“You know, Elle? You’re like a bird begging to be caught!” Lucas scoffed, then hurried into his room.
“What do you mean, Lucas?” Ellena asked, staring at Lucas’ back which was getting further and further away from her.
“Come on, Elle! I see what you mean.” Lucas seemed to wave, without looking back and stopping his steps.
Lucas entered his room and closed the door tightly.
Meanwhile, Elle was still standing in the same place staring at Lucas’ door. “Do you really understand what I mean?” softly.
She had been in that position for quite some time. Her gaze was straight ahead, right at the white bedroom door. However, the door was not the object of her sight, for this time her gaze was blank. It seemed, for was really thinking about her fate for tomorrow.
“I hope what he said is true. I hope he really understands what I mean.” Ellena rushed from the room to Lucas’ study which was not far from her.
An hour passed. Ellena was no longer thinking about her mother-in-law’s plans to stay at her house. However, she again thought about her fate. Of course it’s very annoying. She just wants to work and have an income, even though she is currently Lucas’ wife. She was clearly worried about her future and that of her family. So, as much as possible she had to find a way to save and still have money, after her divorce from Lucas. At least, she can use the money to open a small business to support her life later.
Slowly and doubtfully, Ellena stepped into Lucas’ room. She knocked on the door of the room, but there was no answer from the owner. Ellena repeated the beat. However, again Lucas did not answer.
“Where is he? Could he be asleep?” said Elena surprised. “In fact, she hasn’t had dinner yet,” she added later.
Not wanting to give up, Ellena knocked again until she noticed the twisting motion of the doorknob. Ellena smiled happily as the door opened. However, the smile vanished in an instant, when Lucas snapped at him.
“You’re so noisy! Can’t you just give me some peace?” Lucas rolled his eyes, staring at Ellena so intently. It seemed that he was really bothered by Ellena’s behavior this time.
“Sorry,” Elena mumbled, lowering her gaze. H
she didn’t dare look at Lucas. Lucas’s sinister expression made him feel very scared.
“I-I just wanted to take you out to dinner.” Ellena cursed herself in her heart. How could those words come out of her self mouth, when the purpose of him seeing Lucas was not for that, but for other things that had been bothering him for the past few days.
“I’m not hungry. You eat yourself!” Lucas said firmly as he was about to close the door to his room again.
“W-wait!” Ellena swiftly stopped Lucas’ intention. “There’s something important I want to talk about.” Ellena tried to express her desire, after Lucas refused to close the door.
Lucas didn’t respond right away. was still staring at Elena in annoyance. ‘This woman always bothers me!’ he grumbled in his heart.
“Do you have time?” asked Ellen to confirm.
“What do you want to talk to me about, ha?” Lucas asked in a tone still very annoyed.
“Can we talk there?” Ellena pointed at the sofa in theź living room.
“No!” Lucas flatly refused.
“Okay, I’ll talk here.” Elena gave up. Again, he had to give in.
“I want to go back to work. Are you willing to help me?” Ellena hesitantly expressed her wish. This time she dared to look Lucas in the face. However, her gaze was so wistful and hopeful.
Tonight, Ellena had managed to surprise Lucas a second time, after her behavior an hour ago.
Lucas was surprised again by Ellena’s sudden attitude. Suddenly being considerate of him, and suddenly expressing his desire to get back to work. In fact, previously Ellena had no objections to it.
“No!” Lucas answered briefly, without any other words that followed his words.
“Please help me, I beg you. I really need that job!” Ellena clasped her hands together in front of her chest.
Lucas raised his eyebrows. He was even more surprised by Ellena’s attitude this time.
“No!” Lucas firmly refused Ellena’s request, without caring about the woman who was currently begging him.
“Sir, I know you’re actually a good person. You can’t possibly, can you, let a poor person like me suffer?” Ellena wore a pitiful expression. “What will happen to me after I divorce you, if I don’t have a job and no money?” explained later.
Lucas looked away for a moment, then looked back at Ellena deeply and sharply.
“You’ve disobeyed my orders, so the answer is still NO!” Lucas answered emphatically, then he closed the door to his room so hard it made a sound that echoed through the house.
Ellena blinked in surprise. The pounding of the door had managed to send such a great vibration to her heart. Reflexively she stroked her chest slowly.
“What order did I break, to make him act like that?” Elena whispered as she remembered her mistake.
“Good grief… I was wrong to call him ‘Master’.” Ellena slapped her forehead while cursing herself. He regretted having forgotten that Lucas didn’t like it when he called him that.
Ellena is getting confused, what will she do in the future.
‘Should I try to find a job somewhere else, okay? Unbeknownst to him,’ muttered Ellena.
She immediately dismissed the ridiculous thought. Things would get worse if Lucas found out he was lying. Worst case scenario is that Ellena won’t be able to work in any company, after she divorced from Lucas. Because she knew how much power that man had. And it is certain that the fate of Ellena and her family will get worse.

Today, Ellena decided to spend her morning wrestling in the kitchen. She was busy cooking lunch menu and some cakes, as a snack that she had gotten the recipe from watching tutorials on the internet. She did that on purpose to divert her irritation towards Lucas.
All the food made by her hands was neatly arranged on the dining table. Ellena then rushed to clean up.
15 minutes was enough for Ellena to spend her time in the bathroom. Ellena lay down on the bed. Not even five minutes later, there was a knock on her door. The woman took a deep breath.
“Miss, sorry to interrupt, there is a big madam in the living room,” said Joana after Ellena opened the door.
The maid’s words managed to make Ellena’s heart almost jump from its place. Even though Ellena knew that her mother-in-law would visit. However, Ellena did not expect that the middle-aged woman would come so soon.
‘Oh, how’s this? What if mommy later asks about my relationship with her annoying child? I confuse what I must answer. Just a little wrong answer, I could be beheaded alive by Lucas.” So he thought.
“Miss, are you okay? Do I need to ask Old Lady to come here?” The maid’s question snapped Ellena out of her thoughts.
“Oh, there’s no need. I’ll just go to see mommy directly,” replied Ellena, “thank you, yes,” he continued again.
Ellena immediately met her mother-in-law who was waiting in the living room. All the way down the stairs, Ellena’s heart kept racing. She had hoped for a miracle Lucas would come home early today.
“Mommy.”
