The Kidnapped Bride Novel

Chapter 47 - No Explanation

In a few seconds, she slowly came behind the couch safely and looked behind her at Javier, who was still under the table.

She signaled him to follow her lead and in a similar manner, to crawl at the place so that they both could manage to go further from their position.

Javier was ready to take the step ahead and crawl by Jennifer by her side but stopped before two more gunshots were heard which made them super anxious.

Jennifer immediately moved back to the couch, with her heart thumping so loud. She clutched her heart in fear and closed her eyes to pray for everything to be alright. After all, she can’t lose her life at this time.

Though she was already in the safest option, with the shelter of the couch, her heart was anxiously waiting for Javier to come to her safely, otherwise, how was she going to cope up from here?

Just when she was immersed in chants, praying to God that everything is going to stop, she felt a hand next to her, hugging her shoulder.

Slowly and steadily, Jennifer opened her eyes and at the same time, her eyes widened and saw that on her left was Javier who somehow made his way to her, despite the shots and being especially unharmed.

“Javier..” she mumbled his name and a sigh escaped her mouth when she saw that no bullet hit him.

“Do not worry, I have seen many of the dangers in my life and this is not new. Let us go, we have to go to the basement.” That was the main aim that they had to achieve. Without giving it much thought, Jennifer nodded her head and they both started crawling through the messy floor.

Glasses were lying on the ground, broken frames were flattered all over the floor but that didn’t stop them from reaching the staircase without their enemy’s eyes being diverted.

Just when she was on the verge of reaching the staircase, Jennifer can’t help but feel she achieved some kind of trophy. She immediately stood up on her legs in excitement and was ready to run down in the basement but her carelessness was heavy to ignore

TUNG!

Another vase, near the stairs, fell on the ground when her elbow touched the vase which was present on the corner. The sound was hard to ignore and Javier yelled, “Jennifer! Don’t you understand my words?!? I told you to be careful and not.. let anything fall damn..”

He hurriedly ran to her side on his toes and before any shot could have been fired, he tangled their hands and made a run down the stairs at a high speed.

Jennifer almost felt that she would fell down any moment if Javier ran any faster. But all thanks to God, she was saved but behind her, she heard dozens of Guns being fired.

‘Shit! I attracted their attention…’ he would have eaten her alive but there was no time to blame or think about it once.

Just in a few seconds, they arrived in the basement where Javier unlocked the door with the passcode, and they both entered, closing the door safely, and fell on the ground, with their uneven breath.

“Javier… will they come behind us anymore?” Jennifer’s first question was to know what her mistake will result in? What will be the consequences

Javier’s head was against the door, while he sat on the floor with his entire face covered in sweat. “Definitely. Through this door is strong enough to hold us in.. but I believe we will have to leave this island very soon..”

Lowering her face, Jennifer replied, “Sorry… I never meant to. I thought.. we just reached the base and..”

“It was a mistake and I know. No need to feel guilty but save some energy because.. once we leave this house, it will be more and more difficult to survive if we are not energized.”

His stamina wasn’t low. Instead, because of the Intense training, he went through since he was a child, not a small fight or escaping can make him feel frightened. Yet, this was different.

This time he wasn’t alone to deal with killers, but Jennifer was also present under his care. He has no idea whose people are they, either Lucas or someone else but nevertheless to say, he has to take extra precautions and got any risk to safeguard themselves.

Jennifer timidly shook her head in agreement and didn’t say anything further. Her eyes averted to the small mattress that lay on the ground, a small window on the ceiling. With that, there was a cupboard which she noticed for the very first time, since the last time she wasn’t in the state to look around her surroundings.

“How are we going to leave here? If we step out of this room, they will fire upon us.” She was confused and passed him a questionable look.

“No. We can’t step out of this room at all. If we did, this will only result in more damage. Instead.. there is a secret passage, a door that will lead us out of this villa instantly.” This not only surprised Jennifer but she moved her hand to cover her mouth to not let any scream come out of her mouth.

“Don’t tell me…” she stopped in the middle to take a deep breath, “That… the secret door.. is an escaping door and will lead us to the trails behind?”

“Exactly.”

It wasn’t easy to accept her. Not because of the solution and how high technology it had but because “You kept me here despite knowing that I was trying to escape. Why?” Jennifer asked without beating around the bush straight to his face but he had no answers to give on her face.

He just shook his head and didn’t reply any further in her response. “Some things are better to be left unsaid, Jennifer. There are no explanations for some actions and… things aren’t easy as you consider them to be…”
