The Ancient Genes Novel

Chapter 11 - Four Tyrants

Listening to him, Max felt curious about those so-called Big Shots.

wasn’t that a bit too dramatic? he thought these things only happened in manga and anime.

Obviously, he didn’t like that stuff, it was because of Mark that he started watching it. He was a nerd and his only friend.

Anyway, then he really wanted to dig those Big Shots out.

he looked at Axle and asked calmly, “So, who are these Big Shots?”

“There are quite a few.”

“But the nastier ones are the 4 Tyrants. Never get involved with them. They are just a bunch of self-centered bastards,” He said, as a fierce gleam flashed in his eyes.

“There are so many students in the Academy, how can they behave so arrogantly and get away with it?” Max asked in bewilderment.

“Let me ask you, which is the strongest organization in the Continent of Mistellin right now?” he suddenly asked, changing the topic.

“Huh?” Seeing his confused expression, he spoke again.

“Just answer me.”

“Mage Association or the Guilds’ Union.” he replied without batting an eye. After all, that was a common known fact.

“Why do you say that?” He asked with a smile as his brows arched upwards.

“Isn’t that obvious? They command a huge number of mages along with some legendary figures in their ranks,” Mark replied, rolling his eyes at him for asking an obvious question.

Letting out a short laugh at his expression, he asked, “Then would you be willing to offend them?”

“Is something wrong with you-” Before he could even complete his sentence, axle interrupted him.

“See , it’s obvious, that’s the reason, no one dares to go against them.” He answered him casually, waving his hands sideways.

“You..you…mean…the..y..” Max stuttered after he got a hint and sweat started to form on his forehead.

Looking at his reaction, Axle laughed “Don’t worry, calm down, you haven’t offended anyone yet. Anyway, I will give you an introduction, listen well and remember to never cross paths with them.”

After that he switched on his laptop and continued with a deep smile, “The first one is one of the two campus belles, Lisa Walker. I know a bit about her from the rumours, she has hospitalized quite a number of boys in our high school days. Now nobody dares to make a move on her. If you piss her off, she would remember you forever and make you suffer endlessly.” He saw a familiar face on the laptop. A black haired beauty in a white dress.

He paused and looked around as if he was checking to ensure that no one was around. Then, he flicked his fingers and runes started to appear on the walls of the room.

“Perfect, now let’s continue. I am going to share some insider information, so remember not to share it with anyone else or you will be in trouble.”

Max gulped at his warning, wondering if he should stay in the room or leave.

Before giving him any time to make a decision, axle dropped a bomb on him by whispering, “Lisa Walker is the daughter of the Mage king.”

Boom!

he felt his head bursting.

Fuck!

Why the hell is a figure like that in Arcane? Is this the capital? What in hell is the daughter of the Mage Association’s Head doing here? Did Mr. Stark fooled me, what the hell is going on? He felt my heart rate increase and sweat started dripping off of his face.

As he approached his tolerance limit, the system’s skill calmed him down as a cool stream of air washed over his head.

“Obviously you can go ahead, if you are a Masochist. I mean, what can make you feel more bliss than being stepped upon by her. You might even get a chance to behold the sight of the forbidden garden.” As he spoke his eyes sparkled and a smile plastered on his face.

That guy would really get him into trouble. Hearing him, he could confirm one thing. That fatty was definitely better than him.

“I am not a Masochist,” Max replied, feeling ridiculous that he was even answering a question like that. He beckoned him to go on.

He continued with the second member on the list, “Eren John. I don’t know much about him personally, but the information says he is the son of one of the directors of the Academy. Unlike others, he doesn’t care about his image and openly bullies students and misbehaves with girls.” Max saw the face of that guy and the first thing which came to his mind was, “He is definitely a pervert.”

he noted his name in his mind, and decided to never cross paths with that bastard.

“This guy can still be considered good in front of the next one, James Ovens.” He switched the image and a picture of a guy with good features appeared. He appeared to have a strong build, and a face which seemed to be cut out of a fairy tale.

“Don’t judge him by his looks. He is a cruel and vicious person. The friend I mentioned earlier had offended him and paid the price with his life. He never shows mercy.” He said with his face twitching in anger and hatred.

“What! You say murder. How can that be possible?” Max asked in shock.

Even the manga and anime that he watched weren’t that extreme.

“Everything is possible, if you have power. That bastard can do anything as long as he does not leave any evidence, after all his father is the head of the Guild Union, Karl Ovens.”

Boom

he felt his head bursting, another monster figure.

‘What the hell is wrong with this place?’

Unable to hold himself, he asked Axle, “Why are such figures studying in Arcane? I thought the Magic Academy of the capital was the best Academy in the Continent.”

“Who knows, it was during the mid term of the first year of high school when these bastards started pouring out of nowhere.”

“Anyway, here is the last one. There are only rumors about him. Norek Blaze, He does as he wishes and nobody stops him, even the teachers for some reason turn a blind eye to this guy. Even the other 3 tyrants avoid crossing paths with him.”

Hearing his description, and seeing the face of a guy with a pretty face and short purple hair, he felt that that place was really messed up.

‘Should I get transferred?’ While Max was busy with my thoughts, Axle spoke, “There are several others in this list too. But they are not considered tyrants because they are not as extreme as these four. He introduced a bunch of people in which he saw three familiar faces: Wilson, August, and the girl with blonde hair, Elly Lorenz, whom he saw a few hours before.

After talking for about an hour, Max got up from the chair, thanked him for his help and refused his invitation to watch Mahou Shojou Mio-chan together.

he walked out of the room, but before closing the door, a thought struck him and he asked Axle, “Hey, I didn’t think about it, but where did you get such detailed information? Don’t tell me you are also one of the big shots.”

“Ha..ha..” he laughed while replying, “Do I look like one?”

“You heard August, right, the power of my formations.”

“You! You better stay away from me!” Max replied while closing the door.

Looking at the closing door, Axel clenched his fist.

‘That silhouette is too similar to him. I will definitely take revenge for you, brother. And I will make that bastard, James, beg for death.’

Axel had a twin brother, he resembled Max in a few aspects. His gaze was always filled with a determination to achieve something.

They were always together, until Axel awakened early in the first year of high school as a variant. His element showed an extreme degree of affinity with formations, and the Academy decided to raise him on a scholarship.

He started having extra classes on formations and the distance between Axel and his brother increased. He didn’t notice anything weird with his brother at that time.

But he was wrong.

Beep!

The sound of the message pulled Axel out of his thoughts and he picked up his phone.

Looking at the message, Axel realised that the time of his revenge was drawing close.

Getting into his room, Max layed down on his bed. Thinking of his oncoming days, he let out a sigh.

‘I wonder what this semester will bring me to.’
