The shock wave of the attack sent a wave of energy that tore up the ground, sending rock and dirt in all directions. Kana dug her claws into the ground and held onto Ceilie, who was thrown back by the wave of energy from the blast. She even wrapped her tail around Ceilie to try to give her some protection. Hot steamy air passed by the three girls as the magic attack finally subsided. The dust slowly began to settle, revealing a large crater a few meters deep. Some parts of the ground were still glowing red and smoking, showing just how dangerous that attack truly was.
“What the hell was that!?” Kana stared at the place they were once standing in shock. She couldn’t imagine escaping such an attack like that.
“Divine Judgment…. The church is out to kill Tilia. Kana, we need to leave quickly!” Ceilie grabbed Kana’s paw and pulled her along as she continued around away from the destruction zone. Kana held Princess Tilia tightly on her back as she continued to run.
“Your holiness…” A man in armor approached the man in white robes.
“Did you find the rabbit?” The man in white robes asked.
“No, your holiness. We do not know what means he used to escape, but he was able to free himself from our binds and disappeared.” The man in armor said shakingly. He was very afraid of the man in white robes.
“You and your men will receive their punishment when we return. For now, we can say the Princess is dead publicly. So if she is alive, it will be harder for her to make a fuss. This world is not a place for other races. The human race will dominate all those devil spawns. They are nothing more than tools to be enslaved to serve humans.” The man in white robes said coldly as he looked at the crater in front of him. The wind rustling his white robes. After a long glance at the destruction, he turned and walked away. The man in armor quickly followed after him.
“Hmm? Why is it so bumpy? Kana?” Princess Tilia slowly woke up from her body being jostled around.
“Tilia, you are finally awake! I swear I’ve never seen anyone who could sleep through so much so easily!” Kana complained as she continued running. They did not have time to stop at this time. They could only continue running with everything they had.
“Huh? What happened!?” Princess Tilia finally woke up and almost fell backward. She reached forward quickly, wrapping her arms around Kana’s neck.
“Tilia, do you know if the church is out to kill you? They attacked us and even used Divine Judgement!” Ceilie explained.
“What!?” Princess Tilia’s whole body trembled in fear. She had heard about that spell and how if more than one priest cast the spell, they could wipe out an entire kingdom with ease. This is one of the reasons why the Yuthia Theocracy was able to hold its standing on this continent.
“For now, just hold on Tilia, we need to get across the border as soon as possible.” Kana said as she picked up her pace.
“Although I do not feel that presence any more, you should keep going. At your current speed, the two of you should make it to the border by morning.” Lysairth was shocked to see the destruction that humans could do now. That spell alone could easily kill a dragon or two. For humans to have such a horrifying person on their side was not a good thing.
“Mmm… I also want to leave this place as soon as possible.” Kana fully agreed with what Lysairth was saying.
The girls continued running towards the Rural Kingdom’s border all night. It was not until sunrise that they finally caught a glimpse of the border wall. “Ceilie, any ideas on how to get past the border? If we try to cross the normal way, we will end up being instantly caught.” Kana asked.
“To be fully honest with you, Kana, I am not sure. If we were still in the wagon, we could easily get past the border check but not now. I have been thinking about why the church would attack like this, and it must be because of Tilia. Tilia, did you mention to anyone your plans for going to the Rural Kingdom?” Ceilie knew that in order for Tilia to get out of the castle, she must have asked someone for help. This help allowed her to make it all the way to the border cities where she met Pepelt.
Princess Tilia was slow to answer as she was still trying to take in all the information she had been given. Knowing Pepelt may have died because he was trying to hold the enemy back really weighed heavy on her shoulders. For the first time in her life, she finally understood what it meant to hold the weight of millions of lives on her shoulders.
“Tilia?” Kana called out. She was starting to get worried because of how quiet Tilia was being.
“Huh? Ahh… Sorry…. I was just thinking that no matter what, I will need to speak to the beast king. And how I also hope Pepelt is okay….” Princess Tilia started to realize that in order to change things, she may need her title as a princess after all.
“Tilia, did you speak to anyone about your plans to warn the Rural Kingdom?” Ceilie asked again.
“Just the closest person to me that I trusted fully, my personal maid. ”
