Chapter 295 - Music

Evan headed toward the ravine and landed not far from the Emerald Hand temporary camp. He acted so that no one would notice him. Only then would he be able to execute his plan.

<They shouldn’t have noticed me, moreover a rock partially hides their camp. If I go this way, I can get into their base unnoticed.> Evan pondered.

As he walked, one of his eyes lit up, and he saw a very different picture. He was looking at the Emerald Hand camp from a bird’s eye view.

Before he landed, he let Reykar out of Nirvana and asked him to patrol the area.

Evan cast Raven’s Gaze and had a perfect view of every member of the Emerald Hand. Evan had all the information about their movements.

Some of the light mages noticed a monster flying near them, but they didn’t see anything unusual about it, so they decided not to pay attention to Reykar. There were many monsters in this area, and the best solution was to ignore them. Otherwise, a major battle might break out, which Emerald Hand didn’t need right now.

After about ten minutes, Evan was already approaching the cliff. He had to go around it and enter the temporary camp at the side where there weren’t many guards. He should not be prevented from doing what he intended.

Evan also considered the option of jumping off the cliff onto the temporary camp from above, but he knew that was a stupid idea. The camp was one hundred percent protected by several barriers, so doing such a thing would be no different than a fly flying into a spider’s web.

<At this point, my lifespan is 662 years, which is really a lot with all the casualties. I’m lucky that mages in this world live so long. Otherwise, I might not have made it out of some situations. It’s a shame that I can’t live forever. That would be true bliss, or maybe even a curse. Evan thought as he walked around the rock.>

After a couple of minutes, he saw the wooden walls of Emerald Hand’s makeshift camp, and at the same moment, he was spotted by one of the mages on the watchtower.

But he didn’t attack Evan. First, he had to figure out who was heading their way and that little lull in time Evan was going to take advantage of.

He had no more than thirty seconds, during which time the members of the Emerald Hand would know he was Evan Lynch.

Evan assumed that because of the recent battle at Stone Seeds and because Ein had managed to escape, he was already an enemy of every light organization.

Emerald Hand did know what Evan looked like, but they did not yet know that he had gone to the dark side of this world, for that day, Ein had not returned to the base of the Tears of Light and was missing. There was no one to tell the light organizations about Evan’s notoriety.

Evan cast Ghost Step and ran as fast as he could toward the camp.

Bam.

At the same moment, a purple beam and many sharp feathers flew into the barrier of the camp. Evan told Reykar to act as soon as Emerald Hand members spotted him. Evan wanted to use Reykar’s attack as a distraction and buy himself some time, and Evan succeeded.

“What? Why the hell did that bird decide to attack us? Kill it or chase it away, now!” Said a muscular man in a green robe.

He was one of the commanders in this temporary camp and was on stage – Two-Pointed Star.

“Roger that!” Several men responded and cast their spells.

Two swords created from fire flew toward Reykar. They passed through the barrier with no problem since it was one-way.

Reykar glanced at Evan and, realizing that his mission was already accomplished, abruptly flapped his wings and flew away. The force of his flap was great enough to push the flaming swords aside.

Emerald Hand thought the monster had retreated and it was just a surprise attack, and that was the end of it. But, they didn’t know that Evan was already close to the barrier around the camp.

Evan said quietly, “Sigil 67 Demon – Duke Amdusias, activation.

The next moment Evan’s consciousness was transported to Nirvana, where the demon he had summoned was already waiting for him.

Duke Amduasias strongly resembled a human, but with a few differences. He was tall, with long black hair and white eyes. On his hands and feet, he had long claws covered in a layer of darkness. The most notable detail of his appearance was the long horn in the center of his forehead, like a unicorn.

In his hands was a long, white flute on which he played a quiet melody.

Evan said, “I want my new friends to hear the most beautiful music playing in the bowels of hell. The price for this concert will be their lives!”

Duke Amduasias paid no attention to Evan for a while. He continued to play his flute and fill Evan’s Nirvana with a pleasant melody.

When Duke Amduasias finished playing the tune, he let go of the flute, and it slowly made its way toward Evan. Then the demon said, “I’m flattered you want to share my music with others. Fifteen Years.”

Evan immediately agreed. Compared to some of his victims, it wasn’t much at all. Last time for the power of King Belial, Evan had had to pay for a hundred years. But, he was still in the One-Pointed Star stage then, and the services of kings couldn’t cost little.

Duke Amduasias nodded, and the life force began to leave Evan.

The demon disappeared from Nirvana when it was over, and in Evan’s hands was a white flute. Evan didn’t know how to play a musical instrument, but he didn’t need to have such skills. This flute was born in hell and could produce melodies from hell itself with a simple blow of the wind.

By then, the members of Emerald Hand had spotted Evan and realized that he had not come with good intentions. But it was already too late.

Evan brought the flute to his lips and calmly began to play it.

Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.

At the same moment, the ground around the Emerald Hand’s temporary base trembled.
