Chapter 221 Final Battle 3

221  Final Battle 3

It took Axel three grueling hours to navigate through the undead-infested terrain and lead his veteran team back to Camelot City. Upon their arrival, exhaustion clung to them, but Axel wasted no time. His focus was set on the most lucrative reward—a showdown with the boss-level undead, the Dreadnought.

“We are here. You can rest now, Captain Amon,” Axel assured the weary Egyptian captain.

Despite their small numbers—only 15 veterans—Axel’s presence at the devastated wall triggered a sudden shift in the undead hordes surrounding them. The creatures, once aggressive and relentless, seemed to lose their edge, becoming mere targets awaiting destruction by the newly arrived veterans.

It was the passive ability of Axel’s newly acquired Necromancer class. As he stood near the broken wall, the influence of the Lich King appeared to waver.

“Go kill that giant!” Axel ordered, pointing toward the formidable Dreadnought. The veterans, reinvigorated by Axel’s leadership, prepared for a decisive assault on the monstrous undead foe.

Cammie, the Blue Blaster, showcased her acrobatic prowess, expertly navigating between the houses. With precise movements, she unleashed the destructive force of her energy cannon, each shot leaving trails of brilliant light in the night. The other veterans quickly followed suit, strategically positioning themselves to create a relentless onslaught that surrounded the Dreadnought from multiple angles. Having Gabriel the Bishop standing by to ensure their health and stamina, they dared to aggressively compete for the honor of landing the most hits.

With great effort and skill, the players managed to bring down both Dreadnoughts on each sides of the walls; eastern and western walls. The exhilarating sight of the colossal undead falling in defeat filled the players with a triumphant sense of accomplishment. Soon after, an announcement resounded through their gamelinks:

[You have completed Bonus quest: Defeat Wuffia the Dreadnought]

[You have completed Bonus quest: Defeat Horsa the Dreadnought]

The rewards varied, ranging from a basic 500 survival points for mere participation to prestigious Rank C rewards for the top contributors. The players eagerly anticipated the distribution of their hard-earned rewards, celebrating their victory in the heart of the chaotic battlefield.

Eager for greater rewards, Axel and his veteran team, despite their delayed arrival, swiftly transitioned from the defense of the destroyed wall to the central gate. The French noble had set his sights on the formidable Abyss Knight, determined to secure a more substantial reward for himself and his men. This abrupt shift in strategy left the defense of the destroyed wall in the capable hands of Captain Thierry and Amon.

The situation at the central gate was dire. Captain Summers, leading the special forces, found it nearly impossible to contend with the B-rank undead boss and the relentless onslaught of undead minions. In the thirty minutes since the battle began, they had only managed to chip away at one-third of the Abyss Knight’s health. The fey warriors and Britannia knights under Captain Summers’ command had suffered severe casualties, with many succumbing to the undead forces turning these once NPC alias into formidable enemies.

Axel and his veteran team found themselves in the midst of chaos as they faced not only the formidable Abyss Knight but also a horde of gargoyles that swarmed the area. The veterans’ arrival was a welcome relief to the beleaguered defenders at the central gate.

“Let’s clear these undead soldiers first!” Axel commanded, seizing control of the situation with authoritative leadership. The veterans, battle-hardened and disciplined, quickly fell into formation, engaging the undead minions with precision.

Following behind the reinforcements was a sharpshooter, a sniper girl whose sudden appearance prompted a series of urgent inquiries. She directed her questions at Axel with a sense of urgency, her concern palpable.

“Where is Alan? Where is he?” Rose demanded, her eyes searching for answers.

Vicky and Lieutenant Summers, the special forces leader, also turned their attention to Axel, awaiting an explanation. Unable to evade the question any longer, Axel responded,

“Isn’t it obvious? He died on the quest!”

A wave of disbelief washed over Vicky’s face as she sought clarification. “How?! How did he die?” Tʜe sourcᴇ of thɪs content ɪs NoᴠᴇFɪre.nᴇt

Axel, maintaining a stoic demeanor, delivered the news matter-of-factly. “Don’t be dramatic. He has enough survival points to join the next round. Now, focus on the fight!”

Rose, however, couldn’t easily accept this response. Her gaze intensified, reflecting a mixture of disbelief and determination as she silently vowed to uncover the truth. The battle raged on, but the unsettling news lingered in the minds of those who had fought alongside Alan.

Despite the turmoil, Vicky focused on her contributions to the ongoing fight against the Abyss Knight. She strategically shared her abilities with the two werewolf duo, Marcus and Jason, boosting their defense and HP. Simultaneously, the death knights, having dealt with multiple undead soldiers, unleashed their maximum 30% boost in damage.

The Abyss Knight, despite being on the brink of defeat, proved to be a formidable adversary. As its health dropped to critical levels, it unleashed a defensive skill that made it nearly impervious to the onslaught. The veterans found their attacks reduced to mere scratches, while a single swing of the Abyss Knight’s sword could cleave through more than half of their HP.

“Just 10% more! Kill it!” shouted Cachellos, urging the veterans to press on and finish the giant undead knight.

Their efforts were reaching a critical point, but before they could achieve victory, distant shrieks echoed through the battlefield. The Lich King, mounted on its skeletal horse, began advancing, accompanied by a massive concentration of undead units.

The horde’s movement shifted with terrifying coordination, concentrating its forces directly on the central gate. In mere moments, the gates were overrun as thousands of undead surged out like an unstoppable tide, flooding the area around the Abyss Knight and the battling veterans. The situation took a dire turn as the defenders faced not only the relentless Abyss Knight but also the impending onslaught of the Lich King and his undead legions.

“The Lich King is coming!!”
