Just as she was about to pull the door open and enter, she heard a very scary sound.
It was a muffled gagging noise mixed with a cry or soft scream. An Luxia immediately furrowed her eyebrows together as she pushed the door open a little wider, preparing to walk in.
“Tell me!”
An Luxia froze in her place as her eyes widened. That voice! Although it was deeper and slightly hoarse, she still recognized it. That was Mo Han!
Unable to suppress her curiosity, she leaned towards the door gap and peeked inside. There was no one sitting at the table area, so they were probably on the other side of the room.
“I will give you one last chance. Tell me!”
The gagging and choking sound got louder, and An Luxia couldn’t help but wonder who was making that noise.
“K, get the knife.” Mo Han’s voice deepened and it seemed to ring in An Luxia’s ear several times even after he spoke, causing a chill to run down her spine.
There was the sound of footsteps as An Luxia tried to reposition her eye to get a look at what was happening inside, although she didn’t know if she was supposed to.
She was slowly able to make out what seemed to be the back of Mo Han’s suit, but she couldn’t see anything else.
Then suddenly, there was an ear-piercing scream.
“Ah!!!” It was a male scream, but it sounded almost like a dying chicken at the moment. Whatever had caused that scream was probably extremely painful.
An Luxia jumped back in fear, her heartbeat speeding up as she felt the air around her freeze. That scream. . . Even though she wasn’t the one that screamed, it was almost like she could feel the pain. Whatever the pain was.
As she jumped back, her bunny slippers made a clicking noise against the hard floor. At once, the noise coming from inside stopped, including the scream. The silence was deafening.
Then, Mo Han’s deep and cold voice commanded, “K, go.”
Although An Luxia knew that the “scary man” inside was her husband, hearing him give an order to capture her, she still got scared.
Just as she was debating whether she should run or not, there was a banging sound as the door was pushed open and the man An Luxia recognized to be Mo Han’s bodyguard appeared.
He was extremely tall, around the same height as Mo Han, and with his muscular body build and fierce expression, An Luxia felt her legs get weak.
K’s scary expression turned to surprise when he saw who it was, and his eyes traveled up and down An Luxia, “Um. . .”
“Who is it?” Mo Han’s dark voice calmly asked.
Since the door was completely open now, An Luxia could see inside. Mo Han’s back was facing her, and he was playing around with a knife, throwing it up in the air and then catching it again.
Across from him, there was a man kneeling on the ground with his hands and legs tied together by a rope. A bleeding gash ran past his face, and she couldn’t tell if he had fainted or if he was. . . dead.
K took another glance at An Luxia, who was in a white nightgown, before turning back around, “Mr. Mo, it is. . . Mrs. Mo.”
There was a second of silence before Mo Han immediately whirled around, his eyes and expression filled with shock.
Their eyes met and fear flashed past his face when he saw An Luxia’s pale face. Did she see everything?
“When did you get here?”
An Luxia took a step back in fear as Mo Han looked incredibly scary at the moment with blood dripping from his hand and his voice unusually deep and cold
“I. . . I didn’t mean to. I’ll forget everything -” Her body tensed up as Mo Han dropped the knife onto the ground and suddenly walked over to her.
She leaned back against the wall, holding her breath as she started mentally writing down her will. Of course, she knew that wouldn’t be necessary!
However, An Luxia being the dramatic person she was, of course she had to build a more dramatic plot for herself.
Mo Han walked out and over to An Luxia, looking down at her bunny slippers, then up to her white nightgown, then to her messy hair.
He glanced over at K, who immediately walked back into the room and closed the door.
“Did you see everything?” Mo Han asked cautiously, fear evident in his voice. He clenched his fists together and stared straight into An Luxia’s eyes.
She slowly nodded.
Mo Han gulped as he pressed his lips together, “Are you. . . scared of me now?”
“Hm?” An Luxia looked up at him confusedly.
Mo Han gulped again as he switched his weight from one foot to the other, “I. . . That person is a bad guy. I don’t do that often, I promise! And don’t worry, he’s not dead! I. . .” He scratched his head, “I didn’t know you were there.”
It took several long seconds before An Luxia finally realized why Mo Han seemed so off!
“You’re nervous because you’re scared I will be scared of you now?!”
Mo Han was a little embarrassed to have his inner thoughts spoken out loud, but he still slowly nodded his head.
*helemon’s note: Ah, Mo Han ah Mo Han! You also have this day?! Hahaha the almighty King has a time when he is scared? If anyone saw this, your reputation would be gone! Hahaha!
An Luxia smiled and said jokingly, “What do you mean?! I have always been scared of you.”
Mo Han’s eyes shot up, and he obviously didn’t recognize the joking nature in An Luxia’s last phrase.
An Luxia blinked a few times, “I was joking.”
“Oh. . . So you’re not scared?”
Seeing him so nervous was extremely cute to An Luxia, and she couldn’t help but continue to joke around with him.
She lifted her arm up and patted him gently on his head, “Don’t worry, my little Hanhan. I’m not scared! After all, you are the underworld King. Understandable, yes, very understandable.”
Mo Han blinked a few times.
Little Hanhan?!
