Secret Killer Novel

Chapter 22 - (Not) An Accident

Leon took out a pair of gloves from his packet and wore them. He always made sure to take a pair of gloves with him in case he needed to do something.

He grabbed the metal rod from the side and slammed it on the counters as he walked closer to the guard.

“Out of 253 rooms in this university, you chose to come in this one, the chemistry laboratory,” Leon scoffed and walked forward. “Why are you people so predictable? Why are you so dumb?”

It wasn’t as though they were dumb. Leon was simply smarter than everyone else. With the help of his perfect memory combined with his superhuman capabilities, Leon was unstoppable.

Leon hadn’t fully realized the true potential of his superhuman abilities yet. However, he was indeed aware that he was not a normal human anymore. He ate more than average. He slept more than usual, and his senses were sharper than that of ordinary people. If Leon truly began to use his superhuman power at its full potential, he might become an inevitable threat to the entire world.

However, using his superhuman powers also had side effects. He needed a long rest after using his abilities, and if he didn’t rest, he would pass out at a random time at an unexpected place. If he didn’t feed himself, then the monster inside him would go crazy and do anything to sate its hunger. If he forced himself, then it might affect his memories too. He would forget things and lose his sanity, although he would remember everything as soon as he became sane again, thanks to his perfect memories.

In brief, his superpowers also brought risks, so he couldn’t use them all the time, at least for now.

Leon made his own motto inspired by a superhero movie after realizing his powers: ‘With great powers, comes great opportunity.’

“Opportunity to do everything that I ever wanted,” Leon laughed out loud.

After realizing that he had nowhere else to run or hide, the guard began to cry. Leon smirked after seeing that and remarked, “That won’t help you.”

The guard bowed down in front of Leon and begged for mercy. “Please let me go. I won’t tell anyone, and I will even delete the footage. Just let me go!” he wailed.

Leon raised his brows and asked the guard with a curious look on his face: “Tell me one reason to let you go.”

“I will delete all the evidence!” the guard shouted loudly but kept his head on the floor.

“I can do that too.” Leon crouched down on the floor and grabbed the man’s face with his hand. He kept the iron rod in his other hand on his shoulder and asked, “Tell me a valid reason.”

After a brief moment, the guard uttered, “I have a family.”

“No shit, Toretto.” Leon stood up and threw the metal rod in the corner. “Alright, you can go.”

The guard looked up at Leon with a surprised look on his face. He sighed in relief and said, “Thank you!” He stood up after saying, “I won’t tell anyone about this!”

He stared at Leon for a while and slowly walked to him. When he reached Leon, he began to run, but as he was running, Leon tripped the guard using his leg, and the guard fell hard on the floor with his face first.

“Of course, you won’t tell anyone.” Leon spilled the bottle filled with 96% concentrated hydrochloric acid on the man’s face, and it melted his brain and face inside out. Leon spilled some more even though the guard was already dead.

“I said you can go, but I never said I will let you go,” he sneered sinisterly.

After that, Leon made a trail of acid on the floor and smashed the bottle on the floor at some distance from the guard’s corpse. Upon looking at the scene, it seemed as though the guard tripped while carrying the bottle and ended up spilling the acid on himself by accident.

Leon glanced around the laboratory and spotted two cameras in two corners. ‘As expected.’

“Now then, let’s go delete all the evidence before it’s too late.” Leon quietly left the room and kept the door half-opened on purpose because if he had closed the door and the body was found inside the locked room, it would be obvious that it wasn’t an accident but a murder.

Leon also unlocked the other door of the room that he had locked to trap the guard. Then, he casually made his way to the monitoring room without anyone noticing him.
