Yang Lujia had it easy and stole one of the largest airships that the Human Emperor Palace people had brought to the Second Region. However, this wasn’t what baffled Sheng Ao, his fourth disciple.
“Master, about the array formation around the Sacred Region, I have something to ask. Why can we easily pass through it without being attacked by the four divine beasts?”
“Your master is the master of the four divine beasts,” Yang Lujia said, apathetically. “In fact, it was my father who made that array formation when he was here once.”
“What? Master’s father?” Sheng Ao was in a state of stupor.
Just thinking about how powerful his master was, he shuddered even more when he thought of his master’s father. What kind of power did his master’s father have to be able to arrange such a huge array formation? There were even divine beasts inside!
‘What the fuck is going on again? I thought I already saw the depths of master. It seems like I still have a lot to learn about the world. For my senior brothers and senior sister, I wonder how they are faring now without a master by their side. It must be difficult.’
“We’re now going to the palace,” Yang Lujia. “Prepare yourself for what is about to come. Anyway, it’s just some spatial and time storms. I’ve also killed void beasts with your senior brothers before and even had their meat bubbling with heat in our mouths. They’re actually quite delicious. Perhaps, I’m gonna catch more of ’em.”
Sheng Ao did not know what to do anymore. Earlier, he felt a bit proud for having breakthroughs, but now, it was like his life turned bleak. His master was definitely showing off! That must be it!
“Master, I don’t eat meat,” Sheng Ao said, straightening up his posture inside the airship. “You know… monks do not eat meat…”
“No, you must eat one. Do you really believe that all your powers will be gone when you eat meat as a monk? Or has it something to do with your principles? Come on, let’s eat meat!”
Seeing the agitation on Yang Lujia’s face, having that bright face he had never seen of his master before, he was somewhat touched that he was opening up to him more than before. However, he really could not eat meat. If he ate one, that was against his ideals of not feeling any pleasure.
This time, however, before they set off, Yang Lujia’s face hardened. “Ideals are mere ideals. We should not care too much about what the people around us would say about ourselves. Say, you care because you are human… and this is exactly what I am trying to say. Because you are human, ideals are mere ideals. It is just trying to trap your humanity inside. Yes, you are a monk, but a monk is no different than a human. Trust me, among you monks, there are also those who are cunning and those they call schemers. That’s why you don’t have to worry about it so much.”
Sheng Ao was surprised by this development. He never thought of the things that his master said to him. “I’ll consider what you said, master,” so, he said.
“Let’s go!” Yang Lujia said as he maneuvered the airship towards the direction they were heading to.
The Holy Light Palace!
In the periphery of the void, there were beasts congregating in one space. These beasts, unlike the ones who Yang Lujia had encountered so far in the lower realms, were actually sentient. They could already act on their own and had enough intelligence to intercept their enemies in the ways that they could.
One of them obviously had high attainments in the rules of space that he wantonly created a space for everyone to settle down… in the middle of the void where different kinds of storms could happen.
It was a tiger-like beast that had stripes of red and black as its fur. What was nauseating to look at was his pair of eyes that looked like he was possessed by someone for turning gray—the same as how the rule of space’s color was.
“Master, I’ve created the space we needed. You can now all enter. Just follow that greyish light,” the beast said. “Although it might be a bit unstable and I cannot guarantee that we wouldn’t be hit with a storm, I think we’ll be able to protect ourselves with it.”
“Good job, Bleed!”
Surprisingly, this void beast that was most proficient, among them, in space, called another void beast a master. This void beast had the same outline as a black dragon. Its long body had spikes all over, despite being negligible, but they all seemed to be ominous to look out for. In actuality, no one knew of this void beast’s power or the rules he controlled.
Only his servant, the one called Bleed, knew of his master’s powers as he was subdued by him in the past.
If they were to ask, just what kind of rules did this void beast have to subdue someone who was this proficient in the rules of space?
“Everyone, please be seated in the hall chairs that Bleed had provided us—”
“We’re not idiots, Amon,” a void beast cut him off. “Let’s get to the point. Why have you gathered us all here? Even if you’re strong, you can’t order us like how you order that cat of yours.”
When Bleed heard this, the tiger-like beast was immediately displeased, his face telling this void beast that he was not some cat for his master. He was a servant! The most revered servant of all!
“What’s the difference, anyway?” that void beast replied, as though it understood Bleed. “Amon, I know that we can’t enter Da Shikong even if we wanted to and we’d been stuck in this stage of our strength for so long now, but you have to know that this Realm of Spacetime had its protector. That protector… she is much stronger than us by a stage. She said that she didn’t want us to interfere with her plans.”
“We are not going to invade the realm or whatever,” Amon retorted. “I am actually calling you all here for one thing. One of our friends here, Destate, had a premonition a while ago. We all have to know that Destate is proficient in divination. A while ago, he said that when he tried to calculate our fates… it was all black… I wonder how we’ll counter this kind of…”
“What?!” the void beasts reacted and even rose from their seats. “What do you mean by black?!”
“Yes, black all over,” Destate, who had been silent all this time, answered. “I didn’t know if this was something we should be worried about or this was something we should defend our lives against.”
“I told you all before. I’m not here to order you anything. I’m only here to gather you all and tell you the truth of the fate that Destate had divined. We all know that Destate had never failed once in his divination in the past and those who died among them had black fates when he divined them,” Amon said.
“This…” the earlier void beast uttered, stunned by what he heard.
At the same time, all of them turned stiff in fear.
But Amon did not.
“What are you all afraid of? It doesn’t mean we all have black fates; we couldn’t defend our lives against our enemy. Even if we will have tremendous losses…”
SILENCE.
“Master, something is trying to enter the space I created,” Bleed said, his voice carrying a hint of fear.
TREMBLE
“What is it?” Amon said, annoyingly.
THUMP.
When Amon was about to utter the words he was about to say, he suddenly heard a voice that kept him on his toes, as though the voice was some ancient being trying to reap his life and the others’. It was terrifying.
“Oh, there are actually several of them here, though. That’s good. We won’t have a difficult time finding them. It seems that they’re pretty strong, too. Well, technically because they are born from the void.”
“What the fuck is going on?” Amon blurted out as he stared at the collapsing space that Bleed created. “Bleed…”
“Master…”
On the other hand, Yang Lujia stepped out of the airship and told Sheng Ao to wait. Sheng Ao cautiously told his master that these beasts were extremely strong and he had to be careful about them because they were still creatures that none had been able to figure out.
But Yang Lujia nonchalantly ignored his disciple’s warning. That was because when he saw the auras of these beasts, he knew right away that they were weak to him.
Afterward, he came half a meter away from the barrier of the space created by a certain void beast and uttered the words, “Interesting.”
What he did thereafter was probably the most shocking thing that Sheng Ao had ever witnessed. If others were to see how his master made this spatial barrier collapse, they would definitely have their jaws dropped to the ground.
“They’re quite cute,” Yang Lujia said as he tapped his forefinger on the spatial barrier.
As for what happened next, everything went haywire.
