’Li Yuyan.’
When she read the name on the screen, Qin Luofei was reminded of He Xinyan again, and she gritted her teeth in anger.
”Hello?”
Li Yuyan’s sweet voice sounded, “Luofei! I have good news for you!”
”What?” Qin Luofei was getting impatient as her family was probably going to be here soon. She could already imagine what her brother would say about her when all of her friends ignored her.
”I can help you prove yourself in front of your father. Don’t you want the company to go into your hands, and not your brother? I have material for you that will make an extremely hot news article.”
Qin Luofei raised one eyebrow, “What is it?”
”I even thought of a title for you. . . The daughter and heir of the He Corporation’s relationship revealed.”

He Xinyan followed behind Gu Yechen as they walked down the flight of stairs to his car. Gu Yechen’s assistant, Chen Xiao, quickly ran over and took the suitcase out of Gu Yechen’s hands.
The suitcase was baby pink in color and belonged to He Xinyan.
Gu Yechen helped open the car door, and He Xinyan stepped in.
”Xihe Estates,” He Xinyan stated the name of the neighborhood where the He mansion was in.
The large city they were in could be split into three sections. The far south was the community for the lower classes. Homeless could be seen scouring the streets for food, and several of them also set up tents where they would live.
A few houses could be seen there, but most of them were small. Overall, the living environment in the south wasn’t very good.
In the east and west, there were the houses and apartments where the middle class would live. They were usually the working class, but a few of them may be in the upper class, such as a manager in a company or an owner of a shop.
Finally, the north was for the upper class. The Xihe Estates was located in the north, and it was a chain of mansions where the rich families would live. Most of these families owned medium or large-sized businesses and had quite a lot of wealth.
The north also included other separate mansions and rich neighborhoods.
There was also a fourth section, but it shouldn’t really be considered as a section, since it only consisted of one family; the Gu family.
In the far northeast, right at the border of the city, there was a gigantic mansion surrounded by trees. It was known to be the best land in all of Country Z, and there were many rumors about how the air quality up there was much better because of the abundance of trees. People also assumed that the Gu mansion took up over 10 acres of land (about 40000 square meters).
Few people had ever seen the mansion before, and He Xinyan was quite curious about the legendary land and the enormous mansion.
They arrived at the Xihe Estates in a little less than an hour, and Chen Xiao helped He Xinyan carry her luggage to the front steps of the He mansion.
”Goodbye,” He Xinyan said to Gu Yechen. After a few days of contact, He Xinyan’s view of Gu Yechen changed drastically. He was not cold and scary like what people said. Instead, he was actually kind of cute and sweet. . .
However, right now, Gu Yechen’s face was a little scary. He didn’t want to leave his future wifey!
*helemon’s note: Ah, looks like we have another shameless male lead. Who said I will make our lovely Xinyan your future wife? Hmph, I won’t give her to you and you can die alone!
”Goodbye,” Gu Yechen mumbled unhappily.
Without looking back, He Xinyan walked up the steps to her house and disappeared into the front door.
Gu Yechen stayed standing still for a few minutes, and the workers walking by would look at him suspiciously.
”CEO Gu, there is a board meeting in an hour.”
Gu Yechen sighed and walked back to the car. It’s not like they won’t be seeing each other again. Plus, he had his own ways to live closer to her. . .
He Xinyan entered the large mansion and the butler immediately greeted her politely. This butler had been here since her grandfather first built the mansion, and he was very close to Xinyan.
He was like a second father to her –
”Yanyan!” Bai Jiawei walked into the living room with his wife, Li Huiran, and their daughter, Li Yuyan behind him.
Although He Xinyan disliked Li Huiran and Li Yuyan, she had nothing against her father. Her father would still be partial to her over Li Yuyan. After all, He Xinyan was his first wife’s daughter and also the only true He in the family.
”Dad,” He Xinyan replied with a smile and hugged her father. She was at school most of the time, so she didn’t see her dad often.
”Yanyan is back. Congratulations on graduating!” Li Huiran walked over to He Xinyan with a caring smile and took the suitcase away from He Xinyan’s hand.
Xinyan’s smile stiffened a little on her face, but it quickly returned to normal. In the past, she had thought that Li Huiran truly cared about her as her stepmother, but she was completely wrong.
A hideous and unpleasant face was hidden behind that thick mask of hers, and in a few years, she was going to take it off.
However, as of now, she was still pretending to be a great stepmother. Of course, He Xinyan had to play along with her act.
”Auntie Li, I missed you.” He Xinyan didn’t forget to also insult her indirectly, “Maybe it’s because I haven’t seen you in so long, but it seems like you got more wrinkles on your face now. Oh, and also the white hair. Auntie Li, you have to take better care of your appearance. After all, the He family is very influential and you still got a lot of years ahead of you.”
Li Huiran’s lips twitched as one hand unconsciously moved up to her face. It seemed like He Xinyan was being considerate, but on the inside, she was just saying that Li Huiran was old now.
Li Huiran squeezed out a smile, “Yes, Yanyan. You are correct, Auntie Li will pay more attention.”
He Xinyan smiled sweetly and her eyes moved to Li Yuyan, who was standing behind her mother.
”Hello, older sister.”
Li Yuyan wasn’t as good as acting as her mother, and there was no trace of a smile on her face. She was still angry about what happened in Su Zhiming’s apartment a few weeks ago, and even now, she was still helping Su Zhiming get money to pay He Xinyan back.
”Hello.”
”Do you not welcome me?” He Xinyan looked hurt.
Li Yuyan looked away and saw that her mother was glaring at her, a signal for her to put down her pride, “Of course I welcome you, Xinyan.”
He Xinyan smiled and turned to her dad, “Dad, I’m going to go organize my belongings. Call me when it’s time for dinner.”
Bai Jiawei smiled at his daughter and also left the living room after He Xinyan had gone upstairs.
He Xinyan’s room was at the end of the hallway facing the south, so a lot of sunlight was able to enter the large room. Besides the master bedroom where her dad lived, He Xinyan’s room was the best in the house.
She pushed the door open and saw that everything was still in the same place and the room was bright and clean.
A large king bed with white and pink colors was facing the front of the room, and a sparkling chandelier light hung from the ceiling.
Her closet was probably bigger than the bedroom of normal houses, but He Xinyan didn’t have enough clothes to fill it up.
There was a sitting bench near the window, and He Xinyan still remembered how she would sit on her mother’s lap and her mother would read her stories right there.
A picture of her mother sat on her nightstand, and it was clear that someone had wiped the picture before she came back.
Xinyan sighed before opening up her suitcase and beginning to organize her things.
