The Rise of the White Lotus Novel

Chapter 50 - Huh, They Did Connive...

“Ah,” Lexi was rendered speechless by her parent’s words. It not that it was the first time they admitted their wrongs, but even though they were disheartened by the fact that they failed to believe her changes, it’s not the reaction she was expecting if they knew what happened last night!

“But I’m still glad that you made it out from that place before the ruckus happened.” Her mother, Lillian Yang heaved a sigh of relief.

The reports about the whole chaos last night near the hotel where Lexi attended was all over the news. Upon hearing it, both husband and wife were worried sick and concluded that the reason for Ethan’s minor injuries was due to that after saving Lexi.

Hence, early in the morning just as they were about to wait for their daughter to come out, they bumped into Ethan who was walking back to the guest room where he stayed.

First, both mother and father yang were wary of Ethan but moreover, they were concerned about his health. After all, he needed rest as per the doctor’s advice.

However, the young master of the Lu family was stubborn in an amiable way thus, before they knew it, they were having breakfast as Ethan cracked a joke every once in a while and shared a few interests with Frederick Yang. Not only does he have a bright personality, but both Lillian and Frederick Yang perceived that he has a kind and humble heart as he explained what had happened to him last night. It didn’t even take him a complete meal to gain their hearts.

“Yes, if it wasn’t for her noble personality, I’m sure this wasn’t the only injuries I inflicted.” Ethan lowkey chimed in as he nodded solemnly.

Lexi darted her confused gaze on the three of them and could feel her face slowly distorting. ‘Are they conniving into something?’ She thought inwardly.

“Oh ho, you should disable your trust issues chu, and go with the flow, chu~!” Churu humored and sat on top of Lexi’s head. It was evident that she was satisfied with what she sees and Ethan’s sincere attempt to ease the worry of Lexi’s parents. Though she was uncertain what harmless lies Ethan Lu made up, she was sure that he meant no harm.

“Mom, Dad… it’s fine. After all the cleaning up from all the mess I made in the past, I fully understand your point. But,” Lexi paused and quickly glanced at Ethan, she doesn’t know but she felt awkward saying such things with another person around. Yet, since he’s there, she decided to heed him no mind.

“But, I am 100% serious when I said I wanted to change, for the better.” Thinking that Ethan was a nonexistent individual, Lexi’s gaze softened as she said those words to her parents. Her parents also affectionately smiled back at her with a nod.

Surely, this time, Frederick and Lillian Yang believed her without a doubt. They loved their daughter so much that they just don’t want her to take the wrong path she had taken in the past. Hence, they were quite harsh with her and the lingering doubts deep inside their hearts got the better of them.

The breakfast continued with a more lively atmosphere with Ethan’s presence. Observing the three of them, Lexi had a subtle smile on her face. This moment is one of the scenarios she always desired in the past; her beloved parents and the man she loved sharing and catching up over a meal.

She already had it all, hence, growing up loving Morris Liu to the ends of the world, she only wanted simple things like this. However, Lexi didn’t anticipate that the additional person wasn’t the man she loved but the most unexpected person she never thought about even in her wildest dream!

Just weeks ago, they barely knew each other but now, Ethan was conversing comfortably with her father. Even so, Lexi was grateful; she felt blessed after that incident last night. Moreover, having Ethan Lu as her friend doesn’t seem that bad. After all, what benefit does he get from her if the Lu family’s wealth was three times higher than the Yang Group’s net worth?

Before they knew it, the meal ended peacefully and with much content. Even Lexi’s tension towards Ethan Lu vanished after interacting with him every now and then. Surely, Ethan’s charms were top-notch. Now it made sensed why young misses from different prominent families and even A-list celebrities still date him despite his bad dating record.

“Lexi, dear, will you assist Ethan back to his room?” Mother Yang asked which Lexi didn’t quite understand.

“Huh?”

“What huh, silly. Ethan will stay here until he’s fully recovered! He cannot travel with his state now.” Her mother chuckled in glee as if the situation was normal. Lexi turned her disbelief gaze to her father but to her dismay, he wasn’t saying anything as he sipped his hot tea.

‘Ha, they did connive…’ Lexi mumbled inwardly. She felt like she really did step into a trap. Churu, on‌ ‌the‌ ‌other‌ ‌hand, covered her mouth as she restained herself giggles from bursting out.

Ethan smiled as his face brightens up — much brighter than the day as if he received the best news in his entire life!
