The Devil's Sweetheart Novel

Chapter 30 - Rotten Luck: Thank Heavens

Sitting in the living room, Devin was watching a football match over the TV. Despite his physical presence, mentally he was far far away. Away from someone, fidgeting whether she would at least talk to him tomorrow when he approached her. Never in twenty years of his existence, he has felt nervous to grab someone’s attention, even when he first posed for the camera, he did not even flinch or lose his tranquillity. Heartless woman! Attacking my heart viciously.

“Vincy, now you are also leaving without me? Will is out of the country, Jasper is busy. Now I have to be left alone.” Drew cried out in exaggeration.

“It’s just a day Drew.” Snapping out of his trance, he massaged his temples and looked at the intruder who has trespassed into his home to annoy him.

“But you are still going alone. You very well knew I love that place right.” He demanded opening his mobile to play a game.

“Aren’t you leaving home?” Knowing the reason, he still asked.

“No way I am leaving tonight. I have to give you a big send-off tomorrow.” He masked his lie without even looking and resumed playing the game.

“Why don’t you accept the truth that you are scared to go out.” He scoffed.

“I am not_”

A ringing mobile interrupted their thoughts and Devin gazed at his mobile. Seeing the contact name, he put aside the thought without even picking. Just then Drew also stopped his playing and peeked at his mobile. He snatched the mobile from his grasp and answered it without a second thought and even put in a loudspeaker mode.

“Vincy!!!!!!!! Drew informed you are in love. Is that true?” A loud screaming voice heard from the other end echoed into the living room. Drew widened his eyes and immediately turned off the loudspeaker mode. Meekly, he looked up to see the raging volcano shooting daggers at him. He cried! I have to see Wang Devin’s wrath today!

Devin closed his eyes in annoyance. He knew this loose tongue will vomit out after witnessing everything in the Azure hotel. In a rage, he walked out of the room when he clearly knew their chatting would never end for at least an hour. I will kick him out of the house today. Let him cry and beg!

“Will! You clearly made a promise to keep it as a secret.” Drew whispered yelled edging away to the other end before a kick would land on him.

“You know what? He laughed hysterically for a long time and said.” I even informed Jasper.”

“You, fabricator. I wish that annoying sister of yours threatens with your secret for eternity.” Drew rebuked annoyingly screaming out of his lungs.

“Don’t even talk about her. I don’t want my mood to go worse now.”

“Did she annoy you again?” He laughed in derision without even knowing he was scolding his friend a second before.

“Leave about that idiot. What about Vincy? Is he really in love?” He excitedly asked.

“Don’t mention her. She can see and talk with live ghosts. She has cast a spell on our friend.” Drew shuddered the moment he remembered her face. He was literally having a hard time sleeping for the last three days’ meeting of that witch.

“Get the holy water from uncle John and put it in on him.”

“I was also thinking the same.” He remarked. “And you get me the jacket I have sent you over a link. Don’t come back without that.”

“How many! Every day you see a new one and you straight away send it to me. How should I_”

Putting an end to the conversation, Devin snatched his mobile, he cut off the call startling both. He was working on his laptop when he suddenly remembered he has saved his little kit’s photo as a screen saver. He swiftly put down his work and returned to the room to grab it. If it fell into Drew’s eyes, he would not even bat an eye to spread it to the whole world, not that he minded. Until his sweetheart gives approval. Once that happens, he himself will flaunt to the entire world.

“Go and make a call on your own.” He yelled and walked into his bedroom.

“Good Night Sweetheart.” He gazed and thumbed her face with a warm smile anticipating their tomorrow’s encounter.

…..

“Leena! wake up! Your flight is in three hours. You still have to get ready and reach the airport.” Reese forcefully dragged her to the bathroom throwing a jug of cold water on her face.

The cold water startled the drowsy Leena and before she could kick Reese’s butt, she flew out of the room.

She freshened and walked out of the bathroom cursing Reese for booking an early flight when she clearly knew it would hardly take five or 6 hours to reach Seattle from Newyork. Last night, she had a hard time sleeping. Convincing her Francy had become a big headache on her, still, he was not listening to her pleas. Finally, she has to call her brother and requested his help. No. He literally made her beg and that idiot only budged in when she withdrew from threatening his secret. As if I will. Let him come back from Europe.

“Carrot I miss you. Torture Reese in my absence.” Leena cried and hugged her for nth time without even stepping out of the car. Carrot looked at her imaginary crocodile tears and sneered. She is clearly happy that she is going for a weak.

“Enough with your acting Leena!” Reese said.

“Hmph! Jealous fellows.” She declared and stepped out of the car. Once she was out both high fived for getting freed from this narcissist for a week.

The moment Leena entered into the airport, she could hear the loud cheers and commotion from fangirls screaming someone’s name. She couldn’t even get a peek, for the person was standing at a distance fully surrounded by the crowd.

“Show off! Can’t they stay low key like me.” She scoffed and went off.

Leena headed to the airline section, scanned her baggage. collecting her boarding pass, she headed to the gate for her flight’s announcement. An announcement was made twice. Despite the loud proclamation, she was still rooted in her seat, until she was given a final call. You should always make the latest entry Leena! Finally, she stood up.

Just after boarding the plane, Leena started searching her seat frantically. Damn! my eyesight! How did I forget to put my contact lens today! Not that she cannot read without them, all the distance things become a blur without them. Momentarily, the flight attendant approached and smiled when she recognized the supermodel. She smiled and guided towards her seat not before getting an autograph. She thanked her and edged towards her seat looking at the fellow traveler keenly.

Why does this hunk look familiar? Although he was gazing down working on the laptop, his unique sturdy build has etched into her memory just with the two encounters. In a dazed state, she was looking intently without even blinking her eyes and finally met his gaze when the person looked at her.

Both stared at each other perplexed without even taking their eyes off from each other.

‘Did I wake up on the wrong side of my bed again? My rotten luck.’

‘Should I thank heavens? Luck seems to be purely on my side.’
