?”So tell me, girl, who are you? You are not Yue Xiuying because she is inside this bio pod, living in stasis for the last eight months,” Zareth said, a hideous smile stretching across his face.
Alex was taken aback by seeing the unconscious lady, but before he could think that it was a twin of Yue, he was forced to believe otherwise, seeing the reaction of the Oldman Kang.
“You bastard, what have you done to her,” Oldman Kang roared out but was instantly pinned to the floor by the old lady.
“She is just one of many talented specimens captured by Sir Amutaen for me to perfect my craft of Gene Splicing, and I have to say she has been very helpful to this point,” Zareth said, facing the old man as he tapped the glass pod.
“Now, back to my question.”
“Who are you, and how can you perfectly mimic Yue’s aura, her family’s signature sword style, yet you certainly do not belong to the race of void Imitators or any other race I am familiar with,”
“I am asking just out of curiosity, but if you are not comfortable telling me, then it is also fine since I can look through your genome to find out your secrets,” Zareth said, trying to grasp her face, but the cold beauty slapped away his hand.
Alex was standing there frozen and not out of choice, as his blood had been frozen solid, making him incapable of moving an inch, and while he could easily break free, he could suffer the same fate in the very next moment unless he could stop the vampire from doing it.
In this short span, Alex also discovered that Zareth’s body was just a puppet and the real him was hidden someplace unknown, so even if they somehow dealt with the two monsters standing guard, the chances of finding him in time were slim to none.
The chances of acquiring the upgraded technique were growing slimmer by the moment, but having considered such a scenario, Alex was ready to strike a bargain with the apothecary to get it.
However, considering that the Immortal Phenix Sect was backing him because of the technique, the chances of him sharing it for any price were very slim but still worth a try.
However, considering the apothecary’s current stance of capturing and experimenting upon Yue for her abilities, the price he will offer has to be too great for them not to refuse his offer.
“I will give you a chance to save your and the lives of everyone present in this lab,”
“Give us the upgraded technique, and let us leave with this girl and promise never to bother us or the Starfall sect, or you will suffer the same fate,”
“I, —— —–, with the worldly law as my witness, take the oath to prove that any claims I have made in the last two minutes are true,” Yue said with a calm look, with the law reacting to her words. Once the minor law disturbance settled, she manifested a sparkling energy atop her palm to prove she was telling the truth.
In an instant, the room turned a few degrees colder as every head jerked toward the Yue, with everyone waiting for the law to react and punish her, but to their dismay, she stood perfectly fine, proving that her wild claims were not mere lies.
The apothecary and the two elders stood silent, their eyes wide open at the impossibility of the situation, their minds racing to understand the source of her confidence.
“Girl, your law oath has taken effect only because you believe that whoever will come to save you is strong enough to kill me and Liarda, which could be proven wrong,”
“But that aside, do you think the same applies to the Immortal Phenix Sect,” The vampire said. However, the palpable tension on the faces of the two elders made it clear they took the threat far more seriously than they showed.
Alex was about to make a proposal to get out of this mess when Yue, or whoever she was, made the blatant threat and backed it with a law oath, leaving him wondering whether he should go with it or not, and after some consideration, he decided to do it.
‘I have always been good with deals, so let’s make another one,’ Alex thought as he used darkness to cleanse his body of the thin stream of foreign mana.
“Let’s all peaceful down,”
“I am sure you gain little from us, as you can not kill me since I am an adventurer. You gain nothing from killing old Kang, and I am sure now, with her unknown identity, you do not wish to kill her unless you want an unknown enemy at a time when you are preparing to start a war,”
“So I propose that you let us leave by fulfilling her demands, and in return, not only will you not have to worry about an enemy, but we will also promise that only a single individual will use your technique, and I will also give you three medium-grade Realm Ruler wishes or a single-grade one,” Alex said, offering more then he wanted to but he was in no situation to be cheap.
“One is threatening us with our lives while the other is offering me cheap things for my great work,” Zareth said, chuckling.
“Sir Amutaen, I think the offer is not bad, but still, I will leave the decision to you,” Zareth said, shiting his focus to the vampire.
“I have talked with the Sect leader, and he says there is nothing to decide because giving the technique to one man is the same as giving it to the world,”
“As for her threat, Master believes we have stayed inactive from the world stage for too long for a random child to threaten us,” Amutaen said with a chilling glare.
“Girl, you will give up your secrets willingly or unwillingly, but if you cooperate, then you and the Starfall sect will get to live, and if you don’t, then both of you will suffer a fate of death,” Amutaen said, leaving no room for further negotiation.
Alex could feel that the situation had completely gotten out of hand, and the reason was simply the ability to perfectly emulate someone else, in body and Aura.
Alex had never met the real Yue, but he could tell from their adamant interest that her ability had truly intrigued the Immortal Phenix guild, and they were willing to get it even at the cost of dealing with someone with strength equivalent to Ninth Rank Ruler.
“If this is what you have decided, then you have left me with no other choice, and here I thought, I will get to live a free life for some more years,” Yue said with a sad smile before her body began to change.
In mere moments, her fair skin becomes pale, her white hair turning a darker shade of silver with a shade of dark to them, her eyes a unique mix of flowing dark and pristine white.
A person whom Alex knew very well since she was the last person he met before entering the ancestral realm.
Alex did not even need to check her status to know that it was not another fake face since he could not forget the unique aura that Zahra had once she had dealt the final blow that took out the two dark elf elders.
‘The aura is familiar, but there are no runes,’ Alex thought, as he felt the same aura that he had felt when Zahra was cloaked in ashen gray runes that had turned the two Elemental Rulers into withered husks.
Alex had ten different thoughts going through his head, but the most urgent one was to tell Zahra to stop with the spell, knowing how she was at death’s door the last time she used it, but since his body was frozen again, he was slowed down by few moments.
The few moments Alex took to regain control of his body were all it took for golden runes to cover the body of Zahra, the lady in the bio pod, the Oldman, and his own before they vanished, appearing and disappearing in a flash.
“What did you do? Those runes were oozing with the element of Life,” Amutaen said, with a startled look, appearing confused as if something was puzzling him.
“I invited your death,” Zahra said with an emotionless look.
