Chapter 18 – Why Won’t You Catch Me Every Time (1)
One particular day, all the servants in the residence were called by the head female servant for a lecture. Therefore, in the courtyard, only Ye Mu and the two boys were left.
Because the Ye Xiaolang and Mo Linyuan were currently slaves, they were still not entitled to see the head servant. With no one else present this afternoon, Ye Mu had gave them a half-day holiday!
Ye Xiaolang was ecstatic! He used live in the jungle, wild and free. But fate cruel: he had been caught and brought to this place, where he had to be careful of every step he took and word he uttered. Tightly restricted, he feels he’s already close to suffocating!
“Young lady! What are we going to play?” He asked excitedly.
Mo Linyuan merely glanced at the other party. He continued to read, feeling he didn’t need a holiday. He would only study and train himself! Cultivate every moment to become stronger!
However, Ye Mu was caught in a difficult dilemma. What could be interesting in this ancient era where you can’t play computer games?
She looked up to the bright sky overhead and decided.
“It’s a fine day today. Let’s fly a kite!”
“Okay! Okay!” Ye Xiaolang nodded, enthusiastic to comply.
Ye Mu turned around and rummaged a kite out of her cabinet. She brought out a very large peacock kite, a toy collected by the original Ye Mu before but was never used. Today, it will finally see the sky!
Because the kite was too big for Ye Mu’s small stature, most of the tails dragged across the ground as she ran to raise the kite up. It was a futile effort. Thinking there was no other option left, Ye Mu turned her line of sight towards Mo Linyuan hidden on one corner.
“Heavens! You are still reading until now!?”
Ye Mu was astonished. Did Mo Linyuan have no childishness in him at all? He had three times as many academic assignments than Ye Xiaolang and now that she had given them time to entertain themselves and relax, he was still unmoved!
Mo Linyuan placed down the book he was reading, with some helplessness he replied, “I still have a political essay to memorize. Master will quiz me on it tomorrow.”
Nowadays, Mo Linyuan was a bit more talkative than before. After all, in spite of everything, humans have fleeting emotions and changeable minds. He had felt Ye Mu’s sincerity through her actions lately, making him feel conflicted and his heart topsy-turvy.
Hearing these words, Ye Mu moved towards him and grabbed his book, forcefully throwing it aside!
“Whatever. Hold the string—Xiaolang will run ahead with the kite, and I will be behind. That’s the final word!”
What else could Mo Linyuan do if she’s being a domineering small bean? He could only accept the coil with a deadpan face.
However, he remembered he had only played this kind of toy once, so he wasn’t very skilled in flying kites. And over there, Ye Mu has already yelled to commence flying the kite! Immediately, Xiaolang ran ahead with Ye Mu in tow behind him, chasing after the long kite tail!
Ye Xiaolang runs very fast; Ye Mu was a special soldier in her original world, but her current body was just a Lolita. Plus, Mo Linyuan was just standing like wooden stick at the back and refused to move. Therefore, they ran for a long time without getting the kite up.
Watching disappointment flit across Ye Mu’s face as she looked at the kite, Mo Linyuan finally laid down his guard and ran with them. Just then, a strong spring wind blew, and the kite slowly descends to the sky!
“It’s going to fly! Young lady, I’ll let go now!”
With that, Ye Xiaoliang released the kite from his hands. As soon as his hands let go, he went to grab the coil from Mo Linyuan’s hand. Meanwhile, Ye Mu also loosened her hold on the kite’s tail, but she wasn’t able to see where her feet was running and tripped.
“Be careful!”
Mo Linyuan instinctively threw the kite coil to the approaching Ye Xiaolang and dashed towards Ye Mu, catching her, almost in a blink of an eye.
But Ye Mu only gave him a quick glance, rather, her eyes were glued to the sky, watching the huge peacock kite slowly rise. Her mouth involuntarily opened in awe and she felt a great sense of achievement in her heart!
“Did you see it? It’s flying!!!”
Ye Mu eagerly shook Mo Linyuan by the shoulder. Her body was still in Mo Linyuan half-embrace, but it still didn’t stop her from jumping up and down in a frenzy.
Maybe the sunshine was too good; maybe the wind was too much. But when Mo Linyuan looked at Ye Mu’s delicately powdered small face, framed by her round, bright eyes, his heart couldn’t help but tremble at this adorable sight… He finally admitted that his doubts were slowly disappearing.
For, this kind of a lovely little girl makes the people who see her unconsciously accept her.
