others, I’m gonna be mad.”
