Before Li Jiaqing could make a move, another larger man came forth and screamed at Cao Jianhui, “Get lost, squirt. What a childish first-year, acting like a ruffian.”

“Excuse me? I’m not asking for your number. Why the hell are you interfering?” said Cao Jianhui. He gave the big guy a solemn, disapproving look. “I’m just here to befriend this beautiful girl.”

Being disapproved of by a junior in front of beautiful girls was so insulting that the larger guy instantly got mad. He took a big step forward and stood toe-to-toe with Cao Jianhui.

“Squirt, don’t mess with me or you’ll be going off on a gurney.”

The big guy’s name was Jin Qicai. He was a second-year student in the Sports faculty. He was a core member of the university’s martial arts team, as well as the Vice President of the martial arts club. He liked to fight, and came from an average family. Above all, he was a loyal follower of Li Jiaqing.

Li Jiaqing was in the Finance faculty, a second-year student in the International Trade course. Being his close friend, almost brother-like even, Jin Qicai knew about the romantic feelings Li Jiaqing had for Ouyang Huihui since they were in middle school together.

He had only started to take actions to get closer to her during high school. And now that they were in the same university, Li Jiaqing could go all out in chasing after her.

As his follower, Jin Qicai did what any good friend would when his buddy was trying to court a female—be a good wingman.

Jin Qicai knew Li Jiaqing’s background. He was the eldest son of a multi-million dollar family. That kind of privilege was something any average person would dream of having. Following him around gave Jin Qicai benefits. He could not ask for more. At the very least, he never had to worry about his living finances.

School had just started and someone, a first-year student no less, came up to try and snatch Li Jiaqing’s woman away. Noticing how large Cao Jianhui was—bulky would be the appropriate word to describe him—Jin Qincai quickly came in, ready to fight in Li Jiaqing’s stead.

He knew that Li Jiaqing would never actually act against these first-year students as that would only diminish his stature in public and worse, lower his impression in Ouyang Huihui’s eyes. It would be Jin Qincai’s job, Li Jiaqing’s underling so to speak, to fend off potential threats.

Cao Jianhui was surprised that they would come at him with intense hostility. Naturally, he got angry and reacted in the same manner. “F*ck off. This is none of your business.”

Luo Ziling felt something was going wrong. He quickly raced towards his friend and held him back. “Jianhui, enough. Don’t do it. It’s not worth it,” he said, grabbing Cao Jianhui’s trunk-like arms with great force.

He was far stronger than Cao Jianhui. Although Cao Jianhui was at least one hundred and eighty pounds, Luo Ziling was still able to drag him away with relative ease.

Now, Jin Qicai was not going to stay quiet. Seeing the two retreating, he thought they were scared. He decided to move forward, to push on with anger.

“Oi, you first-year dog, apologize now or I’ll make sure you’ll be eating your meals through a straw for the entire semester.”

Cao Jianhui was not going to take that threat lightly. He struggled to free himself, wanting to fight Jin Qicai. “Bastard! Who are you insulting? I’ll rip your lips off your face! You wanna go? Come on then!”

Unfortunately, he was all bark and no bite. No matter how hard he struggled, Luo Ziling refused to loosen his vice-like grip. Spotting how Ouyang Huihui was smiling playfully as she stood back and watched the commotion, Luo Ziling’s blood started to boil.

“Ouyang Huihui, what have you done?” he yelled at the top of his lungs.

His howl was so loud and sudden that Ouyang Huihui, as well as the other guys that were with her, were left stunned.

To think that that first-year student knows Ouyang Huihui!

Cao Jianhui was so surprised that he momentarily forgot about his attempts to get himself free. He turned to look at his restrainer in awe and shock.

Ouyang Huihui was not taking it well either. She was already angry at him and got even angrier when Luo Ziling yelled out her name.

Her voice rattled as she shouted back at him in aggravation, “Luo Ziling, you humiliated me and you still dare to show your face in front of me! I told you, I’m not through with you!”

