Chapter 30 - Child, I Am Dying

*Five Years Later*

She was doing the laundry when someone knocked the door. “Ah Wen, open the door. It must be granny.”

“Okay, mommy!!” The child who was running while playing around the room went to the door and opened it.

She was currently using bleach to erase the stains when she felt that something was wrong. She turned around and saw the person she never thought she would ever see again. The bottle of bleach fell on the floor but she did not even care about it. All she wanted was to run…

To run away from him.

‘Ah Wen!’ She wanted to hide her child. She was afraid that he might take Ah Wen away from her.

“W-why…Why are you here?” Her voice trembled. She tried to sound indifferent but she was not successful.

“I’m here to get you. I’m here to explain everything.”

“No need. I am perfectly fine. We are fine without you!! Just go!! Do not comeback!!” She shouted. She did not need him anymore. What happened to them was just a dream. A sweet dream… So sweet that she was almost drowned by it.

“No!! Just let me explain!! Why won’t you listen to me? Ah Wen is also my child! He needs a father.” He went to the boy. He kneeled and pat the boy’s head. The boy was looking at him with curiosity in his eyes.

Suddenly, the boy said said, “Are you my dad?”

He smiled and replied, “Yes. I’m your daddy. I’m going to get you and your mom to live with me. Do you want that?”

“Enn!” The child nodded.

He hugged the child and carried him towards her. He touched her cheeks and said, “What happened to us was entirely my fault. Please forgive…. I love you.”

She cried.. Those were the words she always wanted to hear. Finally…

While sobbing, she smiled. “Mmm.. I love you too.”

He kissed her. The three of them hugged each other.

*The End*

Feng Jiu almost spat all of the food inside her mouth.

She was staring blankly at the television.

‘The heck!! That was it?! She forgave him?! How stupid!! She must be blind loving a scheming and shameless man!!’ Feng Jiu grudgingly glared at the television. ‘If saying sorry is enough then what’s the use of the law? The policemen? Those law enforcement officers would be sacked, right? Wouldn’t that mean you can do illegal things as long as you say ‘sorry’?’

Feng Jiu was currently sitting while cursing the stupid movie when the old woman entered the house. “JiuJiu… This child! Why are you eating noodles? It’s not good for your baby. You should eat vegetables and rice.”

“Aunt Ling, you’re back?” Feng Jiu wanted to stand up and help her carry those baskets.

“Aiyaa~ no need. No need. I can do it. Just sit down. I will prepare some—”

“Aunt Ling.” Feng Jiu grabbed Aunt Ling’s hands. She squeezed both of it while looking at the old woman.

“Feng Jiu was very grateful towards you and uncle Ling. Without you, Feng Jiu might have been wandering endlessly. Thank you for taking good care of Feng Jiu for this past few days.” Feng Jiu’s eyes turned misty.

Since she was a child, aside from her grandfather and a couple of friends she treated as siblings, there was no other person who cared for her without any ulterior motive. Most of them wanted to befriend her and use her to gain profits. Those people did not treat her as a person but as a human piggy bank[1].

“What is this child talking about? You are like a daughter to me. My children already have their own family and are not in the village anymore. I and your uncle Ling are very happy to have you here.”

Feng Jiu smiled. She vowed that she would definitely help both of them in the near future. She was staying here for almost a week since that incident. Thinking back at what happened few days ago, she was not really angry at MinFeng for forcing her. In the end, she submitted herself wholeheartedly and accepted everything.

She was not angry…

But..

She was deeply hurt. She was disappointed.

She was…. Unable to forgive.

The fact that he lied to her without giving explanation was enough to condemn him for three lifetimes.

With or without MinFeng, Feng Jiu decided to live her life for the sake of Little Bump. She smiled while caressing her abdomen. Although she did not know why she became pregnant even though she used pills, she was happy to accept this child. This child would serve as the reminder of her own stupidity.

Her own stupidity about love, about relationships, and about life.

She was once stupid enough to love someone who did not love her back, but she regretted nothing.

Because of her stupidity, she was able to meet this little one. She was grateful for it.

But there was something that was bothering her for a while. She was 6 weeks pregnant. The exact time she used pills. Pills were more effective than condoms because it controlled the hormones and maturation of ovules.

But.. If that was the case, then why was she pregnant right now?

It was impossible to think that the pills were fake nor over its expiration date because she bought it in the pharmacy.

So, there was only one conclusion she could think of.

Someone sabotaged her.

But… Who? Was it MinFeng?

‘Impossible!!’

Since it did not really matter who sabotaged her, Feng Jiu decided to just forget everything.

Night came and she was in deep slumber. She saw she was at the Mansion, standing in front of her Grandfather’s room.

She knocked the door but no one answered.

“Yeye? Where are you?”

She opened it and entered the room. There, she saw her grandfather lying on the bed. He looked pale. His body was very thin as if any minute by now, he would visit King Yama[2]’s door.

He raised his hand, as if telling her to come over. She ran towards him and kneeled beside the bed.

“Yeye..” Feng Jiu cried..

‘What happened to Yeye?’

“Child… I am dying…”

Feng Jiu suddenly woke up. Her face was full of tears. Her heart was thumping really fast as if it wanted to jump out of her chest. She immediately grabbed her phone. Since the day she left MinFeng, she switched it off. Not letting anyone to contact her. She was afraid that MinFeng would trace her location. She did not want to see him.

In order not to make her grandfather worry, she sent him a message, informing him that she would go abroad for a month. Saying that she would do an onsite visit for their project proposal in the Western Market.

She exhaled while pressing the power button. Seconds later, her phone was flooded with messages coming from Xiao Mei, Ming Yue and other people related to the company.

But MinFeng never texted her, never called her. Feng Jiu smiled painfully.

‘Heh.. As if..’ She was mocking herself when she saw Long Jin’s text message.

[Miss Jiu, Chairman is in critical condition.]

Feng Jiu froze.
