Chapter 20 – Life Wasn’t That Bad After All (4)
At the same time, while one of them was sound asleep, the other one had entirely too much on his mind.
Inside Hotel Dorsett, Chen Jing, Yan Shuyu’s previous superior, was sitting in the office, full of concerns.
She’s a senior manager. She has a family and two children to take care of. In a work environment that encourages training and delegation, she didn’t need to work the night shift. She had only worked a couple nights during the first few days that the big boss was staying at the hotel. When her two assistants seemed very competent, she gladly handed the responsibility over to them.
Who would have thought, Yan Shuyu, who looked like such a responsible individual, would be audacious enough to bed the big boss!
Only very few at the hotel knew about the story between the overbearing big boss and the charming female employee. That was because the boss’s personal assistant visited the security office first thing in the morning and took away the security footage.
It was just a small errand, yet Boss Zhou sent his personal assistant Louis to take care of it. The head of security was no idiot, so he immediately told his employees to keep their mouths shut. Knowing that Chen Jing was Yan Shuyu’s direct supervisor as well as the boss’s special guest room manager, the head of security was decent enough to give her a heads up about the incident.
Certain events in life, it was more troublesome knowing than not knowing. Chen Jing dare not have her employees work the night shift any more. Her other assistant, Xiao Lin, looked pretty competent as well, but who knows if she’d be the next Yan Shuyu? All in all, Chen Jing had decided to work harder herself in order to avoid any more “incidents”.
That being said, working the night shift was not a big deal. A bigger problem was what to do with Yan Shuyu? The gal has the courage to stab a hole in the sky but not the courage to face the consequences of her actions. She had went straight to Human Resource and resigned.
Manager Xu didn’t know the story and could handle the resignation according to the firm’s policy, but she didn’t dare to just let Yan Shuyu go. What if the big boss wanted to hold her accountable afterward? Or, if he felt like it wouldn’t be so bad to keep the relationship going for a while longer, only to find out that she had already let her go, then what?
The latter scenario wasn’t too bad, but what if it’s the first scenario? Chen Jing didn’t want to be the one who let the responsible party go and ended up being the punching bag herself!
Before she could sort it all out, she heard the doorman announcing through the intercom that Boss Zhou had arrived. Chen Jing quickly recollected herself and went out to welcome him.
The big boss seemed to be returning from another social event again. His ride tonight was a Rolls Royce. He got out of the car in full three-piece suit and carried with him a hint of alcohol smell. The smell of alcohol on him was smooth and slight intoxicating and was actually quite pleasing. Net worth of over hundreds of billions of dollars, handsome, and gentlemanly, no wonder Yan Shuyu couldn’t help herself – thought Chen Jing as the big boss nodded at all of them and said in a very friendly manner, “I came back a little late tonight. Sorry to keep you all waiting up for me.”
“No problem. This is our job.”
“Don’t mention it.” Everybody was pleasantly surprised and Chen Jing let out a sigh of relief to herself. The big boss seemed to be in good spirits. He must not be bothered by what happened the night before.
That’s great news. At least, she didn’t have to worry about him taking it out on her. Now she could just pretend that she had no knowledge of the incident.
