Reincarnated as a Dog with System Novel

Chapter 24 - Rat Vs Qin Hua!

Qin Hua momentarily froze at the sight of the huge red-eyed rat-like animal that was clearly several times bigger than a normal rat.

Perhaps it was less scary to a normal human being but to the Qin Hua right now, it looked gigantic, almost as if it was the same size as her.

<Ding. Battle mode activated>

<Player vs Player Quest: Defeat the mutated rat>

<Reward: 200 Experience points>

The system notifications snapped her out of her trance and Qin Hua quickly muttered without missing a beat. [Inspect]

Almost at the same time, the rat got over its surprise as well and pounced on Qin Hua, baring its huge teeth and claws at her.

<Ding. Mutated Rat; Level 2>

[Whaaaat? You are just level 2??? What’s with your attitude, you rat bastard??]

After seeing the stats, Qin Hua now more confidently faced the rat, meeting its attack head-on or rather, she head-butted the animal directly.

She hadn’t picked a fight with the mana zombies earlier because all of them were weirdly quiet as if they were hibernating or something, and she didn’t want to start a chain reaction, sending all the zombies in the apartment complex into a frenzy.

But since this rat dared to attack her first, of course, she wouldn’t let this chance slip by.

[Let’s finish this fast before the damned guy calls for backup!] Qin Hua hurried, the memory of the small mound of rats still fresh in her brain.

After the head butting, both the rat and Qin Hua didn’t wait and started attacking each other in a frenzy.

The rat opened its mouth intending to take a big juicy bite out of her and she as well mirrored its action revealing her canines.

Leech bite!

Nibble!

Qin Hua managed to bite it twice before the rat pulled away, unable to land its attack. Since her agility was higher than the rat, the fight was pretty much a piece of cake for her.

Blood dripped out of its back where Qin Hua had torn off a huge chunk of flesh and the rat looked enraged, shrieking loudly.

[Damn you! Don’t you dare wake up the others!]

She charged towards the rat again to finish it once and for all, when she noticed its eyes turning a brighter red.

Suddenly, the rat managed to dodge her attack, its speed almost the same as hers, and came back at her, aiming for her throat.

Qin Hua immediately dodged the incoming attack by blending into a nearby shadow, leaving the monster extremely confused.

It spun its body around because it could clearly still sense her and smell her and when its back was facing towards her, Qin Hua leaped out again to bite it in the same wound and this time completely tearing it apart. Her Level 5 strength was not a joke.

<Congratulations. Player vs. Player quest is complete>

<200 Experience points have been rewarded>

[Fu Fu Fu! Aren’t I awesome! You rats better scram the next time you see me!] Qin Hua celebrated her first solo kill by jumping around up and down in excitement.

Fighting back like this and not feeling helpless was truly exhilarating!

[Oops! I should head back now before the others realize that I am missing.]

She quickly tried to lick and clean her mouth covered by the blood of the rat, when she noticed something glittered inside the dead body beside her.

It was a small white spherical orb.

Qin Hua used her teeth to carefully grab the orb and tear it away from the rat’s flesh, but she inadvertently bit it, making the orb break and dissolve like candy inside her mouth.

Woof! Cough! Cough! She tried to spit it out but it was already gone.

[NooO!] Her eyes widened and before she could ask the system if she had eaten something weird or poisonous, a wave of energy swept through her body and a small notification popped up.

<Ding. Agility +1>

[Ahhh~~] Qin Hua grinned, realizing that this was something beneficial and not poisonous. Perhaps farming for white orbs like this was the key to become stronger and deal with this new world!

She wondered if the rest of the monster meat gave out stats like this as well?

But she didn’t have the time to eat it now and she didn’t have the skill points to purchase the spatial bag yet, so she could only leave it behind and quickly run back to the apartment where the rest of the group was resting.

Qin Hua stealthily slipped back into the apartment and then looked around to see the occupants still dozing off including Xu Meilin.

[Phew! I made it!]

She was about to jump on Su Yan and wake him up, as these idiots were sleeping without realizing the beehive they were trapped in when suddenly she thought of something else.

The zombie’s corpse! Does it also have a white orb??

She quietly slipped into the shadow under the door, entering the bedroom, and saw the zombie’s almost mashed-up corpse on the floor.

Its upper body was still somewhat intact and Qin Hua started tearing it apart and before long, a small white orb came into her view.

[Bingo! I knew it! Woof! Ok, now time for the second part of the plan.]

She turned the head around so that the orb was clearly visible and then started barking loudly.

Woof! Woof! Woof!

Woof! Woof! Woof!

And the very next second, everybody in the house woke up with a jump!

“What? What? What?” Lu Chen screamed, while Su Yan muffled a yawn and stood up. “Little White?” He looked around to see that the puppy was missing or rather it was barking from the other side of the bedroom.

“Wasn’t the bedroom door closed? How did she get in?” Alex as well got up and stretched.

Xu Meilin, on the other hand, darted her eyes here and there nervously, hoping that the guys wouldn’t realize that she had slept off completely during her watch.

She didn’t mean to but somehow it had happened. It was not like she could take it back now!

Luckily for her, Qin Hua barked again, instantly attracting all the attention and Su Yan quickly ran over to open the bedroom door, worried if something had happened.

Lu Chen, as well, stuck close to him and the two of them stared at Qin Hua dumbfoundedly as they opened the door and saw the sight that was waiting for them!
