The thing about prisms was that here was no guarantee they would give skills, and the probability of receiving skills from a prism was low the lower the grade of the prism used. Some of them fade into nothingness, if you were lucky you could receive a few stats, or a lot of it depending on the grade of the prism in hand. At the moment Cole had 4 bronze prisms and 4 iron prisms and 1 silver prism. This early into the event which was pretty much a whole other game of its own, having a silver prims was an edge, especially since it was 75% guaranteed to give a skill, and one that was extremely powerful.
*Bang!*
Cole raised his head to give a long hard look at the door currently being deformed by the alien trying to get through. He palmed the new gear in his hand, a dagger with a sharp straight edge, while the other side was extremely jagged like the teeth of a saw. A band of energy ran through the middle as the dagger let loose a subtle vibration; that was it had a higher penetration and cutting power, enough to even go through solid rock and most types of weak metal. He shifted his attention to the prisms, using all of them in tandem, there was no time to analyze them all and choose the most optimal stat to assign them too, he let it all happen randomly, and however he held the silver back, absolutely planning to use it on his attunement stat.

Knowledge flowed through his head in a steady stream as he took three steps back in order to right himself. The onslaught of stats aside, just getting to understand the basic levels of the skills he had just received and how to use them left his mind swimming. Plus he didn’t even have time to read through their descriptions as he was absolutely running out of time, half of the door has already been caved in and the loot boxes on the table had already been flung everywhere. He had to see if there was anything in there that could give him an edge, even healing pills will make a world of difference in what was to come, this Alien wasn’t like the others and definitely not like the players either.

Cole was already out of time, most of his gains clattered to the ground as he equipped the gloves and held the Vibro blade tighter within his right hand. The door completely crumpled to the side and left Cole wide open and exposed for the Nijat Alien, or perhaps it was the other way around Cole’s face took on a focused look. Perhaps it was the Nijat alien that was left wide open. And for the past minute or so, the alien has been banging down on the door, expecting to find a quivering hiding mess of a human, it definitely did not expect Cole to fight back.
[Wild Charge]
Cole rushed forwards, maybe he has not been as successful in making a career out of playing games, but that wasn’t because he lacked skill. He had achievements in multiple martial arts discipline and practically knew how to understand and manipulate people on a scale that could and would be considered monumental. But the scene of virtual sports entertainment was as rigged as politics. The large guilds had control over the best hunting spots, they owned dungeons and territories. You couldn’t achieve much in the game without being a part of any one of those guilds, and beyond that even if you were a part of them, Nepotism was heavily in play, and skill was no longer a dividing line as corruption in events and competitions in order to make more money or more ‘entertainment’ for television has made it that no new comers could make it.
Cole had everything needed to be not just a good professional gamer, but one of the best if not THE BEST. But too many stumbling blocks in his path placed by his own family, and his unwillingness to bend over for anybody at all. But this final even was a chance! There were many options available for it to be rigged, for people to cheat, but it was akin to a brand new game. Nothing has been claimed and opportunities were ripe for the picking for whoever wanted to take it, and beyond that too….this event was designed in such a way that anything claimed doesn’t last forever, and only talent and skill can keep you going forward.
So there was no fear in his eyes, he might have been frantic, but that was so that he wouldn’t lose one of his lives. He got the feeling that it would be a very precious resource in the future, and losing one on just the first floor seems like a complete and total waste. As he utilized the [Wild Charge] skill, a haze transparent yet obvious distortion appeared in the air around his form. It propelled him forwards as he slammed into the chest of the massive Nijat alien, finally getting a good look at it as he was pushed back after the impact.
The Alien was well over 9 feet tall, it had the same four arms as the others, and a tail tipped with a glowing bulbous crystal. Not to mention it was twice as wide as the others with a chest filled with muscles and a chitinous armor. From What Cole has experienced so far, the Nijat aliens looked to be a mixture between humanoid lizards and insects. But in the end it didn’t matter, at least not in this moment as he rushed forwards, ducking under a quick strike by the alien with its tail trailing a glowing green light. Cole’s Vibro blade found the chinks in between its armor and dug in deeply, he left the blade in and ducked under a grab, before calling forth the feeling of power he was getting from deep within his core and pushed his palm outwards.
[Gravity]
The Nijat alien stumbled back, it’s back slamming into a couple of pipes hanging on the walls behind it. Cole rushed forwards, running as he leapt off the wall at the side of the alien and deliver a kick to the side of its head, which even in this particular alien was the weakest part of its body and an obvious weak point. It stumbled dazed as Cole dropped down and rushed into its space once again to lay hands back on the Vibro blade he had left lodged in its body. He pulled it out just in time to cross his hands as a wild slam from two of its powerful arms sent Cole flying down the hallway and into a crowd of people that were making their escape in his direction. .
Cole tasted blood, but he was not done yet as he ignored the obvious pain in his body and took off in a running start towards the alien in front of him. At the peak of his run, he utilized the [Wild Charge] skill again, feeling a dip in his energy reserves as his form blitzed through the hallway to slam into the sternum of an unsuspecting semi-giant alien lizard insect thing. The impact this time was a lot stronger as both Cole and the alien were thrown on their backs with the alien hitting its head on the rungs of the ladder Cole had noticed a couple of minutes earlier and that the alien had used in order to chase after Cole.
“Your heads are your weakness” Cole said as he got up and rushed forwards, the giant alien flopping on the ground as if it was in the throes of a seizure. Cole didn’t stand on ceremony as he dug his blade deep into its bulbous head, intensifying the trashing for a few more seconds before the alien went still, very much dead to the world and Cole once again injured deeply, but standing victorious. The body burst into a shower of light soon enough, leaving behind two bronze prisms, two iron prisms, a couple of silver coins and three gold coins and finally a gun. Cole smiled reading through the notification in front of him, before heading back into the storage room, his attention drawn by the only system message that mattered to him right now.
