Once she stepped foot into the living room, a strong force immediately pulled her onto the couch.
“An Luxia, why am I not the first one to know about your marriage?!” Yu Xinyi narrowed her eyes and asked.
“I was going to tell you. . . I just never got the chance.”
From not too far away, Mo Han watched as the two girls whispered quietly amongst themselves. He scooched forward on the couch a little, trying to hear what they were saying. However, Yu Xinyi’s eyes immediately shot up and glared at him. He immediately moved back.
“He really is the leader of the HLX?”
An Luxia nodded.
“Did he force you to marry him? Like with a knife? Or some sort of weapon? Or threaten to kill your pet bird?”
An Luxia chuckled softly, “No, Xinyi! And my brother takes care of the bird now.”
Yu Xinyi’s eyes widened in excitement, “Really?! Does he take care of it in his apartment?”
An Luxia nodded, noticing the sparkle in Yu Xinyi’s eyes.
“Hehehe, another reason for me to go visit him! Yes!” Yu Xinyi wiggled her shoulders in excitement, receiving a huge eye roll from An Luxia.
“Ah, I think your one-sided love has no hope.”
Yu Xinyi frowned, “How can you say that as my friend?! You’re his sister! You have to help me!”
“I have been! Remember that time when I left you two alone in my room, and then I wonder who was the one that tripped over her own feet while walking. Hm?”
Yu Xinyi gulped and looked away as her cheeks turned red in embarrassment, “Um. . . Why do you still remember that?! Anyway, your new husband is quite cute, isn’t he?”
“Don’t try to change the subject!” An Luxia smiled softly, “He is.”
Then, the two girls began giggling loudly. Mo Han looked at them confusedly, not knowing that the two of them were laughing because of him.
—
Coincidentally, the decorations An Luxia had bought for the black house arrived, so Yu Xinyi ended up staying over for the rest of the afternoon to help An Luxia decorate the house.
And poor Mo Han. . . He was wifeless for the rest of the day.
—
The next morning, after a very “tiring” night filled with exercise, An Luxia left the house by herself and arrived in front of a cute little shop with the words ‘Haotian Bakery’ printed in pink several inches above the door.
An Luxia walked in, the bell tied to the door ringing as it signified the arrival of a new “customer”.
“Welcome to Haotian Bakery!”
The small space was decorated using mainly pink and white colors. There were several small tables with white chairs and two photo zones.
A couple was eating inside the shop, and the woman looked up when she heard the bell ring, quickly looking back down after seeing that it wasn’t anything special.
An Luxia didn’t go over to the tables, but instead made a right turn as she pushed the door open to the checkout counter.
“Is my mom and dad here?” She asked the young girl in high school working as the cashier.
“Yes.”
As it was a small business, all the workers here knew who the boss and the boss’s family were. An Luxia smiled before walking into the back kitchen, where she found her dad bent down behind a two-story cake, carefully piping the whipped cream decoration onto the bottom layer.
“Dad!”
An Ping gasped as his hand shook slightly, his head appearing from behind the cake, “Xiaxia, I’m trying to do the cream! When did you come?”
He put down the piping bag and walked over, “Are you here to get free bread again?”
An Luxia stuck her tongue out playfully, “Yes but no. I’m here to get free bread for my husband now!”
An Ping rolled his eyes, “Ch! You only got married for a few days, and you already care about your husband more than your dad now.”
An Luxia smiled and walked over to her dad, “Dad, how can you say that? I’m here, right? Of course I care about you the most!”
An Ping couldn’t help but grin upon hearing that, and he walked back over to the cake to finish the whipped cream.
The back door opened and Qi Lanyu walked out, biting into a cupcake as she did, “Xiaxia, you’re here! I was wondering when you would come and visit us after you disappeared with that guy!”
An Luxia skipped over to her mom and took a bite out of the cupcake, “I’m here now. . . to get some bread for my husband.”
She smiled cutely, but still ended up receiving a glare from her mom.
“Hmph! Take your bread and go!”
“Mom. . .” An Luxia grabbed onto Qi Lanyu’s arm, shaking it softly.
“When are you going to come back for dinner? You should bring Mo Han too.” It only takes a second for Qi Lanyu’s anger to disappear.
“I’ll come tonight, okay? I still have some things to do. I’ll be home at 6, okay?” An Luxia waved before walking out of the kitchen to pick the bread she wanted, and then she left.
—
At exactly 6, An Luxia arrived at the An house with Mo Han, who carried a basket of fruits and several other bags in his other hand. At once, the delicious smell of dinner entered their noses as they walked into the dining room, where Qi Lanyu was setting up the table.
“You two are here! The food is almost ready.”
Her eyes landed on the fruit basket and she smiled, “Oh, you didn’t have to bring gifts. It isn’t your first time here anyway.”
Mo Han stepped forward with a smile, “Please excuse me for not being prepared the first time we met. Here are just some small gifts. I hope you can accept them.”
Qi Lanyu nodded her head, thinking that Mo Han was a polite kid. She took over the bags and smiled, “Thank you. You didn’t have to! Sit, sit. Dinner is almost ready.”
A few minutes later, they were all seated around the dinner table eating dinner together.
An Yuchen, who had also arrived a minute before dinner started, looked up at his sister and raised one eyebrow. An Luxia pursed her lips out, looking over at him pitifully.
Finally, An Yuchen mouthed the word “eat” and looked down to begin eating dinner himself.
After a very long dinner filled with chatter, An Luxia and Mo Han were going to return home.
“Come eat often, okay? Mo Han, you also have to keep an eye on Xiaxia! Make sure you two come back home often. Don’t forget!”
An Luxia nodded her head, “I know, I know. It’s getting late. You two should go back home.”
She pulled open the car door and waved at her parents before getting into the passenger’s seat. Before Mo Han entered the car, An Ping quickly said:
“Mo Han, take good care of Xiaxia, okay?”
Mo Han smiled, “I will, dad.”
Then, he got into the car and drove away, leaving An Ping and Qi Lanyu standing alone in the warm summer night outside of their house.
A few seconds later, they also turned around and went back home.
— One month later
An Luxia ran around the house hurriedly from her room to the dining room, and then back to her room, and then to the office room, and then to her room again.
Mo Han watched her go back and forth and shook his head softly, regretting not helping her pack her bag the day before. He should have known that she would forget.
After a long and exciting summer break, today was the first day of school for An Luxia.
