Nine rising stars gathered. Each had a different dao, hence a unique aura.
Thirteenth Prince of the dragons stood to the north – the most prestigious position.
Feiyun stood opposite him to the south. Phoenix Goddess was to his left but kept a distance.
Busi Butai positioned to the east, posing with his Heavenly Destroyer. Monstrous sacred strands of energy circled him.
Ox-dragon Sacred Descendant occupied the west, still maintaining his demon form.
Four more rising stars took the rest of the spots, forming a circular pattern. Among them was a beauty in green. Her long hair fluttered and covered her slender neck. Her eyes were as gorgeous as apricot blossoms. Not a single blemish could be found on her fair skin.
Her aura and physical features weren’t inferior to Phoenix Goddess’.
“Qingyi!” Feiyun recognized her – the woman in blue who was Lotus Saint’s younger sister. She was a pseudo-saint back then and far stronger now. [1]
She was a bamboo demon but only gained human form recently. This was when the age counting started, thus she was qualified to be a rising star.
She glanced at Feiyun before landing not far to his left without saying anything.
Busi Butai sat on the ground, looking like a bare-chested Buddha: “Shall we discuss worldly events, the saint laws, or heavenly techniques? Perhaps a talk on the myriad battlefield?”
He stared at Thirteenth while speaking, clearly asking for his opinion. After all, dragons were simply too strong and Thirteenth had the most authority here.
“We dragons have the most saint laws and know heavenly techniques by heart, there is no need to talk about either one. As for the myriad battlefield, it has been around since time immemorial its existence certainly has merits.” Thirteenth said.
He felt annoyed because Busi Butai brought up heavenly techniques. Not long ago, they lost to the phoenixes in this competition and had to hand over their Myriad Beast Diagram.
This humiliating loss blemished their immaculate history.
Nevertheless, they only handed the main principles of the bestial technique over to the phoenixes. They even modified it and kept the true essence.
The phoenixes knew this and changed the name to Myriad Beast Physique, publicly telling everyone about the dragons’ dirty play.
Although other participants thought the dragons were petty, they didn’t dare to make a big deal of this.
Ever since then, the dragons never agreed to another discussion on techniques, not wanting another repeat.
“Then what do you think we should discuss?” Feng Feiyun said.
“The current situation, in particular the foreign invaders and the incoming calamity. Don’t feign ignorance here or be too afraid to speak.” Thirteenth said.
A few rising stars’ expression changed upon hearing these words. Despite the secretive nature of the disaster, the rising stars were successors of the various races and had saints as their backers.
Saints had powerful awareness and perception, capable of reading the past and the future to a certain extent. Therefore, a future calamity couldn’t hide from them.
“The calamity will destroy everything yet we know so little about them. Each race has different intelligence regarding these invaders, why not share them during the conference?” Thirteenth said.
“I agree, the calamity is inevitable but the more we know, the better we can deal with it. Our nine races shall become the strongest afterward.” Ox-dragon Sacred Descendant said.
Feiyun had a smirk on his face and Thirteenth noticed: “Feng Feiyun, you disagree?”
“Is the goal only to strengthen our races in preparation for the calamity? Why not unite everyone and defeat the invaders?” Feiyun responded.
“Are you aware of how strong the invaders are? Our continents were led by the grand saints and we still lost eight. Now, we are one-tenth the strength at best, the focus is to survive and maintain our bloodlines.” Ox-dragon said.
“Might as well dig a pit and hide then.” Feiyun said.
“The saints will be the ones to make the decision, we just need to exchange information to improve our understanding of the invaders.” Phoenix Goddess said.
“To make it fair, each of us should reveal what we know. The one with the most important piece of information will be the winner and accept the mysterious prize.” Ox-dragon said.
“It’s an interesting proposal, the rewards have always been generous. I believe a saint artifact was a prize once. As for this time, humans are giving out a kalpa medicine, more than six billion years old. It’s more precious than a regular saint artifact.” Busi Butai said.
Only a few existed in West Bull. The reason why humans were so generous was due to their attempt to reach the immemorial level during this conference.
The bigger the reward, the more proof of their strength. How could others accept their might and authority when they had nothing to show?
The triumph-fish used a saint artifact as a reward during a particular conference, successfully becoming an immemorial race afterward.
“The issue is there are no criteria to judge the importance of the information. There needs to be a judge.” Qingyi said.
“You need not worry, last-gen supremes are observing our conference, they will be fair.” Busi Butai said.
“Then I shall start, don’t be scared now. Our saint saw the future, a destruction of West Bull and all races.” Ox-dragon said: “The future cannot be changed, Feng Feiyun. It is not that we do not wish to fight, it is already hopeless like throwing eggs at a boulder.”
Everyone had a dark expression after hearing this. Although the future was full of potential and unknowns, saints could calculate the most likely outcome. History has also proved their accuracy.
Feiyun closed his eyes and took a deep breath and remained calm – something he couldn’t do in the past. His mental state had improved dramatically in recent times.
“I will reveal what we, the black tortoises, know.” Another rising star added: “Not long ago, our ancestor returned from outer space and brought back the corpse of an invader. They look identical to humans.”
All eyes were on Feiyun afterward.
“Don’t misunderstand, I’m not accusing humans of being foreign invaders. Our ancestors calculated and believed they are just like us, cultivators in this grand universe. They are invading to gain more resources and to turn us into subjects. We do the same to closer planets.” The guy continued.
The group pondered quietly. Given the cosmic scales, there were certainly other cultivators around. West Bull might only be a tiny corner in the grand scheme of things.
Competition for resources was always fierce and ruthless. One could kill friends and family members for treasures, let alone those from other planets. The invaders most likely had no problem with massacring all of West Bull.
