The one weapon that was currently in Viktor’s hand was the very own Russian-made grenade launcher that the people felt extremely proud about.
RG-6, a Russian 40mm, six-shot, revolver type grenade launcher designed to fire a standard caseless grenade. A weapon perfect for such an occasion.
Holding such a gigantic weapon is enough to make any man crack a gleeful smile. As for Viktor, there was no obvious reaction, but one could see the small smile he had on his face when the weapon came into his hand.
Without further ado, Viktor turned his attention back to the oncoming hordes, aimed the weapon at those motherfucker, and pressed the trigger like there’s no tomorrow.
Swish! Swish!
Two massive bullets shot through the barrel, before both landed in the middle of the zombie horde. However, to Viktor’s dismay, the resulting explosion was not as big as he expected.
Kaboom! Kaboom!
Each bullet was only able to kill either three or four zombies, while the shockwave was only enough to scatter half a dozen around the point of explosion.
On one hand, he was disappointed with the strength, but considering his current situation, there was not much room for other options. Hence he decided to use up all 6 shots, while Nicko and the two others acted as backup.
Kabbooomm! Kaboooomm!
[You have received 1 point of spirit force]-.
6 shots, it meant he had killed at least two dozen different zombies, but even with that, Viktor only managed to obtain one point.
“Darn it!” Viktor cursed in a low voice.
Click! Click! Viktor tried to press the trigger of the weapon once more, confirming it to be empty. He glanced behind him and saw Barry come out from the bunker to join them while holding an assault rifle.
Looking at the sight of a 15 years old kid bringing a weapon in his hand and with a demeanor of ready to battle, did amuse Viktor a bit. But, he really had no need for the kid to join as had other plans prepared for this dependable assistant of his.
He quickly pulled Barry, who was already aiming down the sight, over to him before whispering to him a few words, telling him to quickly return to the bunker while the others were busy.
With this, now there were 6 people outside of the bunker, unleashing a literal hell of bullets upon the hordes of undead. Viktor, Boris, Terri, Nicko, and two guests from the bunker, all shooting at the incoming mass of zombies with varying accuracy. However, it was clear to anyone, there were just too many of them, and that the hordes were steadily closing in despite their efforts.
“What are we going to do, Viktor?! We are going to die!!” Nicko said in a worried tone.
“Just keep firing!” Viktor answered while he aimed his assault rifle and drove a bullet to an unlucky zombie.
“Blyattt!! There are just too many of them!!”
“Reload the grenade launcher dammit!!”
Nicko and his friends gave him a bit of support, but as they were untrained, their shots were shaky, and they could only hit the zombies due to pure luck. He cant help to think if only that bastard Patroski didnt betray him and the other bodyguard were here, they would might have made a different.
Looking at the number of hordes surrounding them and the dozens of red zombies around, Viktor already lost hope on trying to save everyone in his bunker.
Even if he took his newfound power into account, he wasn’t even sure he could run fast enough to pass that many creatures unscathed.
At the moment, his only plan was to kill as many of them as he could while checking out on his stats for any increase.
[Strength – 15 ]
[Agility – 20 ]
[Endurance – 25]
[Battle power – 20]
[Spirit force – 19]
[Mortal realm – mid stage]
By this point, Viktor has been gaining a lot of endurance points, but what he has been waiting for is the fact that his spirit force has reached 19 points. He would dare to bet that if he could get one more point, he would reach another breakthrough like before.
Viktor quickly dropped the assault rifle in his hand to take the already reloaded grenade launcher before proceeding to shoot all the available ammunition away.
Swish! Swish! Swish!
Kaboom! kaboom! kaboom!
Just like before, the power packed by each shot still felt unsatisfying. But right before he shot the last 40mm explosive bullet, the message he was looking for had finally appeared.
[You have received 1 point of spirit force]
[You have reached a breakthrough into a new realm]
[Mortal realm – high stage]
[You received 10 status points that you can freely distribute!]
“Finally!”
The 10 bonus status points would be his ticket to survive and finish the quest.
Now, he just needed to wait for Barry to return with what he asked and leave this place behind. His mind went into deep thought as he tried to think of a place he could go to; one that had everything his bunker had was naturally preferred.
While Victor was lost in his thoughts, he didn’t realize that he had forgotten something important. All the shooting and notifications made him forget about time; everything that had happened, to be exact. This made the predicament Viktor was in now into a predicament he wanted to avoid at all costs.
Time seemingly came into a stop when Viktor and the others suddenly heard a loud roar from behind the horde. The roar shook the tree branches, made the ground shake, and pierced everyone’s ears. But, more than anything, the roar reminded Viktor of something he had tried to forget.
“No.. no.. no…”
All the firing and status notifications made him forget about his main objective.
[You have 15 minutes left]
It was as if the black monster punctually came after making a reservation; at exactly 15 minutes before the end of the quest.
The huge three meter tall creature ran from the corner of the woods and barrelled towards their direction, each step shaking the ground it stood on, and its huge body crashing down a few trees along its way.
Rooaaarrrrrr!
“Blyat!! Blyatt!!”
Flustered, Viktor lost his concentration and accidentally shot the last grenade from the launcher at the charging monster.
Shhhhhh…
The attack did not do anything. The monster merely raised its huge arm and blocked the explosion around half a meter away from its body. The pain only made it kneel, and there was no substantial injury to the monster at all.
“More bullets!! Reload!! Hurry!!”
Alas, there are no more grenade shells left.
“Fuck!! Blyatt!! Fuck!!”
All the others were terrified seeing the monster and instinctively started to focus their fire on it. But all of the bullets merely managed to make the monster even more enraged without even being able to wound it at all.
Viktor’s mind ran as quickly as it could. The threat to his life had just been upgraded to another level and he understood he had to make a decision. He was thinking of just forgetting about the supplies he had requested from Barry and immediately running away from this place. But, before he could step away from the other five people and try to save himself, he realized the black creature was staring at him with eyes full of rage.
His survival instinct kicked in right that moment and guided his actions as questions echoed in his mind. What if the black monster decided to chase him instead of trying for the other targets? After all, he was the one who shot the grenade before, and the others’ bullets couldn’t hurt it at all.
He quickly thought of an idea and screamed to the others. “Run inside!! Run!!”
As if they were given salvation, the group quickly ran down the 50 meter long 5 meters wide downwards tunnel and closed its steel gate.
Viktor turned and looked at the crowd in front of him as he cursed in his mind.
“Blyat… Now I am back to where I started!”
