“Ms. Xin, we will be reaching in half an hour,” the driver announced.
Nodding, she simply read the file as he unexpectedly pressed the brakes. she narrowed her eyes at the driver and he shuddered under her stare. What a weakling!
She ordered him to stop the car. He knew his end was near. Very good.
“I’m so—”
“Don’t say sorry,” She said in a low hiss. “You aren’t even on the threshold of sorry yet.”
His eyes widened before he could react her bodyguards yanked him from the driver seat, who already had a gun pointed at the back of his skull. Her bodyguards were very much used to attacks like this.
“All we really need are few answers, ma’am,” Cao Feng said simply. Seemed like, her right hand was getting better day by day. He had an inkling about this driver who had accepted bribes from their enemies.
Now the question was which one? Unfortunately, they did not lack them.
Removing off her coat, she stared at the idiot who had a death wish at the end of the gun pointed at his head. He was young, only a few years older than she was. What would make him take the job as a driver and work for them? A reasonable question would be, who cleared him to be the driver of her car?
“Cao Feng, how did this clown get here?” She asked, only mildly interested as Alexender passed her another file.
“He has a debt of millions and the Bai family offered him money to get information about you ma’am,” he said, waiting for her to give the go-ahead.
“Is that why you’re here? The fools like you were offered some monetary compensation and you willingly signed the death warrant ” she said as if this angel was going to help him.
Oops! but she was no angel. She was a devil incarnated in human form.
He grimaced, swallowing the lump in his throat before speaking again. “I’m sorry “
It’s too late in the evening for blood and she shook her head at Cao Feng.
If Cao Feng knew what she was thinking he would bang his head on the wall because his boss loved chaos as much as kids love sweets.
“If you want to pay off your debt, it would be wise for you to stay alive and not leak information about who shall not be known by the world,” She told the driver before turning back to the file in front of me. The poor driver thought he would be spared.
“Yes, M-M-Miss Xin. It will n-never happen a-again.” His voice sounded like a dying dog’s. She almost sympathized with him.
” Get all information on him and keep a close eye on the man. Report if he does something suspicious,” Cao Feng said to his subordinate.
Just because they didn’t kill him today didn’t mean they could not destroy his life tomorrow. To be honest, if she was not visiting her father today she would have shot the fool but too bad she didn’t want to smell like blood. The driver was lucky enough to not get killed yet.
Cao Feng sighed. “You should have let me kill him, Ma’am.”
“My grandfather wasn’t pleased with the bloodshed I last time had done on the highway ” She smirked, entering the car as one of her bodyguards started driving.
Cao Feng wanted to laugh but he couldn’t.
Cao Feng gave her an envelope with information on her future husband and his family.
Husband. She cringed at the word.
She wouldn’t deny that her future husband was attractive—highly attractive. His grey eyes, dark sexy hair, and with a too practiced and fake smile, he was the envy of men. He wasn’t very athletic either, and he didn’t look lean but strong and powerful.
“His full name is Long Jie, Long as in dragon and Jie as in pure, age Thirty -two. He graduated high school at fifteen, Havard at twenty,” Her right-hand man said, sorting through the file.
“Let me guess, top of his class?” She added, without waiting for him to continue because She knew he would have.
He nodding. “But of course, nothing less than perfection for the Future Long head. That doesn’t only apply to the schools, but also their fancy suits, expensive cars, and overall everything.”
Something got her attention.
“Women?” She thought, she missed it.
If he used them It shouldn’t surprise her much, all men had their gadgets. She would have to put an end to it when they were married, but she understood.’ What the heck She was thinking about!’ she chided herself. There was no way she would marry that Long ass. Never in million years.
The marriage contract their fathers signed years ago stated neither side would tolerate infidelity. It had less to do with romance and more to do with strategic reasoning.
“None that we could find”, he said, checking the list once again checking if he had missed anything.
“Anything else, “She asked impatiently not bothering to hide her frustration with these Longs.
” From what I’ve gathered, he’s the brains and is also highly skilled in hand-to-hand combat, shooting, and many more things. It looks like Longs have spent most of their resources forging him to take the next head place.”
“Doesn’t he have another brother?”
“Yes, he does. Long Yuan, age twenty-nine. Engaged to Nation’s sweetheart, aka Liu ShiShi, age twenty-four, three years ago.” He lifted a photo of the couple.
“Seems like the little brother is not pleased with the nation’s sweetheart”
Throwing down the photo, she waited for him to go on.
