After getting the pilot’s weapons, Luke also went to check the fallen chopper, but pretty much everything there was destroyed. Besides, Luke didn’t have much time to look for other things since he could hear the sound of Corrupt Crows approaching yet again.
“Man… I really wanted that Gatling gun,” Luke said.
Killing those giant birds with grenades would be easy, but making so much would only cause trouble again. Now that Luke thought about it, he wondered if grenades could work alongside Weapon Augmentation. Instead of weapons, they were more like projectiles…
Nevertheless, Luke prepared himself to face the three crows with a frown on his head. He was in a bad mood due to the incident with the pilot… so he wanted some minutes of peace for the first time on that day. Amanda and Celia joined him since it would be better if the monsters focused on them instead of the others, and they noticed that Luke was in a sour mood.
The monsters tried to hit Luke, who seemed the most dangerous one of the group, with their wind attacks. However, Luke ran around the area and dodged them. While they were strong, Luke knew that they could only use long-ranged attacks for long, so he waited patiently until they ran out of mana. However, before that, Amanda and Celia attacked the monsters with their ice arrows. The damage started to pile up, so the monsters got impatient a lot sooner than before. Two of them began to fly to attack them, and the group wouldn’t have time to stop those, so Luke pointed the machine gun toward them and pulled the trigger. Since they flew in a straight line and were so close to them, Luke easily hit their heads and even their eyes. After using half of the magazine, he killed those two.
“I guess bullets aren’t that useless yet…” Luke thought.

As soon as those two fell, the remaining one charged toward Luke, but that pattern was so dumb that he felt like yawning. Luke didn’t find motivation even to jump, so he just waited for the right moment and then kicked the monster’s beak with all his might. While that hurt like hell, it stopped the monster’s charge and gave him the chance to attack the monster’s head with his rapier.

“We are leaving,” Luke declared after confirming that the monsters didn’t drop anything.
After that incident, the whole group felt like taking a short break. They were tired and hungry as well, so they welcomed the break. Once they returned to Luke’s house, they began to assault the fridge while Luke headed toward his old room. He didn’t feel like eating something. He just needed a moment to clear his head.
“There are tons of experience points and gold coins to be gained out there…” Shalia said.
“He has enough coins to buy something decent in the shop, so he might as well use this moment to rest before returning to the fight,” Rina said. “How inconsiderate can you be?”
“The shop only stays open for one hour, so he might as well get as many things as he wants and need,” Shalia added.
Luke ignored the argument between those two and closed his eyes to rest. He didn’t imagine things would turn that way so soon… where he was forced to take someone else’s life. Unlike pretty much everything else, that wasn’t fun. Luke could ignore the fact that most of the zombies were human beings whose corpses would rot or be eaten by other creatures in the open since they couldn’t be helped. No one would have the time or the resources to bury them all, still…
“What a pain…” Luke thought. “Why do I have to feel like this because of some assholes?”
Most likely, that incident wasn’t over. Most military choppers used in special operations like that have cameras, so Luke’s actions have been recorded. Leaving the city now won’t solve all of his problems… In the end, after dealing with his anger a little bit, Luke managed to take a quick nap, but Rina and Shalia woke him up around midnight. He didn’t even have to ask why. A new screen appeared before him, after all.
Weapons
Armor
Accessories
Consumables
Skill Books
“Skill books are too expensive for you right now, and while consumables aren’t exactly expensive, they are relatively easy to find,” Rina said. “You should ignore those options for the time being.”
“Is that so…” Luke rubbed his chin thoughtfully.
“You should talk with those slowpokes. I have the feeling that they will end up buying a lot of useless stuff,” Shalia said.
“Well, that is their problem,” Luke shrugged. “We might be working together for the time being, but I have a feeling that this won’t work for long. They might be tagging along with me for whatever reason, but I don’t want to fill my head with worries about their actions. I would rather focus on making sure that I can survive most situations.”
“I guess that is the smartest thing to do,” Shalia said and then approached Luke’s ear to whisper. “You are starting to understand that naïve thinking won’t help you, Luke. How about we take the next step that will benefit both of us?”
“What a thirsty and disgusting creature…” Rina said.
“We can talk about this later… right now, I have to check what the best thing that I can buy here,” Luke said.
Luke checked the weapons section, and he confirmed that he could buy all the weapons he had already obtained for fifty gold coins each… the cost seemed a bit too high for Luke’s tastes, but fortunately, he had three hundred. He wouldn’t be able to buy a full set of weapons, shields, and armor, but he probably could buy a decent weapon with all that, one that surpassed all the others had before.
