Puff!—Swish!—Ping!
Three successive sounds directly resounded, all of which sounded completely different. The first one came from the chop. The second one was from the sword, snapping from the impact. The wooden sword couldn’t withstand the power of Long Haochen’s attack and snapped from the middle. Fortunately, it wasn’t completely divided into two parts, or else the upper part may have flown towards him and hurt him.
The last sound was that of the collision with the stone bead. While he was still in the middle of his motion, Long Haochen clearly saw that the bead had impressively bounced up to the twenty-fifth division, the highest one!
Is this for real? It was. The fact that the wooden sword had snapped like that proved it. Balza once told him that the wooden sword they used could bear, at most, the twentieth spiritual energy level.
Long Haochen didn’t have a lot of knowledge in regard to knights, but the fact that, in an evening, he improved from his state of Knight Squire of the first step to become a Knight Squire of the second step made him very shocked and pleasantly surprised.
“Hm?”
Then Long Haochen came back to his senses. Uttering a quiet noise, he turned his head around subconsciously, and was shocked to discover that, without his noticing, a middle-aged man was right behind him.
Long Haochen was surprised, but not scared at all. Instead, he was curiously looking at him.
The middle-aged man had a tall and thin stature, black hair, black pupils, handsome looks, and bright eyes. It cannot be said that he looked eminently talented, but he definitely looked dignified.
After showing a moment of surprise, the middle-aged man quickly came back to his senses, wrinkled his brows and looked back at Long Haochen.
“Who are you?” Long Haochen asked, full of curiosity.
The middle-aged man answered with a faint voice, “You just passed the Knight Squire test yesterday; so, starting today, I am your new Instructor. You can call me Teacher Xingyu.”
Long Haochen hesitatingly said, “But, this is the first time I’ve met you.”
Xingyu faintly said, “You are called Long Haochen. You are nine years old this year, and your mother is called Bai Yue, am I right?”
Long Haochen nodded.
Xingyu’s stare suddenly sunk down. “Then, wait for Balza and we will see.”
After he said that, he suddenly stopped speaking and stared at a certain direction, with his lips slightly sulking.
After a little time, rapid footsteps could be heard and Long Haochen saw Balza running towards them at a fast pace. His face looked greatly shocked and respectful.
“Hello, Instructor.” Long Haochen immediately presented his Knight’s salute to Balza as he saw him arrive.
Strangely enough, Balza didn’t return the salute as usual. Instead, he hurriedly went in front of Xingyu and respectfully said, “Senior.”
Xingyu nodded, “Tell him that I am his new Instructor.”
“Right.” Balza hurriedly turned towards Long Haochen and said, “Senior Xingyu comes from Haoyue City’s Knight Hall and, from today onwards, he will be your Knight Instructor for the next three years. You will listen to every order he gives you. Senior Xingyu is a Genuine Knight.”
“Yes, sir.” Long Haochen politely answered. In fact, he had no idea about what the difference was between a Standard Knight and a Genuine Knight. He simply knew that since he’s his new instructor, he had to practice with him.
“Teacher Xingyu.” As he thought about that, he kindly saluted Xingyu. Long Haochen was truly far more mature than the others that were the same age, and more steady, as well.
“En,1 we have to go.” Xingyu said that as he grabbed Long Haochen by the hand and headed for the entrance to Odin Hall. Before he stepped forward, his obscure gaze stayed fixed on Long Haochen’s beautiful face, showing an upset face.
When they exited Odin Hall, Long Haochen couldn’t help asking, “Teacher Xingyu, shouldn’t we stay here to practice?”
Xingyu replied, “This place isn’t suitable.”
Affected by Xingyu’s cold expression, Long Haochen didn’t dare to ask him any further.
Balza’s gaze was directed towards their figures as they left; he was shocked and said aloud, “Doesn’t that Senior know his own status? For him to send his greetings to someone like me… To be so powerful, he must at least be an Earth Knight. No, maybe he is a Radiant Knight? Heavens!”
As Xingyu was taking Long Haochen away from Odin Town, Long Haochen suddenly felt a surge of warmth. A simple and honest feeling came from Long Xingyu’s hand, and, in the next moment, a strange scene occurred.
Everytime Xingyu’s tiptoes touched the ground’s surface, they would cross at least thirty-three meters2 and, after a few breaths, Odin Town was already far from sight.
For Long Haochen, this traveling speed was incredible. It could be described as, “as swift as the wind and as quick as lightning.” All Haochen could do was strongly grip Xingyu’s hand, for fear of otherwise falling.
They passed through the place where Long Haochen picked the edible wild herbs in the forest, and climbed a mountain peak that was in the same direction. Long Haochen was familiar with this place; it was where he grew up, after all. The mountain was called, by the people from Odin Town, Odin Mountain. But before the mountain, there was a forest where wild beasts would often appear, and sometimes even magical beasts. Therefore, few people go there. He also went to the foot of Odin Mountain half a year ago out of curiosity. There, he discovered a famous wild beastkin, but he ran away, frightened, upon seeing it. From that day onwards, Long Haochen never penetrated the forest so deeply again, not to mention Odin Mountain.
“Teacher, there are wild beasts here and maybe even magical beasts!” Long Haochen reminded him with good intentions.
Xingyu looked like he heard him, but went even faster, and started to ascend Odin Mountain. Even during the process of climbing the mountain, his speed never decreased. The scenery quickly passed by as they were brushed by strong winds and their hair dispersed.
Odin Mountain was not very high, just 666 odd meters.3 Only after a little while did they arrive at the summit.
Three log cabins appeared before Long Haochen’s line of sight. They didn’t have courtyards, just three solitary log cabins; however, they looked brand new. They were clearly built recently.
When they arrived at the log cabins, Xingyu stopped moving, then led Long Haochen to the biggest one that was in the middle.
They pushed on the door and entered. The log cabin had a thin timber section and emitted a strange smell, but not an unpleasant one. On the contrary, it emitted a sweet smell. The central log cabin was the biggest, but the inner rooms had a simple layout. There was only a wooden bed, a wooden desk, and two wooden chairs. As simple as that, but still more than Long Haochen’s home.
“Sit.” Xingyu pointed to a chair and pulled out the other one to sit on.
Long Haochen sat down. Although he’s young, he could feel that his teacher was quite formidable. He was quite nervous, but somewhat excited at the same time.
“Tell me what happened to you yesterday. Why did your spiritual energy level increase so much?” Xingyu calmly asked. His face was expressionless, but from Long Haochen’s point of view, his words were filled with an invisible pressure.
“What happened yesterday was…” Long Haochen didn’t feel like he had anything to hide, so he told him everything that happened at once.
During the whole time he was listening, Xingyu only wrinkled his face once, slightly, but, except for that one time, his expression didn’t change at all.
