Mr. Tycoon's Daring Wife Novel

Chapter 44: A Hidden Weapon

Yang Feng watched Zhao Lifei give her opinion and berate the incompetent presenters for their proposal that dared to swindle the Zhao Corporation out of hundreds of millions.

Seeing her strong aura, her fierce unwavering gaze targeting powerful men that were twice her age, Yang Feng was surprised to discover another side to her. It made him realize why Zhao Moyao cherished that feisty little woman. She wasn’t afraid to speak her mind and point out their flaws.

Her eye for seeing through inconsistencies in proposals and expertly calculating the actual revenue and profit from a contract was amazing.

Where did she learn all these? Does she realize how dangerous her potential is?

People like her are rare and if word got out about her abilities, she would have companies fighting over her. Powerful men would use all kinds of nefarious means to get her to their side, or worse, permanently remove her from the hands of Zhao Moyao.

Yang Feng glowered at the wall.

She was a hidden weapon, but there was no one around to protect her.

The security around her was weak, she rarely had bodyguards, she rode on public transportation, and her condo’s security wasn’t the best. Did she not value her life?

Unless…she didn’t have to be afraid of any threats? He had seen the way she threatened Zheng Tianyi with the dagger, twirling it around her fingers like an expert.

She knows which gun models are far more superior and effective than the simple pistol Zheng Tianyi possessed.

It suddenly dawned on him that even with the comprehensive background check he had done on her, he didn’t know Zhao Lifei at all. The things he knew about her barely scratched the surface.

He didn’t find out what happened in her two years of absence.

Grabbing his phone, he sent a quick text to Chen Gaonan. Yang Feng understood the task might be too hard and something that was beyond Chen Gaonan’s abilities. If he couldn’t find out, Yang Feng knew someone else that would.

From the hallway, Yang Feng noticed she was done, leaving the room extremely quiet. It seemed it was time for him to make an entrance.

When he walked into the room, Zhao Lifei didn’t look up from the stacks of paper laid out in front of her. She was busy studying the other proposals that were given to Zhao Corporation. So when nearly everyone in the room stood up, excluding her and Zhao Moyao, she was surprised to hear the loud greeting.

“It’s an honor to see you again, CEO Yang.” One of the executives respectfully said to the man 30 years his junior.

Yang Feng was the youngest CEO in the country, and yet he held a tight grip over the business world. Many of the executives were reluctant to bow down to a man so young, but they knew when to concede. It wasn’t the brightest idea to cross a man who could destroy with them the lift of a finger.

When Zhao Lifei heard the dreaded name, she didn’t look up. Instead, she kept her head down and continued to study the papers in front of her. She crossed out one proposal after the other, a dark frown on her face.

When a few strands of hair fell over her face like a curtain, she brushed it behind her ears and swung it over her shoulders, revealing her slender neck.

The scene of a beautiful woman dressed modestly and then finally revealing a sliver of skin had turned most of the presenters’ gaze lecherous.

Yang Feng noticed it. One warning stare from him was enough to send the presenters shaking, looking anywhere besides Zhao Lifei.

‘How can she be so oblivious to the effect she had on men?’ He sighed inside his head. Walking towards her, his polished leather shoes echoed in the quiet room.

Zhao Lifei could sense him walking closer to her but she pretended to not hear anything and continued to submerge herself in paperwork.

The executives watched Yang Feng in confusion. Why was he so heavily focused on this woman?

“You’re not going to greet me?” Yang Feng mused, hovering right over her.

He stood with his hands tucked into his pockets, staring down at her. He saw the allure of her swan neck and when she continued to ignore him, he lightly touched her hair and used it to cover her neck. Once again, her hair fell over her like a heavy curtain, which blocked her view and only annoyed her further.

Zhao Lifei pressed her lips together in frustration. She raised her head.

Yang Feng became slightly happy upon seeing her do so, but his happiness was short-lived when she didn’t look at him. Instead, she looked straight at her overly amused grandfather.

“I recommend denying proposal 1, 3, and 4.” She said to him, placing down the pen and handing the papers to him. On the papers were notes written by her that pointed out all the flaws in the proposals.

Zhao Moyao nearly smiled at his granddaughter’s determination.

Does she know whose plans she just denied and who proposed the only one she accepted?

One of them happened to be from Zheng Tianyi’s company that wanted to mend their bad relationship because the Zheng Corporation heavily benefited from having a partnership with the Zhaos.

He had purposely hidden the names of the company who initiated the proposal so that she wouldn’t have any biased thoughts when it came to judging it.

His gaze trailed to the eager man waiting for her to look up and meet his stares.

Will she continue to ignore the man beside her who looked at her like a desperate puppy needy for its owner’s attention? He wondered whether the aloof Yang Feng, who was famous for never being romantically associated with anyone, knew how captivated he was with his little granddaughter.

Holding back his laughter, Zhao Moyao tried to sound serious. “What’s wrong with the other proposals?”

“I already wrote it on the paper, grandfather.” Zhao Lifei pointed out to him.

She was confused as to why he was trying to drag out the conversation. Usually, when he required her consultation services, he wouldn’t ask any other questions because it would all be answered within the notes she would hand over.

“Yes, but this old man would like you to read it to me.” Zhao Moyao chuckled, deciding to play matchmaker.

His trust in Yang Feng’s capabilities was enough to allow the man to pursue his granddaughter. Had it been any other scum, he would’ve sent out his people to warn the man to stay away from his granddaughter.

In his eyes, Zhao Lifei deserved the best of the best. It just so happens, his first choice was Yang Feng.

Curious about Yang Feng’s current state, his eyes tilted to him. Just as before, he was continuing to stare at her. As a matter of fact, his stares had never trailed away from her. Not even once.

He was amused that Zhao Lifei was pretending to be nonchalant to the obvious stare boring a hole through her head.

“Grandfather, that would cost an additional few millions to my consultation fee.” Zhao Lifei smiles, seeing right through his plans. She grabbed her purse and was prepared to stand up and leave when suddenly, a hand emerged from beside her.

It slammed onto the table, revealing a white check. “State your price.” Yang Feng somberly said, not wanting her to leave so quickly. He had just seen her and she was clearly avoiding him. He wanted to know why.

“Grandfather, there seems to be an annoying fly buzzing next to me. I apologize but I must leave in order to escape it.” Zhao Lifei didn’t even blink at the check and when she tried to walk past Yang Feng, he reached out to grab her forearm.

“Don’t touch me-“

“The proposal that you have just accepted is the one by Yang Enterprise. I believe the person whose opinion weighs heavily on the acceptance of the proposal should be present during the meeting.” Yang Feng was eager to see more of her abilities.

Zhao Lifei frowned at his words. She turned towards her grandfather. This wasn’t what they had agreed upon.

Their deal was that she reviewed the contracts and proposals before it was approved or signed. She was promised that she would never sit down in any business meetings to discuss beyond that.
