Emergency news spread quickly throughout the entire land of the Khalodian Empire. People who first thought of it as a drill began to grow in fear. The empire’s capital had become empty and people began to leave for their homes.
“What is going on?”
Reporter Benjamin Roden, who worked for one of the best newspaper companies in Khalodian, the Brixon Times, seemed to be worried.
“I don’t know! But there is a war going on! The government is announcing the marshall law! It means it is a big war, my friend.”
Raul was a friend and a rival but while Benjamin became grim, Raul didn’t seem to be that worried.
‘Well, I suppose…’
It was easy to see why Raul wasn’t worried. They were talking about the Khalodian Empire that was led by the legendary War-God himself.
“Everything seems to be falling in accordance with the war-prep manual though.”
“Yeah, it’s amazing.”
Benjamin nodded at Raul’s words. Everyone had returned to their homes already. They were now waiting for the government’s official announcements.
“Who are we fighting anyway?” Raul asked curiously.
“Raul, I know we will win, but shouldn’t you be more serious about this? This is a war we’re talking about.”
“I know! I mean… yeah, I’m sorry. But it’s just too foolish! Why would anyone want to wage a war against us? Don’t you think so?”
That’s when reporters from another company, Berend Daily, came over. They were all gathering up to share any information they had between them.
“Hey! Anyone know what’s going on?”
“There’s a war… right?”
“That’s all you know?”
Reporters began speaking when a middle aged reporter named Jon spoke out.
“I actually do have something…”
“Shit, Jon! Come on! Spit it out!”
“I’ll buy you a beer!”
“…It’s at the Gate. The war’s at the Gate.”
“What?!”
“No way!”
Everyone was shocked. The Gate was the center of trading now. It was only for a short time of 1 year, but the profit coming in from the Gate Trade was enormous.
“But how? That place is filled with the strongest army of the Empire! No one can dare to start a war there!”
“That can’t be true. There’s no one left who can wage war against Khalodian’s strongest army.”
Jon shook his head but couldn’t say it out aloud. He couldn’t even believe the information he heard.
‘But an alien species…? Can it be true?’
He couldn’t say it because he himself couldn’t believe it. That’s when an official from the government began to go up on the stage at the city square. The announcement was going to be made.
“Citizens of the Empire. Our Empire is being attacked by an unexpected enemy from the new dimensional Gate which has opened in multiple areas. We are declaring war against these invaders and…”
Everyone became dumbfounded at the announcement.
