“Where did you go?” asked Shui Xian.
“I just saw my parents whispering in the corner, I went to remind them that lunch is served but ended up eavesdropping on their conversation.”
“And?”
“And then I couldn’t stop myself from saying a thing or two to them,” replied Raelle.
“What did you say to them?”
“Let’s talk about it later,” said Raelle as she pointed at everyone around. “It’s not like I won’t tell you anything. I’ll share everything with you.”
Shui Xian chuckled softly and nodded his head. He pulled the chair for Raelle and only sat down once she did. After that, he wiped the cutlery once again with a napkin before passing it to her.
Raelle looked at Shui Xian’s movements intently. Even though he was just following the same routine as he did whenever they ate together, she still couldn’t look away. She felt a burning gaze settle on her and turned her head to meet Hyson’s smiling eyes.
“Is something funny?” she asked.
Hyson shook his head, “Not at all.”
“Then what are you smiling about?”
“I was born with a smiling face unlike you.”
“Just talk about yourself. Why drag me in?” retorted Raelle.
Hyson rolled his eyes at her and said, “Eat. Or are you waiting for Xian Ge to feed you too? Not like he won’t like doing that.”
Raelle softly hummed at her and started eating her meal. She was ravenous and ended up eating a little more than usual too. After doing so, she looked at the bulge on her stomach and her eyes widened. She looked around to see if anyone noticed before sitting even straighter than before. She even held her breath to suck in her tummy.
Who knew this day would come for her too?
A lot of weird days were here for her. Recently, she heard someone say that marriage is like the rebirth of a woman. It’s like you are living a different life with the memories of the previous one. This is why a woman should always choose her husband wisely and carefully as it could change the direction of her new life.
Raelle knew that she had made the right choice with Shui Xian because she was truly reborn after he came into her life. It wasn’t like she didn’t like this change but at some points, she’d miss her previous life too.
“Wanna go for a walk?” suggested Shui Xian.
Raelle wondered if he noticed her bulging belly and that’s why suggested going for a walk but his face gave nothing away. She stopped speculating and dropped the thought altogether. It didn’t matter even if he saw it. He was her husband and he was allowed to see all of her.
“Okay,” she agreed but frowned when Hyson tagged along. “What do you want now? Do you understand that you are being annoying right now?”
Hyson shrugged as he hugged her arm and said, “I have been annoying all my life but it’s just that you have become more vocal about it after your marriage. Bear with me for a few hours. We are both gonna be on our way later and we never know when we’ll see each other again.”
“What do you mean by that? We’d obviously meet after my honeymoon.”
“We can’t be too sure about that.”
“What? Are you hoping that I die out there?”
Hyson punched her shoulder making her hiss. She gaped at him in disbelief and Hyson didn’t even appreciate such a vivid expression on her face right now as he looked really mad. “Can’t you say something nice? One should never have such thoughts before a journey. It’s not considered good.” seaʀᴄh thё novёlF~ire.net website on Google to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.
Raelle rubbed her shoulder as she asked, “When did you become superstitious?”
“When you care about someone, you are even willing to believe in superstitions. Don’t say that again. I might hate you on certain days but that doesn’t mean I want you gone.” Hyson rubbed his forehead feeling frustrated and added, “And for your information, I wanted to tell you that I might be touring by the time you come back from your honeymoon. So, because of my schedule, I won’t be seeing you anytime soon. I didn’t mean anything else.”
“Oh,” responded Raelle and looked at Shui Xian who also was looking at her with displeasure clearly visible in his eyes. Raelle could only mentally sigh that she had forgotten about who was beside her when she said those words. These two won’t let this matter go easily. “I was just joking.”
“Your jokes are never funny,” reminded Hyson. “Why bother then? And I hate your jokes.”
“Yes, they aren’t funny at all,” agreed Shui Xian with those words wholeheartedly.
“Okay, I was wrong. I won’t do it again. Are we okay now?”
Hyson and Shui Xian reluctantly dropped the topic after she promised not to do it again for fifteen minutes. Raelle felt like those were the most difficult and tiring fifteen minutes of her life.
“What did you say to your parents?” asked Hyson as he poked through the yogurt drink in his hand and took a sip. “They had been looking at you strangely during the lunch.”
“Really? I didn’t notice,” replied Raelle as she also took the yogurt drink that Shui Xian passed to her. “And what can I possibly say to them? There isn’t much to talk about between us actually. I just told them both to look forward. I asked them to live their own lives now.”
“And why would you do that?”
“Maybe it’s because I feel happy inside so I want everyone around me to be happy too.”
“Really?” questioned Hyson in surprise. “How come then you are always trying to make me unhappy?”
“You are the exception of my life,” said Raelle.
“Can you both say something you actually mean?” Shui Xian gave them both a strange look. “There is no one in this family who cares about each other more than you two. But you both seemed to love saying the opposite of what you mean. It’s really exhausting to just even sit between the two of you.” He sighed tiredly and then caressed Raelle’s head saying, “However, I have to say that my dear wife, you did well. Wanting your parents to be happy is a good thought. We are in the new chapter of our lives so we should forgive and forget the ones that were part of the last chapter.”
Hyson squinted his eyes at Shui Xian suspiciously, “Why do I feel like your words are directed at me?”
“They are,” answered Shui Xian. He had no problem accepting that he said those words purposely. “You should also forgive and forget to move on.” Stay tuned to mvl
“Forgiveness is not possible though.”
“Then forget it at least,” suggested Shui Xian. “Also, don’t let your anger or hate distance you from those who genuinely care about you. Either it’s Uncle Kuijun or Yanjun, they both love you. What Yanjun’s mother did is unforgivable but that really has nothing to do with Uncle Kuijun or Yanjun.”
Hyson agreed with everything he said. “I just can’t let it go.”
“You want revenge with your own hands.”
Hyson lowered his head, “I don’t know.”
“Isn’t it enough that someone has already made that woman’s life a living hell these days?” asked Raelle. “Do you think just anyone can bully people from our family? You have no idea what the Yue family has been going through these days. Last time, that woman insulted Yue Yue and then Yue Yue’s mother came to our house and even tried to slap her. But she underestimated our family. Just because she gave birth to Yue Yue, does she have the right to touch our Yue Yue? How can I let that happen?”
“Isn’t that the problem that you all are too capable?” retorted Hyson unhappily. “I can’t even show off a little or do something for my mother. You are making me feel useless by doing everything.”
“Isn’t it because I don’t want you to touch those things? You are our cleanest baby. We would like to keep you that way.”
Hyson barfed when he heard that disgusted Raelle with that action. He was quite satisfied seeing that look of disgust on her face.
“Stop living for your mother, Hyson.”
“Then what else should I do?”
“I told you to look for your own purpose.”
“Is it that easy to find purpose in your life? Do you have a purpose? Before you married Xian Ge, you were as confused with your own life as I am right now.”
“Do you enjoy your work?” asked Shui Xian.
“Well…” Hyson thought about this question deeply and nodded his head. “I guess I am for now.”
“Then keep working. Once you get bored of it, we’ll find something else to do. You know which people should be lost in life?”
“Which?”
“The ones who don’t have someone to show them the way out,” replied Shui Xian. “You, on the other hand, are one of the luckiest people around as you have not only people who are willing to become your lighthouse but you also have people who are willing to hold your hand and walk out of the storm with you.”
