??Abraxus stood stunned, his body hunching over as he stared blankly toward Dyon’s back.
None of this made any sense…
One had to remember that Dyon initially captured Apollos after he attacked Luna. Back then, he had used the Jafari Clan treasure…
The Jafari Clan treasure was precisely an heirloom of Abraxus’ own family. But, it wasn’t very useful on the Immortal Plane, so Abraxus had left it behind for his descendants before he transcended.
When one thought to this level, there were too many points that simply didn’t make any sense. How could Dyon use a treasure Abraxus created back when he was mortal to capture the person that could defeat Abraxus now that he was Immortal…?!
Such questions were enough to turn anyone insane. But, Abraxus could only watch as Dyon
walked further and further away, clearly without the slightest intention of explaining anything.
Eventually Dyon crossed the battlefield and ended up being back on the Mortal Empire side. His heart was filled with thoughts of Madeleine.
None of that had been fake. Madeleine had truly been pierced through by Abraxus and her lifeforce truly had dissipated. As much as he wanted all of that to be a fa?ade, it simply wasn’t.
However, Madeleine was still ultimately a heiress of the phoenix clans. The only issue was that her Sapientia blood essence was interfering. So, a catalyst was necessary.
Luckily, Dyon had a contingency plan: Amethyst.
He didn’t put all that effort into strengthening her without reason. It was time that annoying woman became of some use.
“Emperor!”
“Emperor!”
The scene was incredibly odd. Dyon glided through the battlefield as though he couldn’t be bothered to care about it. At the same time, the Titans, who battled on his behalf, shouted out as he passed by them one after another, pausing their own battles to lower their heads before turning back and reaping more Sapientia lives.
Dyon absentmindedly nodded toward them, but it was clear his thoughts weren’t on the battle at all.
Finally, Dyon made it to the region just above Soul Rend Planet.
This was another odd scene. The planet hovered above the Ancient Battlefield lands below. Yet, neither interfered with the other, as though it was perfectly fine for land to hover above land like this.
Dyon turned his head and sent a nod toward a certain direction. The person he had looked toward was actually Kukan. No one but she and Dyon knew that the reason the Ancient Battlefield could fuse with the mortal plane like this was thanks to her. Of course… without Dyon’s help she would have never been capable of such a thing.
Dyon finally appeared amidst his wives. But, shockingly, none of them were even paying attention to him. Instead, they had all surrounded what looked like a corpse and a woman. The woman and the corpse shared the same violet hair, and though the corpse had its eyes closed, it was very likely they shared the same violet eyes as well.
Usually, in such a situation, Dyon would make a joke about his wives ignoring him. But at this point in time, he didn’t have the mind to care
about such a thing as the corpse before him was none other than his wife… Madeleine.
The only one who reacted to Dyon’s appearance was the woman who was also the center of attention: Amethyst.
“You raised me like a cattle?”
Amethyst’s relationship with Dyon had never been the most amicable. After knowing that he wanted her to revive his wife like this, and realizing how many things seemed to be playing in the palm of her hand, she couldn’t help but turn an angry look toward Dyon.
However… The current Dyon wasn’t in the mood for such games. This was a matter related to his wife.
In reply to her words, his expression darkened. But, considering he was just a soul at the moment and he constantly had golden lights
hovering around his body, his imposing presence was several times more than usual.
“This isn’t the time for you to be pissing me off woman.”
Dyon’s voice was cold. He had never been one who took it easy on women. Plus, considering the situation, he didn’t have the patience to be playing these mind games.
“Husband, are you bullying Little Sister Amethyst again?”
At that moment a familiar voice followed by a familiar giggle followed. Dyon’s wives looked over to find Saru and Lilith flying out from the depths of the Ancient Battlefield on the back of Little Gold.
The two of them had already saved Amethyst once from Dyon’s rage and it seemed like they might have to try again. But, this time it was truly too serious. Dyon really might not hesitate to kill
Amethyst this time. The only reason they had stepped in was to ease the tension a small bit.
“Trust me when I say that I can rip your blood essence out of your body without your consent. It’s either you do as I say and you can live, or you don’t have you die. Either way, I get what I want. Don’t test my patience.”
