After Evan tested the Blood Skeletons’ powers, he decided to learn more about another of their abilities, but he needed someone from outside the room to do so.
He went upstairs and called one of the girls over to him. Her name was Tia, and she had short black hair and blue eyes. Tia didn’t know why Evan needed her, so she was a little worried.
“What are you going to do to me?” Tia asked.
“Nothing of the sort.” Evan simply answered and summoned the two Blood Skeletons.
Tia flinched. She thought Evan would torture her or even kill her. For slaves, the fate of being killed by their master was not uncommon, cruelty notwithstanding.
“Don’t be so afraid, just not a big test. I still need you alive.” Evan said calmly, and his spatial ring lit up.
A simple dagger appeared in Evan’s hands, a weapon that couldn’t even be called a zero-grade weapon. At best, it was a very sharp kitchen knife.
Evan grabbed Tia’s hand and inflicted a deep wound on her palm. Tia wrinkled in pain but didn’t scream. She didn’t want to anger Evan by being in a situation like that.
Then Evan put the dagger away and looked at the Blood Skeletons, and said, “Heal her.”
The Blood Skeletons nodded, and one of them walked over to the girl. He grabbed her arm, and the bloody sheath headed toward the wound. When the skeleton’s blood made contact with the girl’s blood, it glowed brightly, and the deep cut began to heal before her eyes. In just a few seconds, the girl was healed.
<Hmm, as I supposed, wounds like these Blood Skeletons would heal easily, but what about fractures and other injuries?”> Evan thought and grabbed Tia by the little finger.
Crack.
Without any warning, he broke her finger, but Tia didn’t even feel a thing. She only realized what Evan had done when she saw the sagging finger and that she couldn’t move it.
Evan gave the command to the skeletons, and again the same thing happened, but with some differences. The skeleton’s bloody shell penetrated the flesh to heal the fracture. But, the skeleton was able to accomplish this task, albeit in a slightly longer period of time than before.
“Great.” Mumbled Evan, looked at Tia, and said, “You’re free.”
The girl nodded and quickly ran upstairs. Even though she was completely in one piece, in the end, she didn’t want to participate in any more such experiments.
After doing a few more small experiments, Evan learned the next second level spell. He decided to study Vortex Boots of Thunder. Evan was curious to see how mixed elemental spells differed.
<Hmm, it took me a month to learn the last spell plus some practice. Vortex Boots of Thunder is definitely the more difficult spell. Yeah, it does take more and more time each time. It’s frustrating>. Evan thought and opened the spell book.
To his surprise, he got it right the first time. Mixing the elements in a spell didn’t seem like such a complicated process, but Evan knew it was only a theory. The hardest part would be turning the mana into two different elements and working together.
“Okay, let’s get started.” Mumbled Evan and his Warp spun.
Mana was sent to his feet, and wind swirls appeared, as well as lightning discharges. But, in an instant, the spell was broken. Evan sighed and tried again, and then again and again.
Over time, he began to get better at it, but two months had passed by then. It wasn’t until the third month that he cast the spell for the first time successfully.
Evan made many mistakes, but he had the most trouble making wind and lightning become one.
He didn’t understand why, but the lightning and wind were created separately at first. Evan tried to connect them, but it didn’t work. But then Evan realized his mistake. He had to think of lightning and wind not as two different elements but as one whole. Only then could he give the spell the shape he wanted.
“Let’s see what this spell can do,” Evan muttered and cast Vortex Boots of Thunder.
Wind and lightning appeared at his feet and then turned into one. The two verses looked like boots around Evan’s feet.
He concentrated and took a step.
At the same moment, Evan’s silhouette blurred, and a moment later, he was on the other side of the practice area. In just one second, he had covered a distance of more than ten meters. What’s more, this spell also increased Evan’s fighting power.
He turned around and saw a black trail of lightning behind him, as if after a lightning strike.
Evan took another step and turned into a bolt of lightning, then another and another. In this way, he moved at breakneck speed around the training ground for about ten minutes. There were cracks in the sturdy, stone floor in some places.
But then Evan suddenly fell. He looked at his legs and realized he could barely move them. He felt as if he had been running continuously for over a week.
“Shit, that’s my maximum of ten minutes, and that’s considering my abnormal physical strength. At this rate, though, one minute would be enough to get me around the mountain. In most situations, three minutes would be enough for me, and I’d only get a little tired in that time.” Evan thought and swallowed the pill.
Then he got to his feet, rested a bit, and cast Vortex Boots of Thunder once more. This spell could be used not only to increase speed but also to attack.
Vortex Boots of Thunder could not increase the attack of Evan’s weapons or arms, but now the leg kicks were many times more powerful.
“I don’t usually use my legs very often in combat. Leg kicks are powerful but not as fast as my arms. But it looks like I’m going to have to change my fighting style a bit.” Mumbled Evan and walked over to the dummy.
Evan had spent a lot of money on this mannequin.. It was made up of a fairly strong material compared to the flesh of second rank monsters.
