Never Judge Novel

Chapter 8 - 8

The next day Adrianna still refused to speak to her parents. Her mother for what she said and her father for not saying anything.

Although Adrianna worked at Island’s Inc. she still got the same salary as an ordinary employee. She didn’t expect her father to inherit any shares, nor did she herself expect to inherit any shares. Most would probably go to her oldest uncle, Fredrik and his children.

In the past, the Hernandez family had hoped that she would meet a man from a powerful family and marry him, to them her greatest asset was her beauty.

She had always been favored by her grandfather hoping she would marry up, but a part of Adrianna refused to do this and this was exactly why she started dating Cedric. He was a poor kid who graduated from a local public school, he was a nobody in the eyes of the Hernandez family.

She never really expected to fall in love with him at first, but the heart wants what the heart wants.

“Honey, we’re here.” Cedric announced pulling her out from her daydream.

“You know I’m not embarrassed by you, right?” Adrianna asked as she held Cedric’s hand tightly.

“I know. I’ll do better for you.” He said as he kissed her hand. “Go, have fun at work today.”

Adrianna nodded as she got out of the car.

At Mor Co. all the department heads assembled at the President’s Boardroom. They had seen Cedric Reyes around in the past and none of them had ever assumed that this simple man would end up being the president of their company. Most of them had tossed and turned that night not knowing if they had ever looked down on him or offended him in any way.

Cedric entered the room with Ian and Camilla trailing behind him. He sat at the head of the table and announced to begin the meeting.

Cedric mostly listened to the reports and gave his input on what to improve. During his stay at Mor Co., he was already taking notes on things they needed to improve as well as people he knew were cheating the company.

Many of the department directors were shocked at how much insight Cedric had into their operations as well as to the market of Mor Co. he was after all just an assistant.

The morning droned on, with Cedric giving each department things they needed to work on. The department directors were relieved that this new president hadn’t grilled or fired anyone during his first meeting. They were initially worried that most of them would be replaced with younger, fresher talents.

After the meeting ended, the directors found all of their subordinates waiting for them.News had traveled fast, that there was a new president at Mor Co. and that he was young and handsome.

The directors all refused to disclose any other information on who the new president was, but they did all agree, the new president was definitely young and had good looks.

“Camilla, do I have any meetings in the afternoon?” Cedric asked.

“The interior designer will come by this afternoon to discuss your office’s new look, which will be at 2pm. After that, the HR department’s director wanted to talk to you about some adjustments with employee policies at 4pm. At 5pm, the sales director wants to present their plans to you.” Camilla replied with his full schedule for the afternoon.

“Can you make a reservation for me at Nouveau for lunch?” Cedric asked.

“Reyes Group should have a room perpetually booked for the family there sir. I’ll check if anyone is using it today.” Camilla said as she began to dial a number on her phone.

“Get back to me on that as soon as possible.” Cedric said as Camilla could only nod in reply.

“Ian, could you get me some coffee and bring it to my office.” Ian nodded and left to do as he was told.

Cedric headed into his office and looked around. The design of the president’s office was definitely out of date. It needed a big facelift in order to represent the future of Mor Co.

“Sir, I’ve booked the room for you at Nouveau.” Camilla said as she entered. “Also sir, Marco sent these over, according to him these are from Mr. Reyes.”

“Camilla, there are many Mr. Reyes’es in my family. I’m assuming they are from my father, correct?” Cedric asked in a jesting tone.

“Yes sir. The first card is a credit card with virtually no limit. The second card contains the income from Mor Co. for the past thirteen years. The third card he said was a gift for your wife, he didn’t specify how much should be in it. The fourth card contains all the income from your properties.” Camilla explained. Marco had been very specific on what each card was when he dropped them off.

“Alright. Please ask the Marketing Department to be ready with that report I asked for by Monday.” Cedric reminded.

“Yes sir.” Camilla then turned to leave.

Cedric quickly picked up his phone and called his wife.

“Aren’t you busy at work today?” Adrianna asked as she picked up his call.

“Honey, I still owe you lunch.” Cedric said, refusing to answer her question.

“I’m free to have lunch with you today. Where will we meet?” Adrianna asked her husband.

“Meet me at your office lobby. It’s a surprise.” Cedric said.

“Fine. I’ll see you at noon.” Adrianna said, surrendering to his plan.

“Bye honey.” Cedric said as he dropped the call.
