Chapter 185 - A Bald Drake

Crackle! Crackle! Sizzle! Sizzle!

Without any warning, the entire lake was suddenly electrified and the water drake swung its body around to look at the pest that had caused it.

Roaaar! It let out an angry shout and this time swam towards the cliff where Qin Hua was standing. It whipped its tail and finally retaliated, sending out a huge blast of lake water and air currents towards her.

[Ah! Damn it. RUNNNN!]

Qin Hua instantly switched places with her clone again running back to the gate. She had really assumed that this would work, but the damned drake did not look injured at all.

[Whyyyyy!] She pounded on the cave’s floor in anger. Did her attack even sting the damned beast? Even though the beast was in the water and her attack should have had the advantage, she had failed yet again.

[Are none of my attacks strong enough to cross its physical defense?]

This time she was truly out of ideas. [Growl! Let me try attacking it once with my best shadow attack.] At this point, she didn’t know what else to do.

She could probably return back here with Lu Chen and Alex and try defeating the drake together with them? Though their power levels were a lot lower compared to her, they could train harder together.

Qin Hua sighed in frustration and decided to attack one more time before leaving the rift. She summoned her clone and ran back to the drake, with a long and thick spear made out of swirling black wisps of energy.

It was actually a specific kind of spear with three tips, fashioned like a trident. So this weapon had all the ideal components including weight, focus, and power.

She dashed towards the drake and quickly tossed it at the beast. B.A.N.G!

A loud reverberation echoed as her strongest most concentrated attack hit the beast, striking directly against its thick hard scales.

Qin Hua only had a second to observe before disappearing and she saw that she had actually managed to crack a couple of its scales!

Another enraged roar echoed as she once again switched places with her clone, landing next to Coco ready to run.

But this time, even though her heart was still beating out of her chest, the wolf had a wild grin on her face.

Meow? Coco cocked her head to the side curiously to see what her master was so happy about when her eyes sparkled as she watched Qin Hua in awe.

Qin Hua materialized black wisps of shadow energy on her right paw and crackling sparks of lightning energy on her left paw.

With a wild look in her eyes, she then made them both into balls and combined them together.

CRACKLE! CRACKLE!

The black ball merged with the lightning ball effortlessly and a strong powerful aura seeped out. The air around them sizzled with so much energy that it made the cat yelp and take a step back in fear.

At the same time, though it appeared effortless, the strain it placed on Qin Hua’s body was tremendous.

Her breathing became ragged and her feral eyes became bloodshot, but the wolf continued to be in high spirits.

[Mu ha ha ha! This is it, Coco! This time I am going to win! GROWL!]

She dashed once again with a roar, the bomb ready to explode still lingering around her. The drake, as well, was ready for her and greeted her with a blast of water, opening its mouth wide.

Qin Hua did not dodge it and used this attack to send her own attack in, directly aiming for the beast’s mouth.

She withstood the strain on her body and mind, and even fashioned the combined mass of energy into a trident and shot it forward with full power.

KABOOOM! BANG! BANG!

For the first time, the drake lost its cool and composure and roared in pain and agony. Blood seeped from the corners of its mouth as it ate the attack completely.

A pinkish red hue also appeared on several parts of its body. It was injured and bruised from head to tail, even some of its spikes falling down.

<Ding. You have learned a new skill [Shadow Lightning Trident]>

<Ding. You have unlocked Fenrir’s bloodline [1/10]>

<Ding. Your proficiency in the shadow element has improved; All shadow element attacks now have 20% extra damage>

<Ding. Your proficiency in the lightning element has improved; All lightning element attacks now have 20% extra damage>

<Ding. All attacks combining shadow element and lightning element now have 50% extra damage>

[YAAASSS!] Looking at the gorgeous notifications, Qin Hua let out a howl that matched the agonized cry of the water drake.

Seeing that its life was in danger, the beast no longer seemed to care about guarding the rift crystal and jumped up to directly come at her. The internal injuries it had suffered caused it to retaliate in frenzy.

ROARRRR!

So what if you use a powerful attack, it’s not like you can use multiple of these attacks! Anger and confidence shone in its eyes as it directly lunged forward to finish the pest once and for all!

The lake gurged like a whirlpool and the humungous body of the water drake flew forward.

It lashed its tail in fury and hit the cave walls causing rocks and boulders to crumble down. Blasts of water filled the narrow cave tunnel and flooded everything and Coco was floating at the other end.

The drake could see the tiredness in the small wolf that had sent out an attack that was clearly above its limits, but surprisingly the wolf did not even attempt to run away this time.

Arrogance sparked in its eyes as it struck down towards the exhausted wolf.

And it was not wrong. A drop of blood trickled down Qin Hua’s mouth as well and fell on the floor. Her body was ready to give out and collapse on the ground.

However, she was far from being done. This time she didn’t bother switching places with the clone and instead summoned the ultimate skill and divine backup plan.

[PURCHASE!]

Two vials appeared on her hand and she downed both down her throat, not moving an inch from her position. She stood rooted to the ground like an immovable mountain withstanding the pressure of the water blasting at her.

Just as the drake appeared near her, she once again willed her freshly replenished mana reserves and formed balls of black wisps and crackling lightning.

She directly jammed both her attacks onto the drake, combining them together as they hit the giant beast.

KABOOM! BANG! BANG!

She forced the strong attack down the drake’s throat standing right in front of its mouth and the drake that had opened its mouth to swallow the wolf now froze in shock.

Its eyes widened in disbelief and the next second, it fell down with a loud thud on the cave’s floor. Its teeth and scales fell out and blood seeped out from the hole Qin Hua had drilled into the beast’s thick defense with her attack.

The hole extended all the way, everything in its head effectively scrambled. Without anything else left, the drake twitched like a fish out of water, before its body entirely became still and lifeless.

For a moment, the cave became completely silent. Nothing moved. Nothing breathed. Even the swirling lake calmed down, not a single current drifting on it.

Only the loud chirp of the notification sounded.

<Ding. You have learned a new skill [Shadow Lightning Smash]>

<Ding. 1 Level 40 Water Drake killed>

<10000 Experience points have been rewarded>

The black furry wolf revealed a small content smile at the sight of the generous experience points which was almost as much as the quest reward itself.

[I still need the rift crys….] She then fell right on top of the drake as well with a low thudding sound. Only Coco’s purring sound echoed at the distance.

The small cat could sense Qin Hua’s distress and waddled slowly towards the two unconscious figures. Her eyes immediately became anxious after seeing Qin Hua like this and especially after seeing a giant dead beast.

She looked extremely fearful, nevertheless, she padded forward and started repeatedly casting heals on the wolf.

Meow. Meow. Meow. Only the meowing sounds echoed in the empty cave tunnel.

After several minutes, Qin Hua finally stirred awake. She opened her eyes and saw the drake’s dead body, its head completely bald and mangled. She sighed in relief. The fight was over.

She then turned, only to stare directly into the pair of strange slit-like eyes that met her and for a second, she froze, immediately jolting upright to stand in high alert.

Another beast was here? Qin Hua blinked, her mind spinning fast.

Standing right in front of her or rather on top of her and now pushed aside was an unfamiliar beast, but surprisingly it greeted her with an innocent sweet happy smile.

[What the…  Who is… Coco?] Qin Hua’s jaw dropped on the floor.
