The Wife of Hades Novel

Chapter 23 - The Best Horror Movie

She grabbed onto Mo Han’s arm, shaking it excitedly, “Mo Han, how did you know I wanted to watch this movie?”

“. . . What?!” Mo Han looked up at the title on the door and frowned.

‘The Shark Reef’

It was known as the scariest shark horror movie that came out this year! It was also one of the two only horror movies that were being played today.

“You want to watch. . . this?” Mo Han asked confusedly.

An Luxia nodded her head excitedly as she took a look at the tickets in Mo Han’s hands, “I love shark movies! How do you know me so well?”

She smiled as she looked up at him lovingly, the sweetness inside her heart increasing. Did they just think alike or did he purposely pick this movie because he knew she would like it? How did he know she would like it?

Of course, An Luxia did not know that none of those reasons were correct.

An Luxia grabbed onto his hand and pulled him into the movie theater excitedly. Mo Han followed behind her, still confused, wondering what went wrong.

She liked to watch shark movies? Most girls did not like horror movies at all, and just from looking at her cute appearance and personality, it seemed even less likely she liked horror movies.

She got embarrassed just from him kissing her, and would get scared at night before anything even happened. How could she like horror movies?!

Mo Han shook his head as the two of them sat down in their seats. It’s okay. . . She would still be scared, right? When she was scared, then the plan would still work!

He nodded his head and decided to still trust Qin Wei in his “almighty plan”.

The two of them sat down together and An Luxia immediately began eating the popcorn as she watched the ads being played on the large screen.

“Do you like shark movies too?” An Luxia asked curiously, taking a sip of the soda.

Mo Han blinked his eyes a few times before he smiled crookedly. No. . . He absolutely hated shark movies. If there was a single thing he was scared of in this world, it would be sharks. He did not know why, but sharks were just scary to him.

“Hahaha. . . sure.” He grabbed popcorn as well and stuffed it into his mouth.

An Luxia smiled happily as she began to think that they had many things that were alike!

Before long, the movie began and just in the beginning introduction to the actual movie, there was a sudden shark that came out of nowhere and “bit” the screen.

Several people inside the room gasped and a few even screamed in shock, and An Luxia shook her head as she heard them.

What was scary about that?!

Mo Han was trying to hide his fast heartbeat and fast breathing as he began eating more popcorn. It’s okay. . . He was the King of the Underworld! What was he scared of?!

It was just a shark movie. Nothing scary about that. . . nothing at all.

The movie was about a group of four girls that go scuba diving in a famous coral reef. However, while they are down there, suddenly, several aggressive sharks appear in the reef.

They hide at the very bottom of the reef, and there are a group of sharks above them. The movie is mainly about how they escape and return to the boat on top.

“Ah!” Someone screamed as the first shark appeared on the screen.

The movie continued, and An Luxia ate her popcorn excitedly as she watched. She was indeed scared of other horror movies, but she never found shark movies to be scary.

First of all, they didn’t live in the water, so there was no need to be scared of a shark attack. Plus, it was proven that sharks don’t randomly attack humans anyway! It was all fake.

“Ah!!” Screaming filled the room as one dumb girl decided to try and swim past the sharks to the top and a shark immediately killed her.

An Luxia shook her head, mourning the stupidity of the girl. She did not notice that next to her, Mo Han was already sweating from fear.

He glanced at An Luxia, wondering why she didn’t seem to have any reaction to the jump scares. Stupid Qin Wei! His plans did not work at all!

As one of the girls had to swim past from one rock to another in order to reach a different hiding place, it seemed fine and she was almost at the other rock when suddenly, a shark came from below and bit her body into pieces.

The image was incredibly realistic, a reason why the movie was so popular.

Along with all the screams and gasps in the room, Mo Han’s hand instinctively grabbed onto the nearest object next to him, which coincidentally was An Luxia’s hand that was grabbing popcorn.

An Luxia glanced at him and saw the fear and shock in his face. She blinked a few times, “You’re scared of shark movies?”

Mo Han looked at her and gulped before finally nodding his head, looking away a little embarrassedly.

An Luxia smiled, thinking that it was cute how he was scared, and she wrapped her arm around his shoulder, patting him on the shoulder, “Don’t worry. I’ll protect you!”

“. . .” Mo Han blinked a few times. That wasn’t how it was supposed to work. . . right?

Shouldn’t it be the other way around?

The rest of the movie quickly went by as each girl died one by one. Whenever there was a sudden attack or jump scare, An Luxia would very “considerately” pat him on the back and comfort him.

After a few times, Mo Han wasn’t so scared anymore, and he couldn’t help but feel a little embarrassed to be comforted by a little girl younger than him! And he was the King of the Underworld!

If this news spread, his reputation would be gone!

After one final girl was able to make it out of the reef safely, the movie came to an end and the lights in the theater opened again.

Everyone slowly stood up and left the large theater, a few people still in shock from the realistic movie.

Meanwhile, An Luxia slowly finished the rest of the popcorn in the tub as the theme song of the movie played and the credits rolled by.

“Why did you choose a shark movie if you were scared of it?” She asked confusedly.

“Haha, I’m not that scared. . . I. . . You liked it, right?”

An Luxia nodded her head with a smile, “Come one. Since you chose a movie that I liked, I’ll treat you to a good meal.”

She stood up and grabbed her bag with one hand, using the other to grab onto his hand. Together, they walked out of the theater with An Luxia walking in front, grabbing onto his hand.

Mo Han couldn’t help but wonder why this almost felt like he was a little brother being taken care of by an older sister?!

No, no, no! This shouldn’t be right!

He cleared his throat and walked over, standing next to An Luxia as they walked together. He needed to get his reputation back!

Good thing that there were still several more steps to Qin Wei’s plan!