Amethyst trembled furiously under Dyon’s gaze and words. But even then, she didn’t dare feel the slightest anger. She could tell that at this point, even Saru and Lilith couldn’t stop Dyon from killing her this time.
Gritting her teeth, Amethyst pierced two fingers through her own heart. A sharp pain assaulted her body, but beneath Dyon’s gaze, she didn’t dare to stop.
After a moment, she violently pulled, causing a streak of odd fluid to follow her fingers.
Sometimes, the fluid looked like a flame, but at others, it would look like a liquid. It constantly danced between the two states. But, what was obvious was that Amethyst was growing paler and paler with each passing moment. At the same time, as the line of odd flaming liquid entered Madeleine’s body, the wound on her chest closed and she even began to regain some color.
After a moment, Dyon made a grabbing motion toward Madeleine’s body. The blood sprite coated his hands, causing a golden line of liquid to exit his wife.
He looked toward the blood with disdain before burning it into nothingness.
“That’s enough.”
Dyon didn’t spare the pale-faced Amethyst a glance as he tossed a pill toward her.
He picked up Madeleine’s corpse. Even now, she hadn’t regained any of her lifeforce.
Dyon felt a pang in his heart when he saw his wife in this state. The truth was that though he suspected his master, he didn’t want to believe it. If it wasn’t for his own foolish sentiments, such a thing would have never happened.
He took a deep breath, calming his emotions.
“Come with me, I’ll take you all to a place.”
Dyon’s wives and his daughter nodded. Everything still felt so surreal. In one moment, they thought they were all going to die, and in the next, Dyon had reversed it all like he always did.
As they followed Dyon toward an unknown destination, Alauna, who had been throwing a slight tantrum and ‘ignoring’ her father, couldn’t help it anymore.
“Dad, how did you do it?”
“Oh, you’re talking to me again?” Dyon asked playfully.
Unlike with Amethyst, he would of course give many concessions to his little girl. She could act as willfully as she pleased and he would never get angry. So, he didn’t do much else than tease her for ignoring him.
Alauna pouted, wanting to hit Dyon but finding that she couldn’t touch him either.
“Just tell me, where did all these people come from?” She finally asked, feeling annoyed.
Dyon chuckled. “Since I knew the existence of the Sapientia, how could I not make plans? The purpose of my several lives wasn’t just to find you all again… It was also a method of going back in time and laying the foundation you all see now without Abraxus learning of it. It was too large of a scope for anyone to see through it.
“They all thought I was a madman just trying to bring his family back together.”
“You knew he would betray you?”
“Aiya, so many questions. We’re already here.”
Alauna knew that Dyon didn’t want to talk about it by the way he was acting. Maybe he didn’t know his master would do such a thing and had only taken a precautionary measure he had hoped he wouldn’t need…
“Here?”
Alauna looked down in confusion.
This place was Earth. However, it had been blasted apart. Clearly, after Aritzia broke free, she hadn’t spared the planet. But, there was no one living in this place anymore anyway.
“Not the planet… But the Epistemic Tower.”
Alauna and Dyon’s wives felt their visions blur. In an instant, they were in a whole new world…
…
On the top floor of the Epistemic Tower, a room that had been quiet for far too long rumbled to life.
Within that room stood exactly 119 statues.
On one side stood 117. 108 of whom were male, while 9 of them were female.
On the other side stood only 2 statues. One male. One female.
At that moment, the male statue vibrated violently, while the female statue that seemed to have had a sad expression finally had its mood lifted, becoming filled with joy in an instant.
Afterward, the room quietened as though nothing had happened… However… All 119 of them seemed to be waiting for something…
…
This was the very same illusion Dyon had caught a glimpse of at the end of the second trial. But now, he knew exactly what these statues were.
The 108 men… Each and every one was a version of himself. 108 different lifetimes.
The one male and one female. Those were none other than his parents. He couldn’t help but smile when he laid eyes on their faces. Soon, they would be with him again.
As for the nine females… Who else could they be?
Madeleine. Alexandria. Clara. Amphorae. Luna. Saru. Lilith. Jade. And… His little girl, Alauna.
As for his supposed ninth wife… hadn’t he just married his Madeleine, his first love, twice? This would be the third… and the final time.
The moment they entered this place, Madeleine’s statue began to glow, causing a light to flow into her corpse. And then… her lashes began to flutter.