Everyone else was petrified, frozen stiff in place upon hearing Ouyang Huihui claim that Luo Ziling had humiliated her.

Luo Ziling had been busy during the afternoon. Was he with the lady? If he was, what did he do to her? Had he actually played with a woman on his very first day on campus?

Cao Jianhui could not stop staring at Luo Ziling with disbelief. Everything he knew about him did not align with what he was accused of doing! It was as if he did not know anything about this roommate of his.

Li Jiaqing, who was staring at the group with an icy glare, failed to contain himself after Ouyang Huihui’s shouted accusation. He stepped forward and pointed directly at Luo Ziling’s face.

“Boy, are you sick of living? You dare to humiliate Huihui?!” He turned to Ouyang Huihui and asked, “What did he do to you, Huihui?”

Ouyang Huihui could clearly see how aggravated Li Jiaqing was. Her eyes swam around her eye socket for a bit before she could phrase what she wanted to say.

“He pranked me! He called me a crazy b*tch! He was going to hurt me, make a fool out of me!” she cried out.

At her declaration, the heated scene lapsed into a quiet, barren silence. She had only been on campus for a few days but everyone who met her had treated her like a goddess. Some had even nominated her as the campus’ most beautiful lady!

Those who were standing there were mostly followers of Li Jiaqing, and they all knew that he had romantic feelings for Ouyang Huihui. Hearing her shout like that only sent a wave of rage washing over him.

“Brat, you have just breathed your last breath!” snarled Li Jiaqing.

His eyes glared into Luo Ziling’s, burning with fury as he spoke, “You have done enough to wrong Huihui! Do you know who she is? Did you? Before you humiliated her? I’m going to give you two options. Either you slap yourself ten times and get on your knees to beg for her forgiveness, or we’ll do that to you. Your choice.”

He was done talking and a very annoyed Luo Ziling was done listening. His face was like a sheet of ice.

There were two kinds of people he truly hated: those who tried to lure and reel you in, and those who threw out threats. It was a little unfair to put them together since he hated the second kind of people more, magnitudes more…

Before he could react, Cao Jianhui jumped out of his grip and charged towards Li Jiaqing. His face trembled with rage. “Oy bastard! Who the f*ck are you? You dare to threaten us like that? Beat it!”

Luo Ziling attempted to drag him back but failed, and so Cao Jianhui continued charging straight for Li Jiaqing. In response, Jin Qicai came forth.

With a fist raised to the air, he confronted Cao Jianhui. “Get lost or you’ll be the one kissing the asphalt!”

Jin Qicai pushed Cao Jianhui’s chest, causing him to fall two steps back. Cao Jianhui was at his limit. He was going to beat someone tonight. However, before he could raise his fist, Luo Ziling locked his arms and pulled him back.

“Ouyang Huihui, you are going too far!” shouted Luo Ziling.

He did not care about Jin Qicai or Li Jiaqing, the only person he truly despised right now was Ouyang Huihui. He glared fiercely at her. “If this is how members of the Ouyang family behave, consider my eyes wide open now.”

“Luo Ziling, you bastard!” replied Ouyang Huihui angrily. She was at her limit too. “There is no one worse than you!”

She wanted to bark more but decided to keep her mouth shut as Luo Ziling was glaring at her. That being said, the anger brewing inside of her made her not stop Lo Jiaqing and the others.

Luo Ziling was done. Keeping a powerful grip on Cao Jianhui, he dragged him back and called out to their two other fidgeting roommates, “Let’s go back!”

Li Jiaqing’s voice blared out, “Don’t even think of leaving! You have ignored us and dared to humiliate Huihui! You even ignored what I said!” He turned to Jin Qicai. “Beat them up! Make sure that they do what I demanded earlier.”

Li Jiaqing was pissed off beyond his limits. Even after confronting him, Luo Ziling was still ignoring his presence and treating his previous threats as nothing! He had even yelled at Ouyang Huihui! His pride had just received a major blow and for a moment there, he lost his senses.
