Chapter 35 – Trouble Knocking at the Door (2)
Ye Mu would often subconsciously forget that she was only six years old. She still has that protective mentality towards her people as before.
Today, Mo Linyuan and Ye Xiaolang were both slaves. Mo Linyuan has his tongue cut off, so the less they appear in front of people, the better.
With that, Ye Mu shook off Mo Linyuan’s hand and left. in front of outsiders, she never showed how much importance she attached to them, and Wan Hong naturally did not take them seriously.
“Please, Seventh Young Miss.”
Ye Mu snorted and strode ahead. Ye Xiaolang wanted to go after her, but he was held back by Mo Linyuan. They will only hold her back for now. And because Ye Mu had said that the Ye main mother was definitely not a good person. Finally, he motioned to Xiaolang a warning with his eyes.
Ye Xiaolang understood the moment he looked at his face, “Do you mean we should also go to the general?”
He is quite scared, unsurprisingly so. After all, Ye Li is terrible and he could die a painful death if he was not careful! But when he thought of the young lady, his eyes hardened and he said to Xiaoqiu, “Sister Xiaoqiu, let’s go! We will go together!
Xiaoqiu nodded and several people hurried to towards the lobby where the banquet was held.
Although Ye Mu said that the main mother wanted to kill her, it was not something surprising for her. She had read the biography, so she knew very well that the main mother of the Ye residence was not a caring person as she appeared to be in the original host’s memories.
This woman held a dislike for the original Ye Mu since the day she was born and had always wanted to dispose of her, but only lacked the opportunity.
The reason why she disliked her was very simple, it was all because the birth mother of the original Ye Mu, was formerly a confidant around the main mother who unpredictably ended up crawling into Ye Li’s bed.
She was especially spoiled for a few years, but because of her growing arrogance, she was secretly killed by the main mother a year ago.
Then, fearing that she would be doubted by Ye Li, the first wife ceased all actions and turned to silence for a few years. She greeted Ye Mu like her own daughter, made her feel like a rich, pampered girl with healthy and delicious meals at her beck and call. She allowed her to do what she pleases, not having to learn women’s etiquette, or to follow protocol and pay respects to the elderly. She let her torture people as she wished.
She gave her everything, flattered her every move.
And this created a strong illusion that this main mother was very kind to her. But it was all only to serve one purpose in the future, that is, when she would kill her, no one would suspect her.
And now a year has passed…all the grudges the main mother held for her would not be so easily contained at this time. At her most vulnerable moment, and with the earlier fiasco with Ye Tian, she could say that the main mother would obviously play her hand now.
Just as she was thinking about everything, they had arrived at the most exquisite and rich place in the general’s mansion. In the pavilion behind the sharp rockery and clear, flowing water, a lady was gracefully drinking tea. Behind her were countless attendants, flanking her lone frame. Her long silk dress was intertwined in red and blue as they dragged on the ground.
Ye Mu squinted towards her direction, eased her thoughts, and went forwards to salute. “Mother, little Seven is here.”
Wen Ru spared her a cursory glance, not bothering to acknowledge her greeting. When she opened her mouth to speak, this gave Ye Mu a bad feeling.
“Mu’er has been blessed with great power and prestige lately…I’ve even heard that even your older brother wants to avoid its sharp edge.”
Her voice was gentle, and her features were plain and soft. But with the calculating light that occasionally flashed in her eyes, one could determine she was definitely no ordinary, meek person.
Ye Mu knows that the other side did not call her over with a good intention. The only thing she could do for now, is to buy time. In hopes that Ye Li, in exchange for the treasures she bestowed upon him, would come to save her.
So Ye Mu stood up and said, “Did my elder brother tell you that? Brother misunderstood, Little Seven usually respects him the most. Last time, it was just a natural joke between brothers and sisters!”
“Are you making a joke out of this?”
Wen Ru did not expect that the little girl in front of her could casually make a big deal a small matter.
